  1. All,

Thank you for your patience in answering all our questions!  It has been a LONG time since my husband and I had to work our way through the Immigration Labyrinth!

So, we understand that my mother-in-law's (Fatima) visa requires her to enter the U.S. prior to the expiration date of 10/12/17.

We are considering having her come here some time in the next 6 weeks, and then she can go back with my husband to finalize everything, a few weeks later.

On their return they wanted to have a one week layover in Germany, in order for her to meet her latest grandchild, from my brother-in-law.  I have been researching the Schengen Visa.  Since she will be a green card holder of the U.S., she still needs some type of tourist visa or the Schengen visa to visit Germany, correct?

I was researching it, when we thought we had to hurry and get my husband out there, to finalize everything in Morocco.  Their is a Transit visa, for up to 5 days, but am not sure if that is the one we should apply for.  Again, so appreciative of all your help!

  2. Hi!  We have 2 quick questions, and hopefully someone can help us.....

My MIL had her interview in Casablanca on 4/26.  Her IR5 visa was approved on 5/12, but expires on 10/12/17; that is only 5 months and 7 days.  However, directly under that it reads, " Upon Endorsement Serves as Temporary I-551 Permanent Resident For 1 Year".  Does this mean they will give her an extension, upon entering the U.S.?  Also, is there anyway to get that extended?  My husband was going to Morocco at the end of August, for Eid, and to prepare things for my sister-in-laws, while he is there.  He would then fly back to the U.S, with my MIL on Nov. 2nd.

    Thanks!

  3. Hello!

My mother-in-law has her interview for her immigrant visa on 04/26.  Per the Interview page it states there are 3 (one in Rabat and two in Casa).  We have only been able to get in touch with one, in Rabat, and he is charging 2500 MAD.  Of the two in Casa only the male dr. answered and stated he is no longer doing the exams.  We have not been able to get in touch with the woman (which is who my MIL prefers).  Does anyone have any recent experience with the medical exams and testing and costs, in Morocco, right now.  She will need her immunizations, as well.

    Thank you for your time!

  4. Hello All!

We haven't posted in quite some time....but we would like some feedback ~ and as always, thank you in advance!

We would like to plan a vacation to either Mexico or France. We would like one of my brother-in-laws to meet us there. Does anyone know how difficult it is for a Moroccan to get a tourist visa (from Morocco) to either destination. We were hoping to go in the next 2 months, but the date is not set in stone. My husband is already a citizen, so his going is not an issue. We would just like to meet Tariq there.

Thanks for any quidance or suggestions!

  5. Hi everyone!

I have been researching USCIS website, but have not found it to be too helpful in this.

My mother-in-law has a 10 year tourist visa (for 2 years now). My husband is now a citizen of the U.S.; how do we apply for a green card for my mother-in-law, so she can come live with us?

Also, what forms are needed and does anyone know approximately how long immigration is taking on family member visas?

Thanks...as always! You are a great source of info....

  6. Hi!

We did the typical packages from Dish and DirecTV, but were just too expensive over time for the content. So, my husband from TV2Morro. It is internet streamed from your computer. They send you the modem, and as long as you have a good internet connection you get plenty of channels for about $25-$35 per month depending on the package. I would recommend this route.

    Good luck!

  7. Hi All!

I have been asking random questions recently, because random things are happening:

    1. BIL applied for student visa to come to USA to get Teaching Degree....DENIED :crying::unsure:

    2. In the midst of this our family in Morocco informs us that my SIL met some man from Yemen (green card holder in Tennessee) and wants to get married. The day we find out Tariq's student visa is denied, my MIL tells my husband "Well now that the interview is over, we should tell you the man from Tennessee has already bought your sister's ticket for NEXT Thursday to go to Denver to be with you. He is driving there to meet her and get married" WTH!!!!

Now, in the past two weeks when we found out about the man from Yemen, my husband has talked to him maybe 5 times on the phone. He was preoccupied because we were getting all needed information for sponsoring my BIL. We had no idea it was this serious or that it had gone this far already. To say my husband is stressed is THE understatement of the year. He called the "fiance" last night and had a huge conversation with him. This is what we found out and this is our big question...what do you think?

