I think you are my VJ hero today, Johnny.
For the love of god, yes. The level of unabashed f^cktardedness seems to be rising on a nearly daily basis. Even if giving a "-1" gave pleasure only to the one who doled it out, it would be deeply satisfying.
Campaign to Bring Back the "-1" rating starts NOW.
Edit to add: And while we're at it, bring back rebeccajo, who I believe was a completely self-contained "-1" system unto herself.
Edit to add redux: Fixx0red atrocious grammar in the addendum; I got the case all wrong. Oh, the shame.

For the record, I took my kitty on Air France from LHR to LAX at the end of June 2008 during the heat embargo - I took her on as hand luggage with a letter from the vet saying she was fine to travel and a list of all her shots. Cost about 150 quid and she was fine. I let her out in the bathroom on the plane a couple times, but she was good as gold considering the trauma of international travel in a tiny carrier. I don't see how you can be spending 600-900 unless you are having a company manage it all for you which costs around that. I can't see something changing so much for apparently no reason over the last couple years...

Just to clarify something, Boiler is right in correcting the OP. The Visa Waiver Program is a US government program. There is a UK equivalent which indeed works in a similar way to the VWP but it is not the VWP.

Sorry for the drive-by, but I just had to say to Gary:
Gary, I hope that you are, in reality, some kind of very deep-in-to-character comedian working on material for what will be the funniest show to ever tackle the subject of delusional, self-obsessed fools. You have seriously got it down pat. It's funny stuff man, stop waiting, start writing. I vote for 'Gary' to be played by Wayne Knight.

You were wrong, I told you so, people who came along and read your incorrect info, would see in that same thread, relatively near by, that the information was incorrect. Since this isn't a board about immigration to Ireland, and in both cases your response was a tangent from the OP, I didn't go in to any further detail. For your information, and from your own link:
You can find further details about the application that is required from the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service.

First, let me just say that visually the new VJ is quite pleasing, very "web 2.0." Nice job, the hard work shows. The bugs are a little annoying right now (especially reading history not carrying over between computers) but I'm confident they'll be worked out in time.
The reputation system, however, is a terrible, terrible idea. All it's going to do is turn Visa Journey into a less fun version of Mafia Wars. The fact that you can only mod a certain number of posts per day won't stop anybody, but it *will* encourage cliques to mob-mod, as well as encourage sock puppet creation.
Please drop the reputation system. The good that comes from it will be completely overshadowed by the bad.

Jeraly reacted to John and Camie in AOS before or after I-94 expires
We didn't file AOS before our I-94 expired. Not because we didn't WANT to, but because I was UNEMPLOYED and couldn't afford to. Instead, we worked on our AOS and saved up for the fee while I looked for work.
There are so many people on VJ going through this exact nightmare. To "my people:" you're NOT going to be thrown in a wagon and shipped back to your native country if you don't file before the I-94 is up. Don't let anyone scare you. Save up for AOS, work on your AOS, and file it when you CAN. If you already have the money (just no job), then get a co-sponsor, collect your forms/docs and file.
Things happen. You file when you file, just make sure you stay on top of it; don't let it fall by the wayside, no matter how depressing your unemployment gets. Working on our AOS was one of the things (besides each other) that kept our spirits up.

    *sigh*
You couldn't be more wrong. Well, yes you could. You could say something like "you must be married and submit proof of having had consensual relations with a Massey-Ferguson 8670 250HP 4WD tractor, notarized via certified mail in a create," and that would definitely have been "more wrong," but I'm just gonna go with "you couldn't be more wrong" anyway because it's so very very very wrong.
    Anyway.
    - You do NOT have to file AOS before your I-94 expires. The expiration on your I-94 is the date that you are required to be married by. It has zero to do with AOS. You could file AOS 20 years after the I-94 expires if you wanted to, and not a single USCIS person is going to use the word "I-94" in the ensuing discussion, unless it's something like "so did you have any problems with the traffic on I-94?"
    - A K1 entrant does not even have to file AOS...ever. EVER. Having said that, not filing AOS would be pretty inadvisable, as the immigrant would not be eligible to work, get a drivers license in many states, obtain citizenship, and a whole slew of other benefits. But technically there is no requirement to adjust status for a K1 immigrant.
The problem with absorbing vast amounts of information over a very short period of time, filtering that information through your own head, and then handing out your own understanding as if each one was nougat-covered factual confection , is that you haven't taken the time to digest the information and really understanding how it all works. You've barely even filed and you're handing out advice on AOS?
By all means, keep reading, keep asking questions, and keep offering moral support. But please stop handing out information as if you're an expert, or at least stop screwing with other peoples cases until you've gone through the process yourself and understand the nuances. Sorry (but not really) to come down like a ton of bricks on this, but people who hand out immigration advice because they're excited about the process and have digested tons of information so now consider themselves experts are the worst sort. Learn, read, and ask questions before you fancy yourself the expert.
