  1. The USCIS says our application was approved on Nov. 19th, but so far I haven't received any sort of e-mail notice, or more importantly the hardcopy.

Is this unusual? I know quite a few other folks were approved on the same day, so have you all received your hardcopy? I tried calling up the Visa Center today to see if my case had been received, but they didn't have my case number on file and told me that if I didn't have that letter than the website approval didn't really mean very much.

  2. Hello all Japan filers,

I wanted to say hi and to tell you that I got the approval (NOA2) on Nov. 19.

I noticed it when I checked the website because my fience and I didn't get

    the email notification from USCIS.

I called him soon and we are so happy. I hope the rest of the process will be done soon.

I hope all Japan filers can get the visa soon.

    Miki

Have you guys gotten your hard copy yet? We were approved on the website on the same day, Nov. 19th, but so far no e-mail and no letter.... :crying:

  3. in my experience, it's exTREMEly rare for someone to go very long without a reply, and for those who do, I doubt it has anything to do with where they come from... I'm happy to answer many questions, but if it's clear to me the person hasn't done the first thing to help themselves - read the guides, or do a basic search, say - then I'd rather not answer; it just seems the height of laziness to expect other people to type out huge long answers that already exist elsewhere, particularly when some of those questions are asked seventeen times a week ;)

that's just me, but I doubt I'm alone there ;)

Not that rare....my first post on VJ (although I had been reading it for awhile) was an honest request for advice, that got zero replies....I was bummed, but....

    Here it is!

  4. Sh1te ...

Using a foreign based address had better not mean a return - we have no current USA address on our i-129-F and we got our NOA1 OK to the UK. We did put a USA address on the i-129F form 'Question 14. Address in the United States where your fiancé(e) intends to live.'

Doesn't it make sense that some people might be living together in other countries and not have a USA mailing address for whatever reason?

    Worried now!!!

Yeah, that's what we did too. That's what I meant by "kind of..." I used my Japan address for everything, but put that down as our destination.

And we got our NOA2 approved and all that, soo....

  5. Hi Gill,

I haven't got any email notification from USCIS. So I didn't notice till I checked the online status site.

I thought the email notice was supposed to get when my status was changed or updated, though.

But as long as the website says we are approved, so I think it should be OK.

    I hope it helps.

    Miki

Yaaayyy!!! I didn't get any e-mail today, but because of this post, I checked up on the USCIS website and....

    Approved!!!

Now just waiting for the official letter!

  6. Hey all!

Unlike many folks, I actually currently live with my finance overseas (in Japan). I have lived here for a couple of years, we met here and have been living together for 2 years. We started the K1 visa journey so we could move back to the US, get married and live there for awhile before deciding what country we want to settle down in.

The problem is, we recently changed apartments, and when I tried to update the new address, I couldn't change it from an overseas address to an overseas address. I called up, and was told that the staff's computer wouldn't allow them to make the change either, and I would have to write a letter to the California service center in order to get it changed.

I am a bit loathe to do this, for fear that it would put a glitch in the process, and make it stretch out even further. We are early July filers, so are hoping to get our NOA2 soon. (The NOA1 arrived just fine at our address in Japan). The post office will forward any mail to our new address, so I don't think it will be a problem. But you never know...

So, what do you think? Is it best just to leave well enough alone, not go through the headache of changing address for a place we don't plan to be in that much longer anyways? That is the way I am leaning, but figured I would gather some advice.

    Thanks!
