Yay to all the new approvals
Jeraly, without sounding stalkerish (lol), were you wearing a blue cardigan, blue jeans and a flowery top yesterday for your interview? (if so, I was sat on the same row as you but at the otherend besides the interviewing booths)
-
How soon is your interview. They accepted mine no questions asked yesterday. I even brought a print out from the embassy website just incase. I cant find the link right now, but on it it says
"If you have applied for, or in possession of a Subject Access Statement and you will appear for a visa interview before August 15, 2008, the Non immigrant Visa Section will accept this Statement provided it was issued within 6 months of the date of your visa interview. Applicants appearing for interview on or after August 15 will be required to furnish the new style police certificate from the ACPO"

I was approved too
Have to agree with Aly that it was very easy and the interviewing officer was LOVELY!!! The bit I was most nervous about was the blood test during the medical and even that wasnt that bad
So a good day all round!
Congrats Aly

Im not on there. I have my interview on wednesday. Sooooooooo scared

Yep. Fine. Ive planned the exact same thing also. Have interview at 9.30 on 9th April, then the medical at 2.30- the woman at the medical office said it was quite common to do things this way
You just need to make sure that after your interview you ask for a certified copy of your passport as the embassy keeps your passport for your visa (pending medical results) but you 'need' your passport for the medical....but in these cases the certified copy suffices.

I did not attach any documents. In the instruction pack in packet 3, the first page said to NOT attach any documents and I just got my packet 4 2 weeks ago- check it says this on yours.

Youre right- you dont fill out the green I-94w (the visa waiver that you used to use). Instead, you fill out the white I-94. The airline might insist you take the green one, but tell them that its the white one you need.

Actually it kinda is...
http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/niv/add_crime.html
But the ky point is it says "nonimmigrant" visa section... so I am not sure if that applies to K-1...
Thanks for the link. I knew I had seen it somewhere on the Embassy website but I couldnt find it.
Will print it off and take it with me to the interview.

Cheers.
Tis all a bit annoying how they keep changing things up on us.
I know its not official US Embassy words, but this London based US immigration re-iterate what I thought.
http://www.usvisalawyers.co.uk/whatsnew.htm
Nonimmigrant visa applicants who have a criminal record in any country should also produce the official court record when applying for a visa. The court record(s) must indicate the nature of the offense(s) committed, the sections of law contravened and the penalty imposed by the court. A UK Subject Access police report will be accepted in lieu of an ACPO police certificate for nonimmigrant visa applications submitted on or before August 14, 2008, as long as the police report is less than 6 months old. Effective August 15, 2008 only an ACPO police report less than 6 months old will be accepted for nonimmigrant visa processing.
Effective February 15, 2008 the police certificate requirement for immigrant visa applicants was also changed. Those immigrant visa applicants who have resided in the UK for at least 6 months since the age of 16 will be required to obtain an ACPO police certificate rather than the previously used UK Subject Access police report. A grace period during which the UK Subject Access police report will be accepted will end on April 14, 2008. For purposes of immigrant visa processing the ACPO certificate is considered valid for 12 months from the date of issuance, not 6 months as indicated on the certificate.
Really sucky I know, but its not directly 'from the horses mouth' so I wouldnt treat it as gospel.

Youre allowed 2 bags weighing 50lbs each.
If theyre over:
"Customers who travel in Economy Class with checked baggage over 50 lbs (23 kg) and not exceeding 70 lbs (32 kg) will be charged at the rate of $50.00 per piece."
Was only $25 when I last travelled with them
-
The added advantage is that you can start the K1 process RIGHT NOW, whereas with K3 you will have to wait until you are married thus saving even more time.

A guy who was either K3/CR1/IR1 had an interview last week using the old subject access form and it was accepted no probs. He even asked his interviewing officer and for immigrant visas, they are good up until April 15th.
Heres his post
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=521788
Going by in the information that was posted on the embassy website previously (cant find it any more) it said that non immigrant visas (eg, K1) can use the subject access up until August providing that it is no more than 6 months old. I have my interview lined up for the 9th of next month and Im just going to turn up with the old one.
Will post and let you know whether its accepted or not.
-
Dont forget that the K-1 is valid for 6 months for entry to the US once you receive it, so technically you could have your interview at the beginning of May and the visa will be good for entry 6 months from that point (which includes the whole of October).
-
I know lots of people called the NVC to get their case number and track its progress.
I on the other hand didnt call and instead just waited for packet 3 to arrive from the London Embassy (just over 2 weeks from receiving NOA2).

I put Liverpool and Merseyside on my form and that was fine (that was the exact place my passport was issued.
Here are the passport issuing offices for the UK
* Belfast
* Durham
* Glasgow
* Liverpool
* London
* Newport
* Peterborough

I just recently had MMR at the Docs and that was only one jab also.

Congrats !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS

Tis a bit sucky that the 'new procedure' for getting the UK certificate has gone up to £35 though.
They sure know how to make their money.
-
If you dont have a medical date then you dont have one to put on the checklist, and thats fine. Im sending my checklist off this week and I am not going to book my medical until I have the interview date. This is because I am wanting the medical on the same day as my interview to save going down to London twice, so having a 'blank' on the medical date is fine (or as in my case 'to be confirmed').

One of the requirements for the K1 fiance visa is that you have meet each other within the past 2 years, so if you want to go this route then you MUST meet each other and have proof of this meeting.
One what basis were you refused on your previous US visa applications? Having visa refusals may make it more difficult to have a tourist visa approved, so if it is impossible for you to obtain a US visa, then it will have to be that your girlfriend comes over to visit you, or you both meet up in a country other than the US (eg Mexico.....this is not as far to travel to compared to your home country, and you shouldnt have much difficulty yourself entering this country).

Yay!!!! FINALLY!!!! Congrats

Hi there.
I dont know whether this is too late or not. Ive just been going through the check list sent to me from the London embassy and it clearly states.....
"Please note many countries now require fingerprints to process police certificates for immigration purposes (eg, Australia, Canada, Nigeria) and police certificates completed without the required fingerprints are not valid"
So unfortunately you will need to get the certificate with the fingerprints.

Ooooh. I may actually be wrong. It seems that the rules are slightly different if the 6 months+ you spent in a foreign country was the US. Apparently the US will do its own checks on you....I got this from an identical question that was asked in britishexpats.com
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=514466
You learn something new everyday eh

The fee seems to have gone up to £35 and the certificate only lasts six months!
Yeah, Id heard about that. Thankfully I got mine before our approval otherwise Id b £25 out of pocket

Ha, thats so funny. I'm just a nosey person so whenever an immigrant visa number was called I looked to see who was going. You were the only young one that got up when a number was called so I assumed it had to be you. We were literally sat 7 seats apart. You literally looked as terrified as me
