  1. Here is the link for James shortcut 2.0

    http://visajourney.com/forums/index.php?sh...mp;#entry885374

    Under AOS fee bill in the second line, you will see MS word copy of AOS fee bill. First Download and save it in your desktop.

    Here is the visual James shortcut I used for AOS fee bill.

    I used Microsoft Paint. I think the paint program comes with windows so most people can use it.

    Here is the link James_shortcut_visual.doc

    I believe you guys asked for the AOS fee bill document. I hope it is not for something else.

  2. My wife's sister died at a young age leaving 2 of her children with her parents' custody (my in-laws). They are the legal parents based on the court documents. Therefore, the children are my wife's step-sisters in essence. They are aged 7 and 12 years old. My wife intends to bring them to USA to minimize the burden on her parents. But they need the GC. There are two ways to get it done. One way is ti have her parents obtain the GC and then get the Citizienship and then sponsor the children. That may take up to 6-8 years of time. The other option is to start the petition for the children as a sister.

    We could have tried adoptiing the children, but we can not adopt the children due to complex Indian regulations. Any suggestions.

    I really apprecitae the help here.

    Mike

    If I am understanding it right, your wife's parents are the legal parents of the kids based on the court documents. In this case, your wife, a USC, can bring her parents and their kids as long as they are less than 21 when they enter the US. I don't see there is any problem here. Also USC's parents can get visa soon.

    The question is are they the legal parents and do they have court documents.

  3. Sep 24 the auto msg said it generated IV bill but so far hubbie hasn't received yet. The auto msg never mentioned if I-864 has been generated although NVC call center agent has confirmed they received AOS and the bill.

    Does my case take too long to get those forms?

    Call the customer service to ask if your AOS was already generated. If it was, then you can use the James short cut to send the AOS. If you are sure your AOS bill ($70) was processed then you can send the AOS documents. It took 11 days for me to get the iv bill. you will get it this week or in the beginning of next week.

  4. Hi ,

    I dont know what documents you have to send when you are going thru the canadian montreal embassy. But as of your question... A certified copy is the Xerox Copy/ photo Copy ( as we call it in India) Which is signed by a Legal authority like in court and is said to be a certified copy of the original

    Jigi

    Hi Jigi

    I am going to send the DS230 at the end of the month. My questioin is

    can I get signature and seal from any gazetted officer on the xerox copy of the passport and send it to NVC. Is that what you did? what do you mean legal authority in court?

    For standard process we need to send only DS230 part I and the biographic data pages from passport.

    Am I correct? please let me know thankyou

  5. The only shortcut that is questionable (and it's not James's) is emailing the DS-3032. They are so slow responding to email right now that the person is probably better off just downloading the form, adding the barcode and mailing it.

    You are right. email is slow. We downloaded the DS-3032 and just wrote the case number on it. We didn't even put the barcode and they still accepted it. right there, it saved atleast 2 weeks. so I think it is helpful.

  6. I'm helping a friend with his CR visa and wondered how much time can you save overall using James' shortcuts if you do everything correct.

    Also wondered if people didn't do everything "to the tee" have they ended up losing time from the average CR/IR process?

    Thanks

    I think it is very helpful for people who get I-864 RFE. In my case I know I will get one. for someone who does everything correct and no RFE then it would still save some time. I don't know exactly how much time it saves. In mine, so far I saved atleast 3 weeks.

    I guess You know about the two different tracks. One is I-864 and the next one DS-230. By using the shortcut the first track finishes soon. since u can't produce the IV fee bill by shortcut the DS-230 is longer.

    And using the shortcut is not very hard so why not try it. Also lot of people used it with success.

    Anyways check this thread I put. I tried to make the barcode thing easier with visual.

  7. AM sorry here it is, http://www.visajourney.com/downloads/ReleaseTaxData.doc

    I am preparing my I-864 using James shortcut. He says I should send a cover letter with the documents.

    If any one know about this please let me know. I knew that I don't have to send the Authorization for Release of Federal Tax Data. But I don't know about the cover lette. Is there a sample letter in here some where. let me know.

    I really appreciate your help. Thankyou

    Thanks for the quick reply djturbo.

    I heard from other VJ members who already sent the I-864 that we don't need to send the Authorization for Release of Federal Tax Data any more. what about the cover letter. I am confused with that.

    Here's what James recommended to send for the I-864.

    * Cover letter

    * Barcoded cover sheet

    * I-864

    * Authorization for Release of Federal Tax Data

    * Copy of tax returns from last three years along with copies of W2s

    * Letter of employment

    * Last three pay stubs

  9. THANK YOU, I REALLY NEEDED THIS SHORTCUT!!

    I just played with the James short cut. tell me what you guys think.

    It is in the MS word attachment. I never attached any thing before so I don't even know if the attached word document is here. anyways...

