  1. My passport is not yet amended, I have my vacation a few weeks ago (Jan.20 to Feb.9), I spent there almost 3 weeks. There is no problem in your passport just bring your marriage certificate and green card. when i arrived at my port of entry at Chicago last week,I present my marriage certificate, green card and passport. The woman in charge asked me how long i stayed in the Phils?, thats the only questions... Dont worry, if you will travel if your passport still in your maiden name..many filipina went back to the Phils they dont have any problems...I asked opinion here in VJ first before i decided to buy my ticket. Use the name in your passport when buying your ticket not the name in your green card.

  2. Yes it is true life here is not easy you can make a small house along the road or along the river or anywhere like what people did in the Phils. there are many people in the Phils. living in the called squatter area but here you can't do it. I saw a old couple live the bridge near to our home.

I felt very sad when i was waiting my husband to pick me after my work, bec. i dont have a ride. I wait at walmart here in Asheville, NC, for about 3 to 4 hours bec he is working also 2nd shift on his full time job. I saw a young couple bringing their baby. They are trap and caught in the door by not paying all the groceries in their cart like sandwiches, butter etc..and the Police arrived about 15 mins after and went to the room where they are hold.

I saw also an old dirty man who are trap in the door before living at walmart. about 5 to 6 items on his cart he didnt pay at the counter, all are groceries. that time i was waiting my husband in the counter. I said to my husband will try to see if the man still there outside so that we will buy the groceries for him.

My husband work 3 jobs, 1 full time and 2 part time jobs but sometimes is not enough to pay our bills, mortgage, loans. especially he become a victim when he trade- in the car and the compay got close and dont pay his car. he can't do anything. he is paying to that car not on his hand anymore he can't locate where is it now.DMV wont help him locate where is the car now.The insurance of that company is not enough to pay all their victims...it is very sad. That's the first biggest problem we encountered in our marriage. second paying my medical bills after the deduction of our medical insurance.

Last month i visited Cebu, Phils. when people asked about here. I told them life is not easy there, same as here in the Phils. you should work hard in order to earn money.

  3. I think it is a long process with legal papers. I heard Atty. Gurfinkel in his TV show Pinoy Citizen explaining how to bring an adopted child from the Phils. but it takes time. you can call Atty. Gurfinkel bec. he is an expert on visa processing. I heard that you must live with the child for at least 2 yrs. and there's no more communication with the parents of the child is like totally abandon. There is must a legal papers sign by the parents. etc....

  4. Since i arrived here last year we are subscribing to the Directv, TFC direct package with basic package. There are 2 radio stations of ABS-CBN including on it. All packages include some of the local channels here but you can have additional packages or channels you want. You can call International service # or toll free 800- 378-3309.

In our package we add more channels bec. we choose TFC plus the choice package. we paid $ 65.00 monthly. but without the choice package only the TFC and basic you will pay only $ 50.00/ a month. Its nice to hear music and news from their radio stations of ABS-CBN. you can add also the GMA channel if you want for additional cost.

It requires 2 satellite dishes 1 international and domestic. usually installations is free. but if you leave in an apartment building this may not be an option.

They have also internet access for additional fee. Check the www.directv.com website for complete info.

  5. "I checked married - 0 when I filled out my W-4 during my employment and I can see it in my paycheck"

Because you checked " O " it means no deductions in federal withheld tax. but if you checked " 1 " =exemption for yourself. it means there is a federal tax deductions. you got higher amount of paycheck if you check 0.

Excuse me, but what blocks on the W-4 are you referencing?

If you want MORE money withheld (get more back when you file) you put lower numbers in for your dependents. 0 means more withheld/more money back.

It is possible to tell the government do not take anything out and that you will PAY your taxes when you file but that is on line 7 "EXEMPT" and I don't think that happened here.

    Yes, filing taxes is interesting.

I work a part time job (about 10 hours a week) and to make sure that that pay doesn't screw up my taxes I ask that an additional amount be deducted each pay period. That is on Line 6 if you care to do that.

Thats what i answered or filled up in my W4 form when i started working it means i want a deductions from my pay check for federal tax, i dont have any problems. every paycheck i received there is a federal tax deductions and state (NC) tax. i filled up 2 times because i worked first from agency after 3 months the company where i was assigned hire me as a regular employee then another w4 for the new company im working. and it is received by the IRS when my husband filed my taxes separately using taxslayer program. so far i dont see any problems. and it is explained to me first by the person who gave me the w4 form to be fill up. I dont answer anything if i dont understand i need further explainations if im not sure of my answer.

  6. all the deductions of my federal tax last year, it will return back to me. bec i worked only 5 and half months. I did not meet the minimum income level requirement to pay federal tax for 2008. In my case, My husband filed my taxes as "married filing separate" so that my tax refund would be separate from his tax refund. my return has been accepted by the IRS now. I should receive my refunds in about two or three weeks because my husband filed my tax returns electronically.I think you fill up Married in your status because we file EAD together with our AOS as a k1 visa holder when we entered here.

But If you file "married filing jointly" then both of your incomes will be considered for tax liability and any refunds issued will be for a combined amount. you can choose which filing status you want to have because there is no legal requirement to file a joint return if you want to keep your income and refunds separate from your spouse.

It is expected for our first time we file our taxes we can experience problems sometimes...but dont worry....

