  • Our Story
I met Seth in 2013 when I went to the states as an exchange student. I became friends with his sister but we didn't really talk at that time lol. Two years after that, he hit me up on Messenger and we started talking for a bit, got to know each other and then stopped talking for a year (for some reason). In 2017, we started talking again and this time we were just unstoppable! We couldn't stop talking to each other and that's how it all started! We finally met up in 2019 before he went on deployment. It was a long painful year being apart, plus knowing that he was in an extremely risky area. But we went through that while maintaining our sanity! We met up again after he got back home safely in 2020. And during this time, we got married 💕 And now we're apart again but trying to get our visa processed asap so we can reunite again!

  1. Updates I'm filing for divorce as soon as today or tomorrow to get the ball rolling. I had a consultation with an immigration lawyer who suggested the same thing, to divorce asap and file i-751. My concern right now is the timing for RFE. My jurisdiction requires 120 days of waiting period, which will be Feb 1, 2024, if I file today. I will be filing i-751 on Dec 24, 2023. When do they usually ask for RFE? Would they be asking for finalized divorce paper? And would they give me some time to send back? I'm just worried that I won't have the finalized paperwork ready when RFE requested and then risk being removed from the states.
  2. Hi OldUser, I'm not sure what this mean. Can you please elaborate more? Thank you.
  3. No, we separated since June this year. He just has no permanent place to stay and has been forwarding all his mail to my place.
  4. I guess I heard many people said the further we can push the divorce back the better it is. Can you explain why option 1 is better? Thank you.
  5. Background: I got married to my spouse in January 2021 and received my conditional green card in March 2022. I'm about to file i-751 in December, however, we have been separated since June this year (2023). We tried so many things and went to marriage counseling for almost a year and even our counselor agreed that sometimes the best that we can get out of the counseling is realizing that we shouldn't keep causing each other pain anymore. We were in a relationship since 2017 and I thought I knew the person well enough but long-distance relationship can be cruel, I didn't learn about his issues with alcohol until we started living together. He also had severe attachment and abandonment issues that didn't allow him to connect with me in a deeper level. We tried going through individual therapy, for him to work through those issues and for me to learn how to cope when I'm triggered (I have a father with alcohol issues as well). But it just didn't work out unfortunately. Current Situation: Right now, he wants to get divorce as soon as possible (he's going through much pain and has been suicidal because of the breakup) but is willing to push it back until a few months after I file i-751. I also want to get it done too but I'm not sure if it's better for me to start the divorce process while i-751 is pending. I'm willing to push as much as I need to. So right now I'm considering... 1. Starting the divorce process now, before filing i-751. My concern is that my chances of getting approved would be lower and the process would take longer. 2. File i-751 in December 2023, and sometime at the first half of 2024, start the divorce process. My concern is that it would complicate the immigration process. But I also feel like it might give me a better chance of approval. I'm also not sure if I should hire a lawyer to do this for me. I know I'm very capable of getting all the paperwork ready. I did everything myself the first time around to get the conditional one. But I was wondering if having a lawyer would increase my chance somehow. I attached a picture of the documents I have prepared so far to prove that my marriage was of good faith. If anyone thinks lawyer is a way to go, can you give me an estimate of how much it would cost? Thank you so much. P.S. Other info about me... I'm based in Madison, WI and have been working full-time since I got my green card. I work as a research analyst. I also had been supporting my spouse financially since he's still in school and only works part-time. So, I was the main source of income in the family. He's still on all of my premium insurance and is also my beneficiary since I know he needs it until he graduates next year and starts working full-time.
  6. I recently filed for extension of stay because of the covid situation in home country. I was hoping that by the time I return the situation should be better and I have a DQ’d CR1 in process right now. So my original plan is to go home for the interview. However, after a careful consideration and a serious conversation with my husband. We decided that it might be better to file for I-485 and abandon the consular process. And now I don’t know what to do with I-539. Do I withdraw it or something? I have a biometrics appointment coming up next week. Should I go to that first and then withdraw it? I feel like it was a mistake filing for the extension but I did it out of panic because I wanted to file it at least 45 days before my i-94 expires. So i did that last minute and realized that wasn’t the good choice. Please kindly advise. I am just afraid they will consider that fraud or misrepresentation or something. I just have no intention at all. Thanks a lot.
  7. I have one more question though. For supporting documents, I would need sponsor's ID, his tax transcripts and W2. But at this stage, do I need documents like, passport copy with visa page, 2x2 photos of me and the sponsor, birth certificate, marriage certificate, criminal record, and proof of relationship? Thank you in advance.
  8. Thank you so much. This is very clear and helpful. I really appreciate it. The only concern I have is our case get denied. I know that there's a risk for sure compared to the normal consular process, but not sure if I have to worry so much about that in my case. Thanks again. Thank you so much!
  9. I have my CR1 DQ’d and I'm only waiting for the interview back in Thailand. However, I'm considering changing to AOS because of the covid situation in Thailand and some health related issues. For the AOS process, is it correct that I only need to submit: I-485, I-131, I-765, G-1145, and Approval Notice from USCIS? As for I-864, do I need to resubmit that since I submitted it to NVC not USCIS? Thank you in advance. (Anyone has similar experience, please kindly share with me) It’s not a final decision yet but I’m really considering it.
