  1. I think you can call the DOD isn't it??? ####### I forgot can't you call the consulate and ask? when you find out let me know I am worried about the black hole of AP

17 days until his interview but who's counting

    Good Luck with the interview.

My husbands interview went really well. He was actually interviewed by two officers- the first one was a woman and she was trying to ask tricky questions, but since he was very truthful it didn't hurt our case.

What is DOD? I called the consulate and they basically said to stop calling and wait. Its always the same girl that answers the phone and either she really does not know anything or she is just extremely uncooperative.

  2. Hi

I have not written in a long time because I have been so frustrated. But here it goes- reality has finally kicked in...

After my Husbands interview in Costa Rica they told him he was approved and to to come and pick up his visa the next day. We were so Happy and thats when I wrote on this thread jumping for joy about his approval. But......

After he walked out of the building he got a God Forsaken phone call from the incompetents at the Embassy, they had the nerve to tell him that he could not go pick up his visa the next day because they had to do a NAME CLEARANCE. And that it could take weeks, months and sometimes worse.

So, we are still waiting and I am almost 9 months pregnant, I'm just glad I did not buy the airplane ticket for my Hubby to come home.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

  4. OK

The people who got RFE because they wrote present on question #20 should get to the bottom of this situation because if you write a date ( signature date) instead of "Present" means that you have lived there until that date. The same goes for The Job dates it would mean that you worked until that date.

This does not make sense and it is wrong. The person who reviewed these cases is absolutely absurd and unfair.

Please don't let them get away with this.

I got an RFE for question #20 and I wrote until present and my case was completed with this correction. If it worked for me it should work for everyone.

    Good Luck

  5. Today is a good day. :content::energy::P

Case Completed as of yesterday at NVC. :star:

    Now what happens next?

    Congrats !!!!

Since we haven't put this into the guide...here's what happens next.

    1. NVC sets an appointment date for you and sends out your package to the US Embassy.

If you're really #######, paranoid, or just a busybody, you can track the package status.

You can use the date after your interview was assigned, as the tracking reference date, and then do a search on DHL.

The format to use is "EXP 07 OCT 2008A" don't forget the spaces.

    The website for tracking is.

    http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef

The package may not go out on the next day, but the reference code will still be for that date.

When your package is able to be tracked, it will make more sense.

You'll see a list of packages going to different embassies. You'll know which one is yours.

    2. Embassy receives the package.

    3. If your spouse hasn't had their medical, now is the time.

    4. Spouse interviews, turns in medical, hands in passport.

    5. Passport is returned.

    6. Spouse gets on a plane.

    7. Spouse gets off a plane.

    8. Husband and wife (and possibly childrend) are united.

    9. You live happily ever after.

    10. The journey is done.

    Thank you!!!!

  6. Just to update my case:

I called the NVC and they said I would have to make a correction to question # 20 on DS 230.

Because there could be no gaps in the months where my Hubby has lived. There really was not - all I had to fill in was "to Present" by hand.

I sent it in the same day I found out about the stupidity by FEDEX. This was yesterday October 1st.

Anyway, how long will this take to clear up?

    Thanks

  7. I made a mistake.

Yesterday I spoke to an operator that knew less than I do. And I told her about the situation I was having with the fact that I had no evidence of payment for the IV fee bill.

And she said to send a letter by mail or e-mail explaining the situation because they had no record of my payment. She said that it could take a long time to fix this situation because they receive 1000's of pieces of male every day. So in my head I'm thinking well I should pay again because it's like the other payment never took place. And so I did... An hour later the first payment I made showed as PAID.

Last night the second $400 payment also showed as paid.

I already sent my packages ( AOS and IV) with the barcoded cover sheets, Now how do I get my $400 back? Any ideas? Should I wait until my case is complete?

  8. Ling Ling I think you are there....

Can you please help. I'm freaking out right now. Whats up with the payment I made?

I didn't get a receipt not even a tracking Number.

    Kimf

We've seen it go from "not paid" to "processing" then back to "not paid" and then to "paid".

Check with your bank tomorrow. If it doesn't show up in a couple of days, then double check with NVC and pay it again.

Even if you lose 2 or 3 days, it's still weeks faster than waiting for the hardcopy and mailing in a check.

    Hang in there.

    Thanks