    1. He has been in U.S. for 19 years and has a green card.

    2. He lost the green card several years ago and just never bothered to get a new one.

    3. He owns a gas station in Tennessee...it is open 24 hours and he refuses to have employees; he does not trust other people.

    4. He says he has lived with his uncle all this time, and is in the process of buying a house for him and my SIL (however, I did a background check today, and it appears he has owned a house since 10/2009)

    5. He is flying her to Denver to be with us, is meeting her here the same day...he is driving not flying (???). He wants to meet us, meet her, get married and take her back to Tennessess, where they will stay in a hotel until the house is done (HUGE ?? here...).

    6. There are no other marital records in the U.S. (doesn't mean he isn't married in Yemen).

    7. He thinks he will just be able to take her to TN and file for a green card for her as his spouse. In only 3 days (THANKS VJ'ers!!) I found out the wait is like 4-5 years if he doesn't have his citizenship, which he does not. She has a tourist visa only, so that means she will have to go back and forth every 6 months. My husband told him all of this, and he insists he can do it (what is the secret he has that none of us know?!?!)

My husband is afraid that his sister will be that toy your kids begged and begged for, they played with it for a couple weeks and then it got put under the bed somewhere.

There are so many unanswered questions here! We think he should go to Morocco, meet her and the family, and then come back to U.S. If they are still interested, we can go to TN meet him and his family, and THEN if my husband agrees they can get married...but wny the rush??

    What do you think?

    Thanks!

  8. Hello! My husband and I found that the financial proof was better and proved more in every process so far. We alway include a chronological display of pictures and a couple letters from friends or family...but the tax returns, joint ownership of property and financial records were the proof that worked for us.

    Good luck!

    Yvette

The recent evidence of a bonafide marriage questions have made me think about what we should send with our application.

My husband and I have been together 7.5 years and married for 3. We've owned a house together and have had joint bank accounts, phone bills, etc. for over 4 years. We have thousands of pictures and a ton of other documentation proving that this is a legitimate relationship.

Because we have so much joint information and evidence, I'm not sure what would be the most effective and appropriate things to send. Obviously, I don't want to send everything, but I want to send enough.

Is there an order of priority for what's best? How much is too much? Are affidavits from family members and friends more or less important than say the deed to our house?

  9. Hi!

Well here we are again....haven't been back to VJ for such a long time.

I have a new question, my husband and I are baffled.

We brought his sister to visit us a couple times over the past year. While she was here she went to take English classes. She met some friends there. Well, she went back to Morocco in May. Before she left one of her classmates husbands introduced her to his friend. He is from Yemen and is a permanent resident in the States (on the East Coast...we do not know exactly where yet). I am not sure if he has only his 2 year green card or his 10...this news is NEW to us; we only found out this past weekend.

My Mother-In-Law asked us to find out how they can get married and what he needs to do to apply for my sister in law. She wants her daughter to get married in Morocco, but he wants them to get married in the states.

She only has a tourist visa, so theoretically she could come here to get married, but then there would be no family, and I am pretty sure she needs to go back, while he applies for a spousal visa.

Am I correct, or missing something. SORRY the information is so vague, but we only just found out, and this is all we have so far.

    Thanks for your time!

  10. Hello!

We bought the MagicJack for our family in Morocco and it works great! Wish I would have thought about it when my husband was there!!

As long as he has a PC, you set up the Magic Jack here, assign the phone number and send it to him...very user friendly!

    Good Luck!!

Me py question is very off subject, but being my fiance is in Morocco, you guys would be the ones to answer me. I am looking for a international card for my fiance, not me. The telephone rates there are so bad. If he gets my voice mail on my phone that is it, his money on his phone is gone. And becasue he is not working at this point in time he can not even call me, just can not afford the 15 dirhams a minute. And recently the phone comp has not been running any deals. So I was wondering if you guys know of any international calling cards they can use in morocco to help be able to call out of morocco and not cost so much. I have looked but not been able to find what i am looking for, besides a AT&t calling card. What do your fiances and husbands do while waiting to come to the US and call you???? Should i just get a magic jack, i know that is a choice.
  11. Thank you everyone for your responses.... :D

