  1. I sent I-130 for my brother in mid 2005. I got a letter from USCIS saying it was approved. But on USCIS website it says the application is still pending. I called them they said it was approved and it hasn't been updated in the system.

Since yours was sent in 2004 I guess there is a lot of chances it has been approved. Your sister might have received the letter. The best way to find out is to call them with your USCIS case no.

As far as I know you still have to wait for 5 years to get a visa from NVC. NVC is processing applications filed prior to 22 Feb 1999. They will contact your sister asking for the documents such as I- 864 when your application is current

    Anyways goodluck.

  2. I just got off the phone with a supervisor at NVC - she told me that all our paperwork has been reviewed, it's all in order and now we just wait for the file to be transferred to whatever department sets up the interviews.

I actually had to ask - 'so the case is complete' - she said 'yes' - but then said the stuff about transferring it to the department where they schedule the interviews and that they never give them as many interview slots as they need (which I already know of course because Montreal generally takes 4-6 months to get an interview).

Anyway, I'm rambling, I'm just finding it hard to believe I guess

    Congratulations. :dance::dance::dance::dance:

You will get to the interview soon

  3. I would recommend to go with cr-1.

Take pictures when you first meet your future wife. also You can include your family and her family in the photos. Get your marriage certificate as soon as you get married. Get the information of how to get the marriage certificate and what documents needed to get that. Once you get the marriage certificate you can apply for CR-1 (I-130 form) with marriage certificate and some selected photos that you take before, during and after marriage. Also you need her birth certificate. If she doesn't have one have her apply for that now. It takes time to get that so start that process now. CR-1 takes on average two months more than k1 or k3 but it is way better. Anyways, this is what I think. Good luck.

  4. I didn't send any of the above mentioned documents for the same reason as yours and my 1-130 got approved without any problem. At that time I didn't even know this website.

The only thing I sent was the marriage certificate.I guess you do have your marriage certificate(in English) from the government. Marriage certificate is required for cr-1. Not sure about the other documents.

Let's hear from other VJ'ers if anyone got RFEd for not submitting them.

Sorry I didn't answer your question.

sorry I didn't see you are filing for K3. I don't have experience on K3.

One thing, I recommend you go for CR-1. It is way better than k3. I heard the same thing from mnay other people.

  5. First and foremost, I would like to thank each and every member here on VJ that helped me so much with the whole immigration process. I appreciate all the wisdom, understanding and patience. The daily contributors from the IR1/ CR1, NVC and Philippines forums… you are truly the best and amazing folks I have met. There are so many of you that helped me and it will take me days to have everyone you noted on here. What's important is that you will always be remembered and have a special place in my heart. (L) Thanks in a million!

My husband interview is finally over, and he was successfully granted his IR1 visa today November 15th at USEM (Philippines).

:luv: Good luck to everyone who are still in the journey to be reunited with your loved ones.

    ~ Rina

Rina is a great asset to this website. She is the first one to help everyone here.

I am glad I go through this process when she is here.

We all appreciate your help here.

Anyways, congratulations and we welcome your husband to the US.

  6. the NVC lost our AoS documents first time we sent it. so my husband mailed them another set, this time copies of the originals. when we called the NVC-AVR today, lo and behold! they mailed an RFE for missing or incomplete information on our financial documents...Geez! and we can't get hold of the operators to check what they found missing....so i guess we can only wait for that mail to arrive.....ho-hum!

    sorry to hear that.

Please try again to talk to the operators and see what the real situation is. May be talk to 2 or 3 people between 11:00pm to midnight so you guys can get a clear idea.

  7. Guys,

Maybe I'm worry about nothing but, When I filled my wifes I-130 I gave her my family name along with her complete name. Her 1-NOA arrived with my family name. I asked her to get her passport changed to add my family name. She told me that the passport office in Cali Colombia told her that her passport was too new to get changed??

Now I worry what will happen when I send a photo copy to the NVC and at the Embassy in Bogota, when they see my family name is not on her passport.

    Anyone had this problem?

    Thanks

I think doodas is right. You don't have to worry about it. Have the marriage certificate with you that's all.

If possible change the last name in the passport so she can get the visa and greencard with your name as her lastname. Otherwise, she can change it here in the US. No worries.

I did all of my wife's paperwork using her new surname (my surname). Her passport had her previous surname. She went to the interview, showed them our marriage certificate, and there was no problem. She received her CR-1 visa.

  8. mailed my I 130 july 27 to VCS..then I called after 90 days they put a trace on it. I was tyold some one personaly would look for my case...greaaate so gave me a ref num and told me to wait a little more ....so i did two days later i called and a very honest phone person told me that they cant do the search with out then having have had imput my imfo and having had giving me a RECEIPT num.....so any advice please help :help::help:

If you have sent a money order, you could check to see if it has been cashed. You could call the customer service of the money order company and give the money order number they will be able to tell that. (hope you made copy of it)

If you sent a personal check you could check it by checking your bank account. they usually say that in the back of check you could see your case number.

