  1. Hello, I want to sponsor my husband but my AGI was 0 because I am self-employed and live abroad. NVC says my income is too low to sponsor, but I am still DQ and we have an interview scheduled for February 7 at the US embassy in Madrid. I reached out to the US embassy in Madrid, and they have responded saying my income isn't sufficient because it's derived from "business foreign earned income." They have asked me to prove that my income will continue when I move to the US, and I'm not sure how I can do that. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you, Molly
  2. Thank you for these tips! I submitted my full 2021 US tax return, which is part of the reason why I'm confused that they denied my sponsorship. But hopefully it's just a case of them not looking into the details and wanting more information from me. Most of my income is reflected in my Spanish bank accounts and tax returns in more detail, so I will make sure to have those translated and bring them to my husband's interview. I greatly appreciate your input and time!
  3. Thank you all for your time and insight. It's extremely helpful and very much appreciated. To answer your questions up until now: 1) Yes, I received a notification saying my case is documentary qualified. (I received it just a few seconds after receiving the one saying my sponsorship wasn't sufficient.) 2) I'm a self-employed translator and subtitler. I do all my work online and my income will continue once in the US. I can do my work no matter where I live. One of the supporting documents I submitted with my i864 application is a letter explaining my income will continue when I move to the US. Question: How do I convince them it will continue? From the notification I got from CEAC, it seems like I can defend my position at the interview, but how? Is there any way to do this before the appointment? (Doesn't seem like it.) What type of documents can I bring with me to the interview? Thank you all very much!
  4. I am the petitioner and sponsor of my Spanish husband. I received a message titled "Case FE Review Note" in our CEAC account stating: "This case does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrant. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. from NVC." In my sponsorship application, I attached supporting documents where I explain and prove that my income is high enough. (But it's all foreign earned income from self employment, meaning my adjusted gross income is something like $200.) I'm unsure how to proceed as I have a high enough income to support my husband in our move to the US and I've detailed that in my supporting documents. I don't understand why it isn't considered sufficient. My questions are: 1) Is there any additional supporting documentation I can bring to the interview appointment to prevent requiring a joint sponsor? 2) Do I absolutely need a joint sponsor in my case? 3) Is there a way to submit additional documentation to prove that my income is high enough? Thank you!
  5. Hi everyone, I am the petitioner for my Spanish husband. Our i130 has been approved and we submitted all the documents in CEAC a few months ago, meaning his case is currently at NVC. I just got the below email from the NVC, but there are no updates in my CEAC account (no messages or changes to my Status Chart). I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Any insight? It seems this email was sent by mistake or maybe for no reason. Thank you! "The National Visa Center (NVC) updated the status of your immigrant visa application. Please go to the Department of State's Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) at https://ceac.state.gov/IV. You will need your NVC case number and invoice ID number to log into your account. Once you have logged into CEAC, please look in your message box or on the Status Chart at the bottom of the page. If NVC has feedback on any items you submitted, there will be a new message with details. If not, please simply follow the updated instructions on your Status Chart to complete your case. If any column says "Pay Now", "Invalid Doc", "Incomplete", or "Re-Opened", that means you must take action by paying a fee, submitting a form, or uploading a corrected/missing document."
