  1. I was wondering if anyone who filed for a CR-1/IR-1 Visa recently had an interview at the London Embassy would mind sharing their experience with us and some of the questions that were asked. I've searched through forums on the topic of interview but mostly what I have found are K1 visas. We dont have the interview scheduled yet as we just now got to the NVC and got our case number and we have everything ready to go when it is asked for, we're just wondering about the interview and what might be asked.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. My husband was wanting to know if he could go ahead and start getting some of the vaccines (i.e. hep b and tetnaus) or if he should wait to get them at the medical. He's wanting to go ahead and do them now

Does anyone now if it is acceptable to go ahead and get them?

    Hi Helen,

I would suggest Dougie doesn't wait. From his own doctor most of the vaccines are free of charge ..... whereas at the medical they are quite extortionately priced.

Plus with his own doctor the vaccine appointments can be set up in a way that he doesn't have to have them all at once.

If he lives in Cornwall, as I do, then he won't be able to get the TB shot as we don't have TB in Cornwall and so they do not provide it anywhere in the county.

I didn't wait, I've had them all but TB and Hep.

He will then need a vaccination certificate or letter from his doctor to say which one's he's had and when to take to the medical in London.

You can download the list of vaccines required from the links I sent you, in there will be the link to the medicals and vaccines will be mentioned. However he won't need this for most of them as the majority of vaccines required are simply the standard ones required in England.

You can also get to the website for the medical in London and there is also a pricelist of how much it will all cost .... trust me, you don't want a bill for vaccines on top of it.

I would personally get as prepared as you can for all steps ASAP to save rushing around and panicking when the time comes.

The England forum should also carry a list of questions for interview .... of which he'll proably get asked 3 of by the looks of it .... the interview in London isn't a big deal apparently. Infact it looks the same as it was when I had mine for my previous greencard 14 years ago.

Goodluck guys and hopefully you'll be together by August

Thanks for the info Sarah, I'll tell him to go ahead and get what he can/what he needs of them. Not sure where Cornwall is or how close he is to there, but he lives in Colburn (close to Darlington). So I'm not sure what he'll be able to get, but he can find that out on his own through his GP. I read on the NVC site that it suggests not to get them ahead of time because he might not need some of them. I figure this is mostly because they want the $$$ for vaccines cos they are fairly expensive on the prices they show (they're not even that expensive over here). I'm not sure on England's vaccine requirements, but going by the requirements over here if they are anything similar he wont need the MMR or Polio or Pertussis (Tetanus, Diptheria and Pertussis are given in one injection called DTaP) as he is too old for them (again thats over here). But surely his GP would be able to determine what he would need and dont based on age and previous vaccines. Tetanus and Diphtheria over here are given as one injection. I read that the varicella vaccine isn't avaliable in the UK, so I'm not sure how that one will work, but he had chickenpox when he was a child. Not sure how the pneumonia vacc would work with him either as over here it is only recommended for those who suffer from it chronically or are 65 and older. I don't know if the general rule for vaccines goes out the window when they are immigration-related.

  3. My husband was wanting to know if he could go ahead and get the vaccines he will need for the medical exam. Does anyone know if its okay for him to go ahead and get them now or should he wait for the medicial? I know some of the required vaccines he wont need, but the others, such as Hep B & Tetanus he could go ahead and get?

  4. We got our NOA2 in the mail today. The receipt date is now Dec 28, 2007 (which is when we got our NOA1) and there is now a priority date: September 10, 2007 (which was the day the TSC received our I-130). Question is: what is the priority date for? Just curious.

I called the NVC today for the first time, to my surprise they already had a case number for us, I figured it would be a few more weeks before they received let alone assigned us a case number.

Your petition is now approved (NOA2) by the USCIS. Approved CR1 petitions will be forwarded by USCIS to National VIsa Center (NVC).

It takes about two to four weeks before NVC receive your approved petition. Once received, NVC will assign your case a new NVC case number and will send you instructions on how to move forward.

I suggest reading the guides in the NVC forum.

As I stated in my original post, the NVC received our petition and assigned us our case number (LNDXXXXXXXXXX) on May 1, 2008. We got the approval (NOA2) on April 29, 2008. They (NVC) had our approved petition and assigned a case number before we even got the hard copy of the NOA2 in the mail. I called using our CIS receipt number (EACXXXXXXXXXX) and learned they had our petition and a case number assigned already. But thanks anyhow for the information

  6. Thank you everyone I really appreciate your help. I got certified copies of the marriage cert. I don't know if my husband will be able to get a certified orginial of his birth cert or not, but I'm gonna ask him and see.

If your Husband is the English one then certified copies of birth certificates are easy

    http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

They take about a week .... get a couple of them so you have spares on file

My husband is the English one thanks so much for the link, he was trying to figure out how to rearrange his schedule to be able to travel to get his birth cert, good to know he can get it online.

    Thanks

    Helen

  7. Okay I have a couple of questions concerning the I-864, if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

We have a joint sponsor. So heres the questions:

    1. When I mail in my I-864 to the NVC, do I send the joint sponsor's I-864 and her husbands I-864A in at the same time?

    and if so...

    2. Do I pay a fee for all three ($210) or just the $70 fee?

If I don't have to send in our joint sponsor's I-864/I-864A to the NVC it can't be rejected at this point based on my income can it?

And I thought getting a NOA2 would reduce a little bit of the stress HA! :bonk: I've cooked up a whole new batch of things to worry about

  8. Thanks again everyone, I hope this means things are moving with VSC now and all of ya will be getting ya's approvals soon. While I'm absolutely giddy and even did my own verison of the Snoopy Dance, I feel awful for everyone still waiting. I wish ya all the best and the fastest of approvals, I honestly don't think I could have kept my sanity (what little I have left now anyhow) without the people on this site you guys are all wonderful for a laugh a vent and support. What made today really great was that my husband and I were having our online daily webcam chat and trying to avoid the immigration subject when the "You have a new message from CRIS" box popped up, so we got to share it together.

I'll still have alot more questions I'm sure now that I'm in unknown waters again, but hopefully he and I can be together for Thanksgiving this year. Or atleast we might actually get to have our 2nd wedding anniversary together as we were unable to spend our 1st together.

    Thanks again everyone for everything.
