  1. You know what, there is another one here also from Las Vegas whose interview been cancelled. Mine is at 2:30 March 24 , yes, we better go there at least we can asked them the reason, it's difficult to get an infopass anyway.

mmm... I went online and made an appointment yesterday and there were appointments all the time and every day from now until the end of Feb. I recieved an email saying that my EAD card was ordered so i'm not stressed out anymore about the AOS. However, I will definately be going on the 24th and act like we never got a cancellation after all i've been hearing about these deportation letters for no shows!

Yes I will do that too, and guess what, I just got my EAD and AP today, thank goodness I can now look for jobs, I'm so bored at home now. Probably you can get yours within this week or early next week. Good Luck.

Great! Good luck with the job search! I'll PM you on the 24th (as my appointment is in the morning) to let you know if they send us back home! And maryandatif no worries we're definatly going to learn from your experience! Thanks for the support.

    Hi bichon82,

How's your interview? Please keep in touch.

    thanks,

  3. I'm also a Dec 07 filer, I received mails stating on Feb 5, my AP is approved and my EAD card production is ordered, but it was changed to Feb 8 for my EAD, and just today I received another mail stating the my interview was cancelled which was supposedly on March 24. I hope I will be just like most of the Dec 07 filers that are so lucky that they even received their EAD cards and AP but guess I'm not.

    Good Luck to your interviews.

  4. Hi,

This is a long shot, but I hope you guys are still active here at VJ. Can you tell me what happened to your cancelled interviews? I'm in the same boat as you were. Just received an email of interview cancellation today.

    thanks,

    babycakes

Ours was rescheduled about one year later.

My goodness, that's a long wait.

Yes, It was quite maddening. Our application took over two years altogether. Hope you don't have to wait as long.

Did you just wait for the reschedule or did you do some follow-ups on it? Pardon me for asking too much questions but you are the only one I meet here that has the same case as mine, which is still active in VJ. I really appreciate it.

  5. Hi,

Has anyone of you here had their interview cancelled? Our interview was supposedly scheduled on March 24, 2008 here in Las Vegas but I received today a mail that they cancelled it due to unforeseen circumstances and they will just inform us for a reschedule. I just hope it won't take long. Even the card production of my EAD has been changed too, from Feb 5 to Feb 8.

    thanks,

    babycakes

    Do you know why??

I so with they would do that with mine.

Here is the reason why: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=109919

    Hi,

I really can't think of any reason at all, my application went smoothly until now, no RFE's. All my papers were meticulously prepared. Anyways, we will still go to that cancelled interview if ever we don't receive any reschedule or even if there is a reschedule that is after the original date of interview just to make sure, because there are couples here that were really denied for not showing to the original interview date.

I wish you all the good luck.

  7. Hi,

Has anyone had the same experience I have now? I entered as a K-1 and got married last month. We went to the Social Security Office to file for my SS card 1 week ago and got my card yesterday with my married name on it already. We were so lucky because the lady staff there was so patient in looking for my name in their database because it was misspelled by the immigration when I made my entry here. But the lady there advised me to make an appointment with the INS and have the INS change my status and also advised them with the new name I'm going to use now. And after the INS will stamped my passport she wants me to go back to the SS office to show them my passport again.

My question is this, do I have to go the local INS before we filed our Change of Status? Or only after we filed the I-485 and have the acknowledgement receipt of it to show to the INS? The lady mentioned that I shouldn't wait for my K-1 visa to expire, I have to notify the local INS and have them stamped my passport (i don't know what exactly it looks like)) but she said something that it will show that I can still legally stay here after my K-1 expires which will be Dec 22, 2007. I even asked if this is different from filing the change of status 2 times and she said yes.

Will this create problems if I won't have the local INS correct my status and my name on their database if I go there after we filed the I-485. I am hesitant that they won't entertain me now since we have not filed the change of status yet and it is so difficult to make an infopass, the 1-800 number is useless. Please I need some help here. Thank you so much.

  8. Hi,

We also done our chatting on skype. You can print it directly from skype if you are using the older version. I encountered the same problem when I updated my skype version, so I kind of up having my first half of the chat logs printed directly from skype and the other half exported to a Word file. Anyways I ended up exporting all the chat logs in a Word file and that's what i presented during my interview and there was NO PROBLEM at all. Actually I'm already here in the US last Sept 23 and just got married. Good Luck.

    hi guys!

i'm a skype user and i use it to call my fiance in the US. i want to print all the call logs in my skype account.

i found two ways: 1. exporting the file to excel file. 2. print screen every page of the call logs account.

in exporting the file to excel file, i'm not sure if this a good proof that we are talking to each other since this is just an excel file and can easily be done by anybody. i mean, the consuls might suspect this as a fake proof or material.

and using print screen method is really tiring.

    any other suggestions?

    thanks,

    beng

  9. My mahal has to attend the CFO seminar next week and we have only 2 days to get it done. We were wondering if there is anyone here that has attended the seminar in Cebu recently. Our question is about how many people were there and how early did you get there. We were told by CFO there are only 15 positions a day. We don't want to take a chance on her not finishing the seminar before our departure next Thursday.