In my case, I called them and gave my full name and alien number then they gave me the receipt number.

since it's been 90 days now they should have cashed.

  9. Please someone give me the link where I can find the shortcut for DS230 RFE.

Have any of you sent using the shortcut for DS230 RFE? Please advice me.

I got RFE for leaving the work phone number blank. (I know it is a stupid mistake, I should have written "None" but it is too late now).

I appreciate any advice relating to this issue.

NVC RFE shortcut This is for National Visa Center (NVC) RFE's only; do not use for USCIS!

It will move to the pinned James' shortcut thread shortly, but it is still at that link for now (note also that the coversheet and barcode instructions are corrected in the post immediately following the one linked above!)

A link will be provided at the end of the thread linked above to the new location when it moves.

There are 3 confirmed users (including myself) with completed cases at this time, so the shortcut is very much validated at this point. I am just waiting for one more person's outcome for some additional information to include in the final instructions.

Thanks chris Parker for your time and energy to put this shortcut for NVC RFEs.

I guess the link you provided is the latest. I will use this then. Thanks.

  10. I have problem with the form and the supporting documents are ok as far as i know. this case, I correct the form and send just the form. And I don't have to send the supporting documents am I correc?

Yes - just send the form, if they aren't requesting supporting documents for the RFE, don't send them. In fact, if the RFE is for something that appears in part 1 - they will only send back part 1, not parts 1 and 2.

Also, in the MS word RFE document, the footer says page 2/3 but I see only 2 pages. Am I missing something or there is only 2 pages?

You aren't missing anything - that display is correct.

Should I send the supporting documents witht the form again. I am a little confused so please help.

    No :)

Great. Thankyou for the quick reply. I will just send the corrected DS 230 part I with 2 RFE sheets

  11. Try this link for the Shortcut of the RFE'd DS230.. the post of Chris Parker, Trailmix and nikkisprecious.. I used this one also in my RFE'd DS230.. but i can't justify yet if it works since i didnt case complete yet.. but Parker and NikkisPrecious already did..

    Hope this help.. Good luck!

    Thankyou all for your help.

Ness and Keith please tell me your experience. You talked with atleast 2 or 3 live operators and made sure you got everything and corrected all the problems. then send the corrected form with the supporting documents needed.

    Am I correct?

Should I send the supporting documents witht the form again. I am a little confused so please help.

whoever used the RFE shortcut please give your advice. I appreciate your help. Thanks again.

  12. Since we are talking about the DS-230 form itself I have a question too. On question number 13. Its asking for the beneficiary's telephone number. Are they asking for the full country and city area code or just the typical number? What has everyone else been writing?

For the home phone and work phone write the whole number It is like how you call your wife from here country city area code and the phone number.

And one more thing, don't leave the work number blank even if she doesn't have one. say "none" if there is no work number. If she does have one, then write the whole thing.

    again Never leave anything blank.

  13. there is not too many of e-mails we talk over the phone using skype lately and before that he just caled me using regural calling cards and never collected them

so it might be not enought

You can print out your skype pages. That is what I did. Open up your skype history,Hit the Printscreen key on your keyboard. Open up word and then right click your mouse. Click on paste. That it !! Easy to do! Good luck

I did that too. Its just that I use YM. Just as easy as what queball said. The difference is I use the paint instead of the MS word. It is much better when u print it in a photo paper than a bond paper. Hope that would help.

    Hi Lhedyjoe

You said you use Yahoo messenger. Could you please tell me how to get the call history in YM.

I would really appreciate that. Thankyou

  14. pushbrk is correct. They are asking about people immigrating. For example, the USC is sponsoring his mother. In this case, she (the mother) might bring her husband with her.

I talked with the Natioanl Visa Center customer service people. I guess you know the number.

It's 603-334-0700 you can choose the option 1 and then 5 to talk to them. I think they are open from 8 to 12 midnight. It is easier to reach them early morning 8 - 8:30 or 11:30 to 12.

    Good luck in your journey.

  15. Packet 4 included a blank DS230. Which we have already filled out and sent to NVC in Sept before case got completed and transfered. Thnking about that I thought I'll resubmit a copy of DS230 that was previously prepared but at that time for Question 21 A/B we put "N/A" as I (petitioner) was not going to India.

However I have now made plans to be with my husband (beneficiary) till interview is completed and we will travel back together.

As far as Questions 21 A/B goes, do we need to prepare a new one and indicate that I will be traveling back along?

Or is it okay to submit the previously prepared and not to mention I'll be along?

No. You don't have to put your name. I was thinking about the same thing and I asked about this to customer service person. she said I(USC) don't have to put my name there even if I go to India and come back with my spouse. You can call the customer service and ask. Let see what they have to say to you.
