  1. What is the typical lawyer fees for filing a K-1 Visa. I was quoted over $3000 and that is not including any of the regular fees (application fee, work permit, etc...). I am a Canadian citizen looking to move to the USA to be with my fiance. The price seems steep just to fill out some papers and prepare us for the interview.

Also, once you are married there is a 2 year period that you must stay together in order to keep your residency, correct? During this 2 year period am I allowed to leave the USA at all (like on vacation)?

    thank you

My friend did it for me and she's a whiz. If you want her phone number let me know. i know she can help you fill out the information for a small fee. She did our paper work and not 1 mistake. Interview is in 3 weeks, yahoooo

  2. Hi everyone, Can someone tell me if I have to send any original documents with the Affidavit of support to my Fiancee? She is tell me I need originals for her to take to Kiev for her interview. Bank statements,IRS transcripts,W-2, divorce papers etc. I am worried to send these documents with my soc.number on them and bank account numbers. I have heard horror stories about identity theft and it takes years and lots of $$$ to get it all strightened out. My Fiancee told me she has talked to some girls on a Russian forum that have gone through the interview there in Kiev and they told her they need originals there. ( true or Fulse) If these papers would get into the wrong hands, they would have a field day with them! Thanks for your help!!! Jeff & Yulia

i would use DHL and have them picked up at one of there locations.

I think i know the answer to this question already, and i'm sure that there is almost no chance, but i thought it was worth asking anyway.

we got married in september 2006 and started the process of direct consular filing. as soon as we had all the documents assembled, we took them to the consulate, only to be told that the law had changed at the beginning of that week regarding payment and we could no longer file there. my husband had to go back to the usa for work anyway and started what he thought was the K3 process. due to some confusing legal advice, we realized four months later that we were applying for the IR1. this whole process has been so frustrating all along the way. when we got the DS3032 i thought we were close to the end, only to realize yesterday that we still have ages to wait and will probably miss our first anniversarry.

my husband can't come out to visit me for any decent length of time because he is working. i on the other hand do nothing but wait. is there any chance that i could get a holiday visa for a month or two to go over to the USA and visit him while i am waiting for my visa? i fully intend to come back to South Africa and finish the visa process here. if it is possible, what would i need to prove my intention to return? it feels like we have been waiting forever and the end seems so far away!

My wife asked and they took our $100.00 fee and said sorry No!!! In order to come here on a travel visa, we where told you cannot have anything in progress or any plans to immigrate. So if you have ANYTHING in progress IR1 CR1 k-3 they will assume you will not return, being your plannig to immigrate. Double check your status with the gov. IR1 and Cr1 is sometimes faster

Hello a few simple question for you.

Came over to USA ON K-1 visa?

Your married here in USA before 90 days?

Are you in the USA now?

  6. Found this

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...types_2991.html

After reviewing the submitted documentation, and the file is complete with all the required documents, the NVC will send the petition to the embassy or consulate where the applicant will apply for a visa when the case file is complete. For certain embassies/consulates, the NVC will schedule the applicant's interview.

Approximately one month before the applicant's scheduled interview appointment with a consular officer, all interested parties (applicant, petitioner, and third-party agent, if applicable) will receive an appointment letter containing the date and time of the applicant's visa interview along with instructions for obtaining a medical examination.

I better call and find out.

    thank you for your help

  7. My CR-1 case was completed a few weeks ago. I'm told the NVC schedule medical exams & interviews on the 2nd week of every month. I checked today and there still finishing up the scheduling process. Can anyone tell me how long they waited to get an interview in Keiv, Ukraine? I'm trying to find the avg wait time between case competetion and getting comfirmation of the interview.

Thanks and good luck to all

Is that true? Seems to contradict the Emabssy website...

    http://kiev.usembassy.gov/visa_iv_app_eng.html

    Yeah but i'm doing CR-1 not K-1 or K-3 I'm already married.

I understand that... firstly, K-1 and K-3 are NOT immigrant visas (though processed by the IV unit) ... and secondly, K-3 is a

    Spousal visa (ie.. married)....

If you look at the webpage, one set of instructions for fiance(e) (K-1) and the other set says for Immigrant visa...(CR1/IR1)?

Ok but I'm still a bit confused, not sure how the K-1 process works. But do they skip the NVC process? Because the bottom requested forms have already been submitted to NVC months ago. I'm thinking they sent all my info to the US embassy in Kyiv after they completed my case. Also on the website it states "If you have assembled all the documents necessary for your interview, please contact the Call-Center at 044-207-7071 to schedule it.The Immigrant Visa Unit no longer schedules interviews. " According to the info below the US Embassy is the Immigrant Visa Unit. So maybe nvc work directly with the Embassy, Maybe i should call them the NVC and ask if there is a diffrent process for CR-1

Send your forms to us by:e-mail to: kyivivREMOVE@REMOVEstate.gov

  10. My name is Natasha :D I'm waiting for my visa in Ukraine just want to find people with filing time close to mine to have an idea how i VSC doing

My wife Olha, is also waiting in Ukraine. I think we are about the same time line. (Maybe) Her ds230 form is going to be complete this week. I messed up a photo copy (go figure) so i had to resend them a copy. Anyway we start Nov of 2006. How far are you? I trying to figure out how long it takes from case completion at the NVC to getting an interview. I was told the NVC only book interviews the 2nd week of the month. If thats the case i think it will go like this.

2nd we of aug NVC makes in appointment

3-4 weeks waiting for medical exam and interview

    interview 2nd week sept

    1-2 weeks wait for visa

She will be here in Oct, about 1 year entire process. Let me know how you are?
