  1. Hi,

My 16 year old son landed on January 13th.P.O.E was Newark New Jersey.

He should be a citizen now as i am one.Thats what NVC told me anyway.

I havent gotten anything at all in the mail yet.I need at least a social security number so he can get a part time job etc.

Please can you share your experiences with us as far as how long it should take to get social security number and citizenship papers etc.

    Thank You

  2. Yeah they will most likely issue the 221g saying that they need additional documentation and issue the visa later. That's not a ground for a refusal. I do believe that the medical will be ready before the interview though!

    Thank you,

I hope so.There are only 3 business days from his medical till the interview on the 4th of january.I will continue to keep my fingers crossed as i have done for the last 9 months.

I cant believe they are closing down for an entire week.

Good luck to anyone who has a early Jan interview.

  3. If the Embassy do not have the medical results they will not issue the visa. They will say it is approved pending the medical, keep his passport and send it back once they receive the results.

The results reach the Embassy on the 2nd or 3rd business day after the medical examination.

The courier delivers the day after the Embassy give them your passport, normally. There is no choice other than selecting a time slot for which there is an extra charge. The courier will take contact details and call or text the night before to confirm delivery the next day.

    Thank You

  4. My 16 year old son has his medical in London tomorrow. His interview is January 4th.

I understand the doctors are closing for the holiday week.

What is the worst that can happen if they dont have his medical results back by the time of his interview.

The screwed up thing is he still hasnt received his paperwork from NVC yet.I had to scan and email my copy.

I am flying home for the interview with him and i have a ticket for him to return with me to the states on January 13th.

This courier service that they offer at the embassy. Are there options like overnight,2 day delivery or is it just get it when you get it.

    Thanks guys.

Starting to get stressed out.If can notice.

  5. Hi

Is it true that my son can call for a medical in London before he gets his letter.

I just found out today from NVC he has a January 4th interview.

He lives 400 miles from london and i dont have time wait on the letter from the consulate as his interview is in 3 weeks.

Can someone please post info on the doctors if this is true.

    Telephone numbers, Web Pages etc

    Thanks

I have to book flights asap and i was wondering what is a safe time frame to book a flight back with me for my son after the interview.

I will do the courier service.

His interview is a Friday would the following Sunday be good. That would give us 9 days.

    Disgrace.

  11. I just got off the phone with a supervisor at NVC - she told me that all our paperwork has been reviewed, it's all in order and now we just wait for the file to be transferred to whatever department sets up the interviews.

I actually had to ask - 'so the case is complete' - she said 'yes' - but then said the stuff about transferring it to the department where they schedule the interviews and that they never give them as many interview slots as they need (which I already know of course because Montreal generally takes 4-6 months to get an interview).

Anyway, I'm rambling, I'm just finding it hard to believe I guess

    Congrats.

I wonder how long it takes to transfer to departments.I had a case complete for my son on Nov 15th @ London Embassy.

Still getting case complete message via automated and operator.

  12. Come on guys.Your making me home sick after 15 years.

You cannae get nothing like that here in Jacksonville.

All the best with your immigration.Get your citizenship asap so you are done with all this BS.

I am going through it all again as i am sponsoring my son.His case was complete at NVC on Nov 15th.

So hopefully he will get a January interview in London.I am coming home to do the interview with him and bring him back.First time back home in 4 years.

But i am from Dumfries so i dont know if its a good thing or not.

  13. Hi,

My case has finally been completed at the NVC. Now I am waiting for NVC to schedule my interview. Does anybody have any experiences on how long it takes to schedule interviews?

    Nilz

I am in the same boat.My sons case was complete on Nov 15th.I am hoping for a January interview for him.Plus the flights are cheaper.

  14. Hi Guys,

Has anyone filed an IR-1 visa from the US.I am looking for a timeline.

I am filing from the US for my son who lives in Scotland. Our case was complete at the NVC on November 15th.

When do you think he will get his interview in London.I call NVC every day and talk to operators once a week but they dont tell you nothing but you have to wait.

I am going to fly back for the interviewing process and bring him back with me.

Also how long after the interview will it take before he can fly back with me.

Does anyone have a similair experience.

    Thank You

  15. check the timelines here in VJ

Sorry guys i should have said his case was complete on the 15th November.I am still keeping up hope for a December interview. But i just called the NVC and the operator told me they were done with scheduling interviews for London for December.

    Hopefully January.

He did tell me though to keep calling there automated service and if i hear the Case forwarded to embassy then call back as an interview has been scheduled.

    Fingers crossed.

From what I have seen and have experienced, it is pretty likely that he will have his interview in January. As you can see in my timeline, my case was completed mid-July and was told mid-August that our interview had been scheduled for Sept.

Best of luck to you and your son!

    Thank You
