Guiness-
Your email from the embassy says
The Immigrant Visa Unit is returning your passport to you, without a visa, as your application requires further review by a consular officer. In addition, your medical examination results are being sent to the Center for Disease Control for analysis. We can assure you that as soon as this review is complete, you will be contacted promptly.
When he had his interview it was only the medical issue and nothing else correct? I only ask because of the wording, in addition but that is just me being me....... Did he ever contact Knightsbridge and ask for the results besides what we know? If so and everything else was fine, then its up to CDC to complete and send back to the embassy.
I dont want to say that it will be quick, no one knows, but the UK does move fast on alot of issues, this one I am not sure of.
Try to google this issue and maybe you can get a hit from a thread somewhere out there in cyberworld- keeping fingers crossed and sending prayers your way
Cheers
I'm confused by the wording too. He says all the medical stuff was negative. But even if he had something bad, why don't they tell us?
I believe my husband when he says that everything else is OK. I know this is about the situational depression he went through. WHat I don't understand is, are you telling me there is no one in London qualified to read a psychiatrist report! I've read the CDC site over and over. I know ALL immigrants with medical issues go there, so how long does that take. All I would like is for someone at the DoS or CDC or London Embassy to say ' it takes an average of....'
Should he get a job and find a place to live? Are we talking weeks, months, a year?
Help!

After my husband was told he was approved at the interview he got his passport back with no visa. The UK Embassy e-mailed him.
This is what they e-mailed to us:
"We regret that the adjudicating consular officer does not appear to have contacted you concerning your application; we have been investigating this matter with the Immigrant Visa Unit.
The Immigrant Visa Unit is returning your passport to you, without a visa, as your application requires further review by a consular officer. In addition, your medical examination results are being sent to the Center for Disease Control for analysis. We can assure you that as soon as this review is complete, you will be contacted promptly.
I regret my response could not be more positive, however I hope this is responsive to your inquiry.
Sincerely,"
So we e-mail them asking how long would the review take.
They e-mailed back:
"We regret we are not able to provide a timeframe for CDC completing this review. Once CDC refer the file back to the Embassy, a consular officer will have to review the case and you will be contacted promptly with the outcome of the review.
Sincerely,"
So I called the Dept of State to see if they knew how long it would take and they have no timeframe. The CDC info line is outsourced so you are not able to speak with anyone who has a clue as to how long it will take.
So now I am asking you, has anyone experienced anything like this? I mean, it took 386 days to get an interview with the London Embassy!
And we were wrong in assuming it would be OK. My husband sold his house, quit his job and closed his UK bank accounts. Now we really are in a mess.
If anyone has a clue please let me know. Thank you...

Does anyone know how long it takes the CDC to review the medical? I can't get a straight answer from the Dept. of State. And they say there is no contact # for the CDC so I can follow the progress.
I know about the class A and B. I hope and pray we are class B and can get the visa done.
Does anyone have any idea or has anyone personally been through the CDC for a review?
Thanks,
G*

Hey Guys-again thanks for the replies...
It appears that my medical records have been sent to the CDC in Atlanta, to the best of knowledge I don't have any diseases (or ever have had) that could affect my application.
Here's the kicker though...when I was in my teens I had a single episode of self-harm, I still have scars and I was honest about the whole thing, both during my medical and during my interview. As a result the Dr at my medical asked me to provide an independant psychiatrists report, which I did. The report made very positive reading, saying that the chances of anything happening in the future were unlikely and that I am in a sound state of mental health.
So now it's another wait.
Where I go or what I do if they find against me I just don't know. Has anyone else had to deal with the CDC and does anyone have any idea how long this may take?
Good luck all

I had my interview 12 Sept. The consulate told me that I was approved but she just wanted to check out one thing on my medical report but it would be ok for me to tell my wife and kids that I was coming home.
I waited over a week before I heard anything. Then yesterday I recieved an e-mail saying that they were returning my passport with no visa in it as my case was still under review.
Does this mean that it's been rejected and they will be telling me by post? Is there anyway for me to appeal against this?
Can someone please help us-we are all absolutely devastated.

