  1. This is a little confusing. No where in the letter from the embassy did it ask for a complete DS-156 but yet on their website it requires the completion of DS-156 for her CR1 interview this Thursday. Can anyone shed a light please. Thanks in advance.

PS...she is very nervous right now. She's afraid her application would be denied because the last time she applied for a B1 visa (which was approved), the CO kept asking why it took me 6 months to finally apply for I-130. She told him that we didn't know that there was all this steps and red tape we had to go through. I had thought that since she is married to a USC, all we had to do is go to the embassy and applied for spouse visa....I thought wrong. But the CO didn't accept that and kept asking her why until she showed him our NOA1. Wish me luck guys.

  2. The one thing I noticed about my wife's B1 visa was they only gave her 90 days validity and not 10 years like most tourist that I know of. Which was bogus since the cost remains the same for all tourist visa application. Thus it cost us USD200 for the visa for two trips. Three other friends that I know off that had recently visited the US were given 10 years multiple entry visa @ usd 100 only.

  3. Hmmmm.....my wife went to the Malaysian embassy on March of 2007 with the intend to ask for a tourist visa to visit me in Kansas. She brought along a few paper work such as our I-130 NOA1 and other stuff showing her financial statements from the banks, marriage certificate, our bio-graphic and also a copy of the I-130 itself. The counselor looked through the paperwork and repeatedly asked her why it took me this long to apply for the I-130 as we were married in July of 2006 and I did not apply for the CR-1 until February of 2007. He was very rude to the Mrs. and refused to accept her answer which was at the time I was applying for several jobs in Malaysia as an ex-pat. As he browse through the paperwork he noticed the NOA1 and immediately stamped B1 visa approved for 90 days only.

She made it here at the end of April. Upon her arrival, the immigration officer gave her 6 months period to visit here. We had a blast travelling through the country. Celebrate our first wedding annivessary in Vegas. After 2.5 months, we sadly had to depart temporarily until I visited her in October. So......who is right as I have the prove that my wife was here during the summer of 2007.

  4. Hello everyone!

I have a few questions about the DS-230. I am hoping that you can help me.

    1. Do you have to fill out the DS-230 with all capitals letters? I have heard that you do.

    2. On question #20 what do you put for the final date for your residence? My wife will be leaving Japan once she has her visa but we do not know the date. Can she put “present” here?

    Thanks!!!

    :help:

    1. instruction states type or print (i'm sure with capital letters)

    2. clearly print "present" since you can't type that word there.

    gud lak

  5. Anyone out there who waited over a year to apply for CR1/IR1, did you have a good excuse to share explaning this to the embassy? The last time my wife applied for a tourist visa to visit me (which was approved) the counselor kept nagging her why it took me 7 months to finally submit I-130. She tried to explained that at the time time, I had full intension going to Malaysia and work...but to no avail. He still wouldn't get off that topic and kept asking her why I didn't apply sooner.

  6. Thanks for your help. Anybody know about the 12 week waiting for the London US Embassy?? Is that true or not?

Has anyone had any experience with the London Embassy and knows if they waited ages or was it roughly just a month from NVC sending the file until the interview date?

My wife was here in the US visiting me last summer with a visitor visa while waiting for the USCIS approval. No issues other than the embassy personnel was giving her a hard time because I didn't start the CR1 process sooner.

  7. Hi does anyone know if the NVC sends insturctions in duplicate? I filled out the DS-230 Part I and mailed it per their checklist letter. A week later I recived another letter teling me to go to the "Applicant Document Preocessing link". I have already done all of this. The date on the letter is 9/3/2007, which is dated before the 9/6/2007 checklist letter that the NVC sent me asking for the DS-230 form. Does the NVC send duplicate instructions?

    Hi consumer,

Assuming you are only doing an application for one person, that is kind of strange, I have never heard of it.

I think it might be a good idea to give them a call.

    Good luck!

The duplicate request for the submission of DS-230 seems to occur if you have submitted the I-864 prior to submitting DS-230. The case is not complete until both forms were submitted. Both forms must co-exist during the NVC review, if only one of the form is present during the review, an automatic notification will be generated until both forms are in the possesion of NVC.

Hopefully bearing good news....NVC case completed. Congrats to the two of you and those celebrating their anniversary.

    Hey..where is Jigi????

  9. I received my IV bill on August 9, 2007 and sent it the next day – August 10, 2007 and haven’t gotten anything back since. I called NVC the last week of August and they said that they received my IV bill on August 20, 2007 and should wait 4-6 weeks for the DS-230. I then called the State Dept. the next day and they told me that its currently being processed and be more patient. Is it just the peeps who’ve gotten their IV bill on the month of August?? I see here that most of the peeps got their IV bill the first week of August. :crying:

Yes, sadly you're stuck too :(. The people who sent in their fees between the 2nd and the 10th of August have been stuck at NVC :(... the rest have been processed fine according to the usal approx. 10 day wait. You're not alone, there are like ten of us on these forums at least. Still, it really sucks :(.

hello...I guess I was very lucky as I sent my IV Bill on 8-02-07 and had gotten the DS-230 cover letter almost 4 weeks later on 9-01-07. The completed forms is on its way to Portsmouth as we speak. Hopefully there will be no hold up there. Anticipating "Case to be Completed" by the end of this month and interview scheduled mid November. My wife will then have to give 3 months notice before she can actually move here to be with me. Planning on being there at the embassy with her for morale support. Gud luck folks.