You know one other thing....in all this, I had some pretty horrible things happen this year with my family: I had an uncle diagnosed with terminal cancer, and while dealing with his cancer his wife my beloved aunt passed away. It was devastating to us all!! My husband totally stepped in and took care of everything for us here at home and helped with funeral arrangements, made sure my cousins and uncle were okay....when it was all over, I was sitting home one night and I suddenly realized for the first time ever, I wasn't alone! Everything wasn't up to me to fix or get through alone...I turn around, and there he is! THAT has been the most amazing part of this year, no matter what I turn around and Said is there!

Hope to hear from more of you!

    Take care all!

  12. Hello All!

It is Sunday night...almost the start of a new week, and I was wondering about everyone's first year actually living with one another....no more computers, no more webcams, no more Skype, International long distance calls...just husband and wife ACTUALLY living together: The Good (hope it is mostly this), the Bad and the Ugly - you know NORMAL married life!

We are coming up on one year Nov. 7th, and was just wondering how it is/was for everyone.

We had a pretty harsh 1st three months, especially the first month until my husband found work (think really big roller coaster ride...lots of ups and downs - that was definitely US! ) We knew the cultural and religious differences would be hard to adjust to, but did not KNOW how hard they would be. After that is was just getting to know what it is like to live with someone, and their quirks and "must haves" and "Do not do's"... that kind of thing. At one point at about the third month, I was actually MISSING the nights on the computer, when it was still the "Honeymoon phase" - I know you all remember that time!

Teaching him about how things are done here was actually fun - he did not resist it soo much, and since he is pretty independent he ventured out quite a bit. The first time I had to go find him after he got lost on the bus was funny....I asked him where he was and he gave me the name of a credit union and that was it....I had to look it up; there he was sitting on a planter waiting for me like it was the most natural thing! He had his driver's license and car within 2 months of getting here, so the bus thing did not last very long, but that is not to say the getting lost thing didn't!

I knew my husband was ULTRA responsible, but I had no idea the extreme it went to. If he knows anyone has an issue or problem, he immediately tries to fix it for them. It is one of the many things I love about him, yet I worry about him too. He tends to always put himself last. He goes silent on me (drives me CRAZY  )...he doesn't yell or argue, and I do not need like to fight, but I definitely need to settle things quick. I do not sit on issues and let them fester, and I get over things quick...he is totally the opposite. He can go days and days without saying a word!

Now, we just have this ordinary married life, saving to buy a house and hopefully send our son to Morocco with my mother-in-law when she returns there in a few weeks. So....now we are about to end our first year together in Colorado and am looking forward to each day (other than the silent ones! )

So tell me about yours.....can't wait to hear from you all!

  13. Thank You sooo much!!!

    Hello All!

Hope this Monday finds each and everyone of you VERY well!

I have a question (to add to my many many  ):

My husband has his degree in Information Technology Management (basically he is a computer geek.. ).

When he first arrived last November, we thought "No Problem"...apply and he will get something; that was totally NOT the case. One year later he is working in Property Management with me and at a restaurant.

He wants to go back to school, to add an additional IT degree, but we are not sure where to start.

Are there any government programs that will help him with school?

Do we complete the FAFSA, and then if so, what do we use for previous year's income, it was only 1 month's worth?

Any suggestions or advice is GREATLY appreciated...as always!

    Yvette

If your husband has his GC then he can qualify for Pell Grant and student loans. When you fill out the FAFSA you will include both your incomes from the previous yr. My husband has a 3 yr technical certificate in computer science in Algeria and is in his second year studying computer networking here in the US. He qualified for full pell grant that has paid for everything including books. Ask the college your husband wants to go to, what evaluation service they require you to use. He will have to get his university transcript evaluated before they will let him attend. We used World Education Services(WES) http://www.wes.org/ because that is what Hachemi's college told us they accepted. If I remember correctly, Pell grant is for undergraduate programs. If his degree evaluates into a bachelors degree he may not can qualify. You wont know until his degree is evaluated. I think he can still get student loans either way.

    Good luck.