Andy is approved! His interview was Fri. the 12th. They said his passport should be back by Fri. the 19th so we booked a flight for Sat. the 20th. We are both so relieved. Finally, this part is over. I know we still have a ways to go but this hurdle has been the greatest since we could not be together.
From filing the I129 to the interview took 386 days. I was beginning to doubt it would happen for us but it has. So my advice to all who are still waiting is have faith and DON'T COUNT THE DAYS!
I'll be sure Andy posts a review when he can get to a computer.
Thanks for all of your help,
LJ

Congrats and good luck!
So glad to see so many moving after the August slow down.
Good luck and try to stay patient. It helps if you don't count the days. * Mine and hubby's only took 386 days from receipt of 129F to interview!*

Who has the updated interview list? There must be alot of us on it now.
Good luck to all of us, especially our loved ones who are bricking it over this interview!

Andy and I would like to add our date. Our interview is Sept 12th. Fingers crossed it all goes well.
Thanks,

Congrats!
My husband's interview is Sept 12th. He is the same way. He is absolutely freaking out over everthing he needs to be ready. Birth certificate, police record, marriage certificate, and on and on...
I really think its sort of funny. He has all these documents and he's had 386 days to get ready for this interview.
Well, I hope all goes well for you and yours.
Cheers,
LJ

I just called the NVC and today was the last day of scheduling interviews for September in Cairo, Egypt. She said to call back the second week of September to find out when the interview is going to be in October.
Since our case was completed on 8-08-08, is there a way to estimate when the interview will be in October??
Our case was completed 6-3-08. Still waiting for interview date

Just recieved an e-mail from the London Embassy. All it says is that the delay is because our application requires "further administrative action" and when this is completed I will recieve further instructions.
So-still none the wiser....
But like Lj said, thank you all so much for your replies, it means alot.

Hi,
I just wanted to drop in and tell you that I am praying that it all works out for you soon. I am sorry that you are having such a bumpy ride so far. I hope the rest will be a breeze.
Stevi
Thank you so much. We both need a few positive thoughts our way. The 13th was our first anniversary and we both stayed positive thinking this is the only anniversary we have to be apart(hopefully).
Thank you again.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I'll try that Dept of State number today. From what we can gather our I130 is lost. It has taken this long to finally get someone to research it. I spoke with someone in the USCIS who said they would put a request in and the search would begin Sept 9! So I waited 1 day and spoke to another person who said I could request 'expidite'. So I did, who knows if that will work.
I still cannot figure out how people have been able to 'see' there visa's progress. For example people say their visa has been 'touched'. How do you know. Maybe if we could see the progress, then maybe we could figure out what went wrong.
I do want to say again, thank you for replying. I was beginning to think I was all alone in here! LOL

I'm in Dothan. Just a hop skip and jump from GA and FL. The Gulf of Mexico, to me, is the best place on earth!
My husband is a UK national and he was really surprised when he visited for the first time. He really enjoys talking with the Souhterners. Although most people here think he is from Australia! LOL
He is from Birmingham England. I can't wait to take him to Birmingham, AL.
Don't worry about the stereotypes. There is good and bad everywhere.
The schools system is poor, however, the Mobile area and part of Birmingham has the best public schools.
My husband really hates ice tea. He says he'll never get used to it!
You really will be surprised how recieving the people are. Good luck, and ya'll take care!

I posted this in the K3 general disscusion thread but have not received any replies...I thought I would re-post it here to see if I did any better, I hope noone minds.
Hi Everyone,
I'm just hoping that someone out there can give my wife and I some kind of hope, or advice. We began our visa journey last August, everything got filed and we recieved approval notices for both I-129 and I-130 last year.
Our K3 application is currently in London, I returned packet 3 along with the paperwork checklist in April and had my medical, we then heard nothing until 3rd June when they confirmed that my paperwork had been processed, since then we've heard nothing. No interview date no RFE or RFI nothing.
Whenever I've tried calling they have said no more than I just have to wait. It's been over nine weeks now and we are both getting worried. Has anyone else out there had to wait this long for a London interview? Are any other London August filers still waitng for an interview date?
To make matters worse we tried to track down our I-130 application. The USCIS confirmed that our application had been approved and moved on to the NVC.
The NVC say that they have recieved nothing. We've called, e-mailed, begged, sent copies of our approval notices but still have heard nothing.
Do we have cause for concern or is it just our impatience hurting us? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hope everyone else has beeter luck than we are having right now,
G.

