  1. I received my GC on Sept 9,2008 but my card had a typographical error. they messed up with my sex. So i mailed the card back to them along with a letter,I-90 and passport copy on Sept 14,2008. Its been over 3 weeks and i havent heard back from them nor did i receive any letter from them. I have made copies of the card. I dont know what to do at this stage. I do have a I-551 stamp on my passport which was stamped at my interview on Sept 2,2008. How should i know the progress in my situation. Did anyone had the same problem as i heard that its common for having errors on GC.

  2. I received my GC with typographical errors. So when i am filling my I-90 form,

    Part 1. Information about you.

Here it does not have an option to mention my SEX and the only typographical error in my card is in the SEX.

Part 2. I choose "d" option-card issued with inccorrect information.

They dont mention in the form as to which supporting documents they need to prove that i am a male.

Did anyone face this problem? thanks for the help.

  3. I was approved on Sept 2nd,2008 interview and i received my welcome notice on Sept 5th,2008. No card yet. Until yesterday, the status online showed "Card Production Ordered". Now the online status shows "Approval Notice sent". So i dont know what is going on guys. Hope it is nothing to worry about and hope they dont reverse their approval decision. Did anyone had this problem before?

  4. I had my GC interview on Sept 02,2008 and i was approved of my GC with an approval letter. But i ddint see the update on the USCIS website for my I-485 status. I was told that i would get my card in 3 weeks and the letter said to contact them after 180 days if i didnt receive the card. How many days does it normally take for the card to be mailed to you. Did anyone get it after a long delay after approval.

  5. We have prepared the I-864 asmentioned in the interview letter. It had an option to include my income as a member of household/sponsored immigrant. It does not say anything about the I864A though. So hoping that we should be good.

Should not, USCIS considers the I-864 to be valid at the time they accepted it, and it does not expire.

What you can do is have wife prepare a new one and you can prepare an I-864A as a member of her household, and that way you can add your income. If your income exceeds 125% povertyline, then you should be fine.

Only bring out the I-864 and I-864A if the interviewing officer asks for it.

  6. I thought the I-864 doesn't expire. Why the need of filling out a new one? That would mean someone has to fill out a new one when there is a change in revenue. It seems cumbersome.

As a contract it doesn't "expire" but it isn't a contract until AOS is approved. To approve AOS they need a recent I-864. One submitted in 2005 cannot reasonably be used to evaluate the public charge concern in 2008.

I dont know what to do if i dont find a job by the end of the month.I am paying mortgage on my home. so will this asset be good enough.how would i convince the officre that i am applying for jobs but if the economy is bad,its hard to find jobs.unfortunately i dont have a co-sponsoror.

Will the tax return forms do any good as we made more than 100K last year and say that we are living of our savings.

I was wondering what would be the worst come scenario if I-864 is not presented. Thanks for your help.

  7. I have been married to a US citizen for 3 years now.We had our first interview in Mar 05 and at that time only my background check was pending. since then we moved to florida from CA(where i applied for my GC).We have another interview on sept 01 in tampa,fl. Our I130 has been approved earlier this year. In the interview letter, they ask for I864 and 3 letter from those who knew that our marriage is legal.

My problem is that both me and my wife are unemployed.I havent worked the whole year and my wife did earlier in feb 08.We have been on vacations out of country almost until aug 4th,mostly out of country. Now we both are looking for jobs. but if we cannot find the job until the interview date, what are the consequences. We had earlier submitted I-864 when we did the application in 2005. This situation really scares me as i dont want to loose it from here.Any suggestions is highly appreciated.

    Thanks,

  8. I have applied for my renewal of EAD abt 5 months back in July,2007. I had my biometrics done on Oct 11. I received my AP but not EAD yet. I was thinking of going to the local office early next week.

    I have a few question:

    1) I have a scheduled vacation for 2 months from jan 10- mar 9 out of country. Do you think i should be good to go with my Advance parole.

    2) My passpot expires in Jun 2008. I have already renewed it and have a new passport. Do i have to use the new passport or old passport for departing and entering US.

    3) Do you think the local office can issue an EAD as i am well past the 90 days limit.

    Thanks,

  9. I have applied for I-131 and I-765 electronicall abt 3 months back. I got the receipts for both. For my I-765,i even had the biometrics done a couple of days back. So my I-765 now shows up on the USCIS website but my I-131 still doesnt show up. I have not sent any suporting documents after i filed both the forms since i was not requested by the USCIS. This is my third I-131 & I-765. Without sending the supporting doc's, I-765 processing has been resumed but I-131 not yet. I dont know what to do at this stage. If at a later point, they ask for RFE, how long it is gonna take to process the AP. I need to travel in the beginning of next year and i am tensed. Any suggestions as to how to speed up the processing.

    Thanks.

  10. The concept of citizenship ,i feel is unfair. It says 3 yrs from the date of PR approval if married to USC,but if someone has waited for over 3 yrs in the name check and gets his PR after that, then 3 yrs from then would be a total of 6 yrs since being married to a USC.They dont considered the name check waiting period towards this which i think is unfair.Do you think that there is any other way for this.

  11. I have applied for my I-131(Advance parole) and I-765(Employment Document) electronically in July last week. Its close to 3 months now. I havent submitted any supporting documents because the system didnt ask for any when i filed. I even got the MSC numbers for both confirming that USCIS received them. I even called the customer service and they said that if they need any supporting doc's, they will send me a letter requesting for eveidence. I have my biometrics scheduled for this week for I-765. This is my 3rd EAD and Advance Parole.

I have heard that the waiting period is 3 months for AP and if they ask for supporting doc's,it will take 3 months from then. i need the AP to travel at the end of the year. At this point i am clueless as to what to do. Do you think the biometrics i have covers both as regards to taking my pic for AP and EAD.Is there a way i can expedite the AP application.

  12. I recently went to my local office to figure out that my name check has started in Nov 2005 and is still pending. I have recently applied for my 3rd I-765 EAD,which does not show up on the USCIS website but i received a letter for biometrics for I-765. Do you think this will expedite my I-485 case since i have been waiting on name check for over 600 days. Has anyone been in my shoes before.