  10. No, I'm talking about standard NVC processing - the kind that you send only the Part I of DS 230 and biographic page of the passport and NVC sends the case to the embassy, and the embassy schedules the interview. Nothing to do with the cases where NVC schedules the interviews. So there should not be variability by the country/embassy.

Per telephone conversation I had with a NVC Rep, it will be 4-6 weeks for them to review completed applications of I-864 and DS-230 and declare case is completed. Then they will forward to the respective embassy. Browsing through the VJ members timeline, some applications took 3 weeks and others may take several months for an interview to be scheduled (varies with embassy). Best way to find out is to browse through other members timeline who has similar embassy as yours.

  11. According to the Department of State web site, the choice of agent only needs to send to the NVC a copy of passport's biographic data page along with the DS-230. The police certificate will be needed at the time of interview. Please check out the link below and choose your embassy to make sure and also follow with a phone call to the NVC just to have your bases covered. It may be that they changed the process for your embassy but they haven't updated their web site to reflect the changes.

    Thanks...

The same thought crossed my mind that there may have been a policy change at the embassy. I was hoping to get a response from another Malaysian who is waiting for CR1 or IR1 visa or had recenty interviewed for one. Nevertheless, I will call NVC first thing Tuesday morning to cover my bases.

    Thanks again.

  12. Hello...

I had just received DS-230 and included in the envelope is a copy of "how to obtain a police certificate from the Malaysian Internal Affairs Ministry". My guess is, this is intended for my Malaysian spouse. My question is, do I need to mail this certificate along with the DS-230. Contrary to the embassy website, police report is only required during the interview.

    Thanks in advance...futballdad

  13. NVC voice mail says that my I-864 is incomplete. Once I rec. the letter from NVC, do they require a revised I-864, or just

    provide the missing info.

    3/14/07: I-130 accepted by USCIS

6/01/07: Case approved and forwarded to NVC

7/17/07: DS-3032 and AOS accepted by NVC

    8/06/07: Mailed IV bill

    8//13/07: Mailed I-864

    8/20/07: DS-230 Mailed from NVC

8/24/07: AOS package missing data and incomplete

I've read somewhere in the forum that your AOS is incomplete until they've received the DS-230. You might want to confirmed this with NVC.

  14. hello lady jane sweety,

I callled NVC from India but they didnt take my call and told to call after 6 Pm eastern time... Ridiculous( I wish they Hired More people in call Centre)

I am doing thaty only...... My wife is sending NVC portsmouth and St louis people similar letters containing the following to locate out payment.

    1) Copy of USPS Receipt

2)Xerox Copy of 380 bill payment( money order of bank)

    3) Letter stating My Case Details and other stuff.

jigi....have you had the chance to talk to a representative at NVC? You need to know your status from them. No point getting angry and driving youself nuts. Go rent a movie. Go to the mall. Keep yourself busy. But foremost, you have to talk to someone at NVC and confirm the status of your case. Keep calling 603-334-0700. It took me several days to finally get a hold of someone. My USPS certified mail was worthless. Even my cashiers check was not endorsed (cashed on 8-16-07). But they did confirmed that my AOS was received on 8-22-07 (mailed 8-15-07) and IV Bill received on 8-15-07 (mailed 8-02-07). Per conversation, the AOS will be reviewed within the next 4 weeks and the DS-230 cover letter will be mailed to me sometime next week.

    Gud Luck......futballdad

  15. I mean NVC only...... there is no contact number of Cali service Centre.... Jane..................LOL

    GOd Help

    Jigi

    Jigi....

I-130 goes to CSC. Once approved they will forward your case to NVC. Basically, the date "your case will be completed on...." on their website has nothing to do with CR1/IR1 application at all. The provided date on the website meant that it is the expected date when your I-130 will be approved. Once CSC has fowarded your case to NVC, you will have to call 603-334-0700 to check your status. Call that number to get updates on your CR1/IR1 status.

Do you think these guys are still reviewing the I -864. Because they havent encashed the payment yet... what can be the problem guys.... help me out.....

    God bless u

    Jigi

Call NVC. Ask them the status of your case. I mailed my IV Bill on 8-02-7 via USPS Certified Mail. Unfortunately, it still shows that the mail has not arrived in St. Louis. But the check was cashed without endorsement on 8-16-07. But a call to NVC reveals that the DS-230 was generated on 8-16-07.

  17. For questions 1 and 3 check this thread. We just discussed both of those questions and there are info of what others have put in there...

For the questin 2, you probably mean the "A" No on question 25 (prior visits to the US) right? Since you come from the Netherlands you are under the VWP, which means that you haven't gotten a visa to the US when you've visited (unless you have, of course, studied there or equal).

Thanks for your helpfull replay, i do have a visa, a 6 months visitor one. useable for 10 years. I filled out the name of the visa (R, B1/B2), but couldnt find an A number anywhere in my passport...

There is no "A" number for visitor/tourist visa.