My husband is from the UK. We married in Aug. and filed I-130 then I-129F. We were approved for both March 10th.
Andy got his packet3 in April and everything was recieved and processed by the Embassy in London June 3. We are still waiting for packet 4 which is the interview letter.
When they say it can take up to a year they aren't kidding!
If you scroll down to General discussions area there is a sub-forum for the UK. I stay there and see where others are to get an idea of when this all will be over.
Hope this helps.

Congrats!
Fill us in on the plans to come over. Are you nervous about the big move?

Maven - Is your duvet in the car?
Nope -- too hot! Got the air con going again this morning after a recharge in Hagerstown. We drove 400 miles (200 a piece) and are now relaxing in a motel in Bulls Gap, TN. TN, a tiny bit of GA, AL and possibly a smidge of MS tomorrow!
Hey Y'all! I'm here in Bama, and yes, it was quite warm today. Andy says the only good thing about being in the UK right now is skipping the southern summer

Hi there! Received NOA2. Very relieved. Now working on the affidavit of support for my London gentleman.
Anyone know what additional evidence the embassy requires: pay stubs, tax returns, etc?
Also, What exactly do they mean by a letter/statement from a bank official about your savings? I've got some mutual funds as well... do I need to provide official documentation of those as well?
Thanks!
http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-134.pdf
The top of the form is very detailed. We made sure everything was 'official'. Even down to a statement from my employer on official letterhead about my job title and annual salary. It never hurts to be over prepared. Hope this helps.

Andy went through the "missing form" ordeal also. I phoned th DoS and they found it the day after Andy sent another one in. I think they simply do not see all that has been logged in and count that as missing.
However, our approval was March 10, the embassy recieved everything June 3(according to the DoS), and we still have not heard a thing about his interview. I just hope we can be together on our 1st anniversay, Aug.13!
-
I am really starting to worry. I called DoS the other day and a nice lady said everything (packet 3) was recieved June 3rd and yet Andy still does not have packet 4 and an interview date.
If I'm following the embassy timeline, it is 10 to 12 weeks after they recieve packet 3 to interview? That would be Sept! Our anniversary is August 13.
What can I do? Do I continue to call DoS? I can't even figure out how everyone can see if their case has been "touched".
I'm sure somewhere on here these answer have been given 100 times but if anyone can give me some idea of what is going on or what I can do, PLEASE HELP!
Dont worry
I would give it a few more days my packet 3 was received on 29th May ( even though i sent it on 22 May ) and got packet 4 on Saturday (14th June) - i would ring them towards the end of the week and see if they have set a date yet as that will be on the system a couple of days before the letter arrives
Thank you for your reply. When Andy and I started this process(August 15th,2007!) I was calm and level headed. But every week that goes by is sooooo frustrating! I can appreciate how hard it is for all of you. I can't imagine some of the other countries that take longer, God blees them. Thanks for the support, even when you didn't know you were giving it.

How long does it take the CDC to review medical?
in K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
UPDATE:
Wednesday, October 9, my husband called to say the Embassy phoned to let him know his visa was ready to process. They apologized for it going to the CDC in the first place. They said they were going to look into what happened.
Anyway, SMS picked up his passport on Thursday and we counted it as well as Friday in the 3 days it should take to process it and get it back. Unfortunately, we got a bit worried when we did not hear anything Monday from SMS. We were unaware the Embassy took US holidays and were closed for Columbus day. So Tuesday the Embassy told my husband he would have his passport with visa on Thursday. And for once, they were right.
He flew home Friday and we are finally together.
Thank you all for your support, PM's and replies of encouragement.
Good luck to all,
Andy and LisaJo
