  1. Hello all, please add this message to the many folks who have complted the K-1 process and await their loved ones. Sionny and I will be married on the Ides of March and back in Seabrook, Texas. I think they make this process so long and arduous so it will be a test of your love for each other. It works. If you get through all this, with all the work, time and money involved, you gotta love each other! Good luck to all and peace. TC

    Congrats !!

  2. Stonehenge is completely useless, though.

Its only useless if you consider only things that have practical application to have any intrinsic value.

    Now we're getting somewhere.

Upon further research, I have discovered that Mse. Cotillard is attractive.

I therefore retract my earlier comment about deporting her and, despite her being French, am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Apologies for any misunderstanding this may have caused.

    get some glasses.

She's decent looking. Nothing special. Kind of creepy looking. Either way, Keira Knightley is definitely better looking.

I'm not impressed. She's average at best.

  3. Congrats! Glad something is happening for someone!

I called CSC today and was told by a very nice immigration officer that my petition is still on a shelf.....they are currently working on October filers...she said mine may be another month....so all you Oct., Nov. filers...mayb e good news soon!

All us CSC filers are so lucky. We paid triple the previous fee to get triple with the wait time. it appears they are going to take pretty much the full 6 months to approve our application. Seems like a bunch of ####### considering the Vermont filers from January are already getting approvals.

  4. hi I am US citizen and I am wondering if also need Certificate of No marriage. I am single and never been married.

We know already that my fiancee need cenomar, but how about me? do I need it. Thank you.

The US citizen does not need anything to prove they're not married. I've not heard of the beneficiary needing this documentation, but perhaps it's required at the Manilla consulate?

    ==================

thnx for the reply :) i don't know if I need it, thnx for the info,,, I just want to make sure our documents are complete before my fiancee's interview

I'm sorry I did not make it clear. The US citzen does not need to supply a Cenomar or NBI clearance only the Beneficiary does for her interview.

  5. I am inviting all November filers from the Philippines to post here and keep this thread updated so we could keep track and support/help each other.

Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation.

    Love,

    Riza

November filer here. CSC service center unfortunately. Most of the Vermont people have got their NOA2 already. Some even have their interviews scheduled. The wait is so frustrating when some of the process is pure luck also.

Here is the november filers main thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=94789

I think the Cenomar is a unique item to the Philippines and it is definately a requirement along with an NBI clearance for the interview at the manila embassy.

  7. (Apologies for encroaching on Mox) To the immigration people, "expedite" is for Cuban applications, emergency asylum applications, military applications, and (only for the very few) TRULY emergent personal circumstances (life-or-death matters, if even those!). Mox may have a more complete explanation.

TBone, you mentioned military applications as far as expediting applications. I am a military member, does that mean I should have done something different, or maybe that it would benefit me to call now even though I am a possible month or two out from my NOA2.

BTW long time reader/first time poster......This is a wonderful site and community

From my understanding of the military expedite is not for simply being military it's more for cases where you going to be deployed overseas and you can be expedited to avoid conflicts with the deployment.

  8. Wow, scary area for Americans.

I spent plenty of time there. I never felt in any danger whatsoever, was always treated very well by anyone we interacted with. In fact I felt much safer there than in Cebu City or Manila. This is not the part of Mindinao you really have to worry about.

Of course I have spent a good part of my life running around the south side of Chicago and Gary Indiana so I can smell trouble a mile away and have learned how to pay attention to my surroundings. I think even the worst areas in the Philippines are much safer than your typical American inner city.

  9. Sorry to hear of your experience. We found a Filipino grocery store close to us that also ships our balikbayan boxes. We recently sent a box and it cost us $65. There were no customs issues and the box was delivered right to my wife's parent's front door.

I posted here a similar experience when I sent my Fiancee her christmas present jewelry and various small items through UPS. I insured the package for $500 so that automatically gave it a declared value of $500. There must be filipino Customs office in Hong Kong as they called my Fiancee and said to deliver her package she will have to pay 6100 php (150US). My fiancee called me at 3am crying, I immediately call UPS and raised hell. They basically said too bad, it's customs decision what they charge.