  7. it is ok to file the federal and state tax forms even though you had no federal income tax withheld from your paycheck.

If you owe more federal or state taxes it will be indicated as the tax return forms are completed(filled up) You must complete a federal tax return before the state tax return can be completed and submitted.

  8. I suggest that you examine your W-4 form to make sure that it is filled out correctly. Maybe you indicated exemption from withholding because you owed no taxes last year and expected not to owe taxes for 2008.

When i filled up my w-4 before i submit back to them, I let my husband review all the answers to make it sure bec. I'm not familiar about their taxes.

  10. Maybe you dont fill up in the W-4 form to have federal tax withheld deduction.Bec. if you fill up w4 form withheld federal tax, it will be deducted from your paycheck. try to see your paycheck if there is a federal tax deductions.

I got my w2 form last week while im having my vacation here in Cebu until now, so i let my husband do my taxes using taxslayer online program calculated and submitted electronically. Im glad to know i have almost $ 900 for working 5 and half months only last year. I still have little amount of money to spend there when i come back. This is my consolation after working hard, overtime and sometimes weekend to finish all the works.

  11. Maybe it is a Lordotic view if there is a suspicious density in the Apex of your lungs, but dont worry, thats for clarification only, sometimes bec. of the clavicle or collar bone that superimposed or other position for chest like lateral view.

I was very nervous during my medical exam. my blood pressure was high and felt sad whats the result of my medical even they told me to come back the following for immunization.

Just keep on praying God will help you...

hey there mga kababayans, just wanna know, I just got here in Colorado, and I'm out of contraceptive pills, anybody here know where to buy? My husband just got laid off and is still in the process of looking for a job, so he lost his medical insurance and cant get contraceptive here in the USA without the doc's prescription, I have been using Althea pills for almost 6 months now, so can anyone have idea where to get the pill? thanks to everyone who will take time to reply. Have a fruitful 2009 everyone.

Hi, I'm a pinay too! Can u please tell me how many copies of CeNoMar and BC are required for the US embassy interview here in pinas? Thanks! Good to know that u'r happy with ur life now!

  17. When i travelled going here I brought many medicines with Doctor's prescription. When the time i dont have left i cant use the Dr. prescription from the Phils here, so I bought some of my medicine from Phils and sent it here. The post office there in our country, want to know/see, what medicines inside the package before you send bec. there are medicines are not allowed to be send here. The in charge in the Phil Post Office they knows what are medicines are allowed to be ship, if it is not allowed then you can't send that medicine they wont accept it.

You can go to your local county health services and get family planning for a little or no cost at all. That's what I did when I first got here and before my husband was able to put me on his medical insurance.

Don't get caught receiving prescription drugs from a foreign country especially when it's not prescribed for you. Big deal, big jail time.

that's a good point though... but i am just curios coz the pills was prescribed by my doctor in phil (when i was still in phil anways)... and although fedex and ups wont accept any kind of medicines since they say its not allowed, post office in the other hand accept it and that you'll have to write whats in the package. so my mom always write "medicine" (and among others) in the description and even registered it... i always go claim it to the local post office since its a registered mail/package. and they know and can check whats in it by just reading the description that there's drugs/medicine inside... thats what confuses me if its really a big jail time on my part.

I am probably exagerating. But, I would not want to encourage the practice either. I did some quick checking, and here is what I found:

The FDA's enforcement efforts focus on drugs for commercial use, fraudulent drugs, and products that pose an unreasonable health risk.

    • If a bag or package arouses suspicion, customs will set it aside and contact the nearest office of the FDA or the Drug Enforcement Agency for advice on whether to release or detain the drug product.
    • Even though your bag may not be checked, it is against the law not to properly declare imported medications to customs. Failure to declare products could result in penalties.
    • Possession of certain medications without a prescription from a licensed physician may violate federal, state, and local laws.
    • Prescription drugs should be stored in their original containers, and you should have a copy of your doctor's prescription or letter of instruction.
    • If a drug is detained, the FDA is required by law to send you a written notice asking whether you can show that the product meets legal requirements. If you can't, the drug could be destroyed or returned to the sender.
For more information about the U.S. Customs Service, visit the agency's Web site, www.customs.ustreas.gov.

  18. I cook lumpia shanghai and lumpia using mongo sprout. We both bring pack lunch and dinner in our office. My favorite is chop suey is a chinese food bec. it is more on vegetables. I cook it in a filipino way and Tinulang manok with malunggay (horse radish-tropical vegetables) and sayote/chayote or green papaya.

I bet the lumpia shanghai is a big hit at work for him! I just bought Marie a deep fryer. That and adobo baboy are my two favorites!

Marie's favorites are pizza and In-n-Out Burgers.

He eat all the foods i cook whether he likes it or not.

Help! I have a shirt wrapped around my face as I write this post. Some sort of small fish she cooks in oil, produces lots of smoke. It smells like the warmest day in gym class, only 100 times worse. It has been two days now, and I can't even go in the house without covering my face. :(

It was a joke until he got used to the smell....I can't open the windows it's snowing outside, and the heat is turned on. No choice...no complaint coz my hubby loves me..

  21. Try to call Department Of Health near you, because they have a program for family planning or you can send money to the Phils and ask someone to buy for you there and send it here. I sent money to the Phils to buy for my antibiotics there.