    You are welcome. One thing, You don't need to use the eraser that I mentioned in the document. you can just go to the next step. It still works. It makes it even easier.

  10. You can be the agent but I would recommend the USC to be the agent. IF you still want to be the agent then make sure you send the IV bill by the Indian government post so the USPS handle the post to send it to the right address. FedEx, UPS,DHL or any other private carriers can't deliver to PO box in the US. Only USPS can deliver to the PO box in the US. It is better to let the USC handle the situation.

    Is there a Bank of America or any other bank in your city in India? you can call them to see if they can give you US moneyorder for paying the IV bill. In that case, I guess it should work .

    good luck.

  11. The beneficiary can just dowload the form online fill it, write the case number (including the first three letters) on top of the page in black or blue big letters, sign it and send it directly to the NVC. That's what we did and it did work. I heard people saying NVC takes at least two weeks to open the email, I would think sending the hard copy is faster. whichever works for you but please do either e-mail or the hardcopy. the link for DS 3032

  12. hello to all...

    I need help in figure out what to do now since I have e-mailed NVC the choice of agent on saturday!

    Here it is what happened!:

    Sep 17: NVC mailed DS-3032 and AOS bill

    Sep 22: I, the beneficiery, e-mailed them the Choice of Agent

    Sep 24: DS-3032 arrives in the mail

    Now, my question is: can i fill out DS-3032 form and mail it to them even though I e-mailed them??

    If I can mail them, Can I do overnight mail by UPS outlet in Canada??? or do i need to send it by canadapost?????

    please help! If i can mail it to them then I am gonna do that tomorrow so please respond sooner!!!! :(

    thanks to all in advance

    pari

    If it's taking 2 weeks to get a reply from them and you sent an email on the 22nd then it is better to send a hard copy. they process the hardcopy immediately (they did that in my case).

    When they open your email then they update it again even though it is the same address. You can hear that from their automated voice message.

    For the rest of you guys please use one method. I would say the hard copy is better. Let your spouse download the form online, fill, sign and send it to you(USC) so you can send it to the NVC. By the way, they are not really looking for that bar code on DS 3032. Just write down your case number including the first three letters in big letters on top of the page. (that's what I did and they accepted it) You can send it as soon as you hear the DS 3032 was generated.

  13. :help: Hey guys,

    I got married a couple of months ago and started collecting all the papers for filing I-130. The problem is that my wife is not qualified to be my sponsor because she made less than $10000 for '06 that's why we found a co-sponsor who made something between $16000 and $17000 for '06 and $10000 for '05, he is not married which means no other members in his household. I do not know how much is the minimum for him to be a co-sponsor in our case.

    And in case I file with him(my co-sponsor) and he is not approved what's gonna happen!? I badly need to file and get my employment authorization. I have H-2b case pending in USCIS (which has been taking for more than 2 months) and I am still not allowed to work, my previous h-2b expired a month ago I am going crazy! :help: Thanks in advance

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1327.html

    link for the poverty guidelines for 2007.

    Since the co-sponsor doesn't have any other dependents it is only two. For two persons it is $17113. Just subtract the amount the co-sponsor earned from $17113. Whatever comes from there, multiply with three (since USC is bringing the spouse it is only 3 times for assets). That's the amount the co-sponsor needs to have in assets. Here is an example

    say the co-sponsor made $16000 in 2006.

    $17113 - $16000 = $1113

    multiply $1113 by 3 = $3339.

    You can put the $3339 or more in bank account or from any other asset.

    Then you are good as far as I know.

    what do you guys think

  14. If you have been married less than 2 years, you will receive a CR-1 visa. You will receive a 2 year greencard which is conditional. 90 days before the expiration of the greencard, you have to file to have the conditions removed. Once this has been completed, you will then receive the 10 year greencard. 3 years after this, you can start the paperwork to become a citizen.

    Edited to add: You will be waiting 5 years total to file the citizenship papers.

    Sorry but the above info is wrong.....

    You can apply for Citizenship 3 years from the date you were approved for Permanent Residency... so if you came on a CR1 it would be 3 years from the date you entered the US.... it has nothing to do with conditional residency or not.....

    You can apply for the Citizenship 90 days before the 3 year date....

    See here for full info.... http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/M-476.pdf

    Kez

    for cr1 it is 3 years from the date you entered the US. What about K1. when do they get permanent residency and citizenship?

    Thanks

  15. Assuming no divorce, it takes 3 years after getting a green card to be eligible for naturalization. If your fiancee spends a lot of time outside of the country, it can take much longer. So depending how long it takes to get your green card, your looking at 2011 at the earliest.

    I am sorry if i didn't make it clear. On average how long it takes to get a green card

    (never goes out of the country)