I searched the internet high and low there is no documentation anywhere saying officially what the tarrifs should be for items. Basically I think they just arbitrarily come up with a figure they think people will pay.

Now the funny part is when the driver got there to deliver the package he forgot to charge her the 6100 php she even asked about it and he even called his office on the spot. 3 days later she gets a call and they said there was a mess up in the paperwork and that she owes them 6100 php. Well needless to say she told them where they could stick it.

After many replies and discussion with friends about this the best way to send items to PI is 1 of these options.

    1) very rarely do Balikbayan boxes get charged these tariffs and they are reasonable price. Downside is it takes like 2 months for the package to get to your loved one.

    2) If you need faster service use a trusted carrier like UPS, FEDEX or DHL. Do not insure or put any declared value. downside is it is very expensive to send via 1 of these carriers. ** note never use postal service for anything other than documents as anything valuable will likely Disappear.**

Customs is likely the most corrupt department in the Philippine government. There are countless newstories regarding their practices. Government corruption and the populaces acceptance of it, is likely the biggest single reason that there is and has been so little foreign investment in the Philippines. Since WW2 when countries in a similar position at the time like Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand have flourished and have very high standards of living.

  10. Congrats to all those who have been approved (ALL from VSC, I might add). But for those of us at CSC, it's getting closer . . . I can smell it :P

This just reinforces my opinion of anything to do with California. I just keep praying our application gets approved before another natural disaster hits like an earthquake or mudslides or big fires that god seems to throw at California every so often.

  11. Hello,

My wife is from General Santos and I was just wondering if anyone here is from the same area.

My SO is from GenSan also. She lives in Cebu City right now but she is in Gensan for the next 10 days or so visiting her family.

  12. Me and Joy are trying to figure out a plan of what to do with all her personal posessions before she comes here. Now this has become a bit of a touchy subject as she is very attached to her stuff and a bit of what I would call a packrat. My more practical approach (just sell the stuff) didn't go over so well and promptly got myself a nice big serving of Tampo

Joy lives in Cebu City and her family is in GenSan she has already packed several Balikabayan size boxes of clothes and such. What carrier might we use to get the stuff to Gensan that is dependable and reasonably priced? It don't have to be fast just trustworthy.

Also what if she wanted to send boxes of personal stuff here to the states what is the best way to do that and what sort of cost?

I already brought 1 bag of clothes with me on my last trip there. I know she will be able to bring 2 luggage and a carryon. But I'm not for sure that will be enough for her.

Any other advice here would be helpful as my ideas have not went over so well.

    Thanks

    Hoosier.

  13. I can't take it anymore  I must stop reading the VSC thread... Insane jealousy has taken over my mind. Each week I keep thinking that CSC is going to start pumping out the approvals.

I'm still trying to come to grips with the fact I've paid almost triple the fees I would of pre July for supposed improved service only to receive signifigantly worse service.

Well, that's not quite the case at this very moment. For this week CSC stands at 19 approvals. The VSC is at 13. So, things are definitly picking up at CSC. Hopefully it'll continue at the same pace of even faster. At this rate we'll have at least 90 from CSC for the month. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope it continues like this.

Also, you still have some time to wait before you start to freak out. Even VSC has approved only one petition from November so far. While CSC seems to be starting to catch some of the VSC craziness of approving petitions from 4-5 months at the same time.

So, you never know, yours might actually be coming soon.

Best advice at this point is: relax, stay positive, participate in the forums here, and prepare for the next steps when that NOA2 finally comes.

    Cheers! ;)

Thanks for the wise words. I'm not really freaking out yet as there are many others that have been waiting much longer than myself. I was just venting a bit,I would just say I'm annoyed at this point. I leave for the Philippines on Thursday so that visit should recharge my batteries so to speak for at least a month or so

  14. Lucky VSC filers . . . . <_<
