  1. My case is a little bit different, but I'll share my experience nonetheless! I am preparing for my interview and before I got DQ'd at the NVC we had submitted my sponsor's tax returns for the past three years, but his most recent tax return was filed as zero dollars because he lived with me in Canada for that tax year and did not work or make any income. He moved back to the US and only began working four months before we had to submit our documents to the NVC. His income was above the poverty guidline, so we did not add a joint sponsor at the time, we just submitted a written explanation of why he made no income for the most recent tax year, along with his paystubs, an offer letter, and his current lease to further prove he's domiciled in the US again. They did accept the documents and they did DQ us, but they also notified us that my sponsor did not meet the income requirements and that I should have a joint sponsor prepared for my interview where the officer will make their final decision. Even though his income was above the poverty limit, I guess the fact that he had a large gap in work/income history prompted them to recommend a joint sponsor. We did not use assets, so maybe having income plus assets will be enough, but if you can in any way find someone willing to be a joint sponsor as a backup it would be the safest option. Good luck!
  2. Yeah, I live closest to it and would rather not travel far, so hopefully it goes smoothly.
  3. I had a feeling that was the case! I am booked with Dr. Michel Lapointe.
  4. Okay thank you for the clarification! The woman I spoke with must have been misinformed on that. I was told to bring 5 passport photos taken within the past 6 months with the backs date-stamped, and yeah it would be US passport specifications.
  5. That's what I thought, so I asked her if that's what she meant by Packet 4. I told her the email address for my interview appointment came from the email national_visa_center@state.gov, and I mentioned that it said in the letter to bring it to my medical exam, and she told me that was not it, and that it had to say Packet 4 at the bottom and include all of the instructions, so now I'm just confused.
  6. I just booked my medical exam and the woman I spoke with mentioned that I have to bring my Packet 4 doc to my medical appointment, but I haven't received anything that says packet 4. She said the email should come from montreal-iv-dv@state.gov but I don't see it anywhere. Is this something I should be expecting soon, or did I just not get it? Has anyone received a packet 4 email after you got your immigrant visa interview appointment email?
  7. Congrats! I haven't tried registering yet, but I've seen this error occur before from other people's experiences, most have said 24-48 hours later they were able to register.
  8. You likely will! I was DQ'd on August 30th and I just received my interview letter, which has been scheduled for Jan 5th. Good luck and hope everyone gets their interview letters soon!
  9. I'm dealing with a similar issue, I got the same FE case review notice about not meeting the income requirements, but I also got a message saying my documents have been accepted and I am documentarily qualified, along with an email stating they are going to schedule an interview. As I understand in the FE notice it says "The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview.", so I assume I could just bring joint sponsor documents to the interview? I would think they wouldn't DQ us if they needed new joint sponsor documents uploaded to CEAC, right? I hope so, anyway, should we just upload the joint sponsor docs to CEAC just encase or will that set us back for further review?
  10. Thank you for your response! My husband's my sponsor and he had no income in 2021 because he did not work that entire year, as he was living in Canada with me at the time and he wasn't allowed to work in Canada. He moved back to the US at the end of 2021 and his current income for 2022 was higher than the poverty threshold when we submitted our documents to the NVC, so I'm assuming we got the joint sponsor notice because his previous years income was zero on his tax return. Regardless our situation has changed and I have to add a joint sponsor because he had to take leave from his job recently and won't make enough this year to be my sole sponsor, but the NVC isn't aware of that yet, so I figured we could combine a household member's income with his to meet the income requirement since his mother lives at the same residence. I guess I was just confused that one message said I need to submit joint sponsor documents and then the other says our documents are approved. I just want to make sure I don't need to submit more documents to CEAC, and can just bring the new docs to the interview instead.
  11. I got an email from the NVC telling me to log into CEAC to check my updated status, when I logged in, my document status changed from submitted to "accepted", but I noticed there were two messages in the inbox and the first message says: "This case does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. " But then another message was sent after it saying: "All required applicant documents have been recieved and approved. Documentarily Qualified." I then got an email saying: "The National Visa Center (NVC) received all of the fees, forms, and documents that are required prior to attending an immigrant visa interview at a U.S. Embassy/Consulate General overseas. NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in MONTREAL, CAN to schedule an interview appointment for you. Once we have confirmed an interview date, we will send a notice to you, your petitioner and attorney (if applicable)." So my question is which is it? Does this mean I should upload new joint sponsor documents to CEAC, or should I just bring new documents to my interview, or was this possibly a mistake? If anyone has experienced something similar, any help would be much appreciated!
  12. Hi, I wanted to see if anyone can clarify some questions I have about the NVC/Consular stage for a marriage based visa. My husband is my sponsor and we filed the I-130 which was approved in May 2022, it was then forwarded to the NVC and we submitted all of the required documents in June. When we submitted our I-864 paperwork, my husband was employed and his annual income covered the threshold needed to sponsor me, but he has since lost his job, and due to some personal things going on in his life, he may not be able to find another job before the interview. His income has been cut off, so now he will not make enough this year to sponsor me on his own. His mother lives at the same residence as him and we saw that you can combine a household member's income so that together it covers the threshold. What I'm wondering is can I bring an updated I-864 and I-864a plus all the required docs for both of them to the interview and can they make a decision on the spot based off that, or will they require me to wait to process it further, and will I have to do another interview because our situation has changed? Also wondering if it is acceptable that my husband will be unemployed by the time I get to my interview. Is he required to be employed even if he is combining his current income with his mom's? Thanks for your help!
  13. My PD is 08/05/2021 and it's also at the CSC, we also submitted an inquiry before the processing dates changed, and heard nothing back, so we tried to send one more and got a notice saying they would reply to the first one within 30 days of the date it was sent, and to send another inquiry if we got no response. We waited and after 30 days passed we attempted again, and it now just says we are within normal processing times and can't send another inquiry until July. My petitioner also reached out to his local congressman over a month ago, and got no reply there either. It sucks just being left in the dark, but here's hoping all us August filers hear some good news soon!