Thanks for any info you can give us! :)

    Hi,

I'm also from Cebu and I had my CFO last Sept 17, 2007, just got here in the USA last Sept 23. It's better for her to be there around 7 am, since it's a first come first serve basis, she need to write her name on a piece paper that's pasted on the door, that's the order for the one on one counseling that will be done in the afternoon, so the earlier she gets there, the better. By the way the seminar will be done not at the CFO office but at St. Mary's , opposite San Carlos Boys' High and then she will go to the CFO office near the DFA office for the sticker. There are docs not listed on the list of requirements. I brought with me 2 pictures (of me and my fiancee) as advised on the phone by the counselor but they only got one. Photocopies of my birth certificate, cenomar, passport & visa and also bring 2 ID's like SSS, TIN, driver's license because they sometimes asked for additional ID's as I observed with the other ladies there. She can finish all of these within a day, so don't worry too much. I misplaced the contact nos I had, that could be useful for her, but anyways she can find it in the telephone directory.

  10. Hello Everyone,

First of all, I would like to thank everyone here at VJ's for all the tips that you have posted. It really helped a lot. For those who are still waiting for their interviews, don't worry too much, the interview is quite simple and easy as long as your papers are all in order especially the Affidavit of Support and it's supporting docs. I wasn't even nervous since the pre-screener is so friendly, a matured lady with a good sense of humor. All the questions she asked were all asked by the consul too and only added 2 or 3 questions. The consul who interviewed me was an African-American with a nice professional attitude. These were the questions asked from me:

    What's your petitioner's name?

Where was he born and when?

Does he have any brothers and sisters?

    How long he lives there?

    Does he have any children?

    Was he married before?

    What's his job?

Does he lives alone in his house?

    How old is he?

    What's your age gap?

    What's my job?

What does my fiance likes to do?

I was a little worried after the 3 questions because the consul give me back the pictures that my fiance sent in his petition and in the middle of the interview he gave me all my papers. I thought at first i was denied but my consolation was that he didn't give me back my passport, so I become confident again. And he didn't tell me that my visa was approved. His parting words were "OK, I CAN'T THINK OF ANY OTHER QUESTIONS THAT I CAN ASK, PLEASE WAIT FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTION OUTSIDE FOR YOUR NEXT STEP." And I forgot to ask him if I'm approved or not. So I just asked one of the staff there what to do and he said you wait for your number for the releasing and I told myself , the consul already released my papers and he even gave me the pink slip together with the appointment paper. I think the standard way was for the releasing counter (#37) to release all the papers together with the pink slip and appointment paper and not the consul. Anyways, I already got my visa just a few minutes ago, so I now have the proof that I will be with my honey next week hopefully.

And for those who doesn't have their fiance with them during the interview, don't worry everything will be fine.

P.S. don't come to the embassy so early, it will only make you more tense and tired, stay at Bayview Park Hotel, so that while you are having your breakfast you can easily see the people in queue there, I was there at 6:30 and finished 11:00 am, but of course if you can come early like the other ladies there at around 4:00am, they finished almost 10:00am but I bet they were so nervous and hungry. :D

Good Luck to everyone who are still waiting for their turn. God Bless.

  11. Hi Larry! We finished our 2 days med. exam today and there's a note in SLEC that says they are open on AUgust 27 (monday). Your fiancee can have her medical exam on monday! I can assure u that since it was posted all over the SLEC. Visa fee is $100 each person, so your fiancee and her son will be $200.

Thanks you very much, how did your medical go?

was good.. We decided to go in around noontime, it went fast and smooth and we were done in 2.5 hours in our first day, i have my son too and the process for him was easy, they only look on his vital stats and physical check up and checked on his vaccine record to see what else he needed. I did print out sillygirl's Medical Procedure (can be found in Sheriff Uling's signature) and it went exactly as it was written. Make sure, your fiancee brought her son's vaccination record. and bring 4 pics each as i thought they only needed 3 (they do need 3 for me and 4 for my son).. And our 2nd day (today) went same time and finished in 2 hours. Just bring everything needed (passport, appointment letter, pics, vaccination record, pen) and everything will go smooth oh i would suggest to bring snacks too as my boy was hyper and cookies and juice made him stop screaming.

hi jj1028. just want to know the size of the pics. is it 2x2? or its a visa size pics? i dont have my packet yet and im planning to have an early medical, have my packet pick up in SLEC

2x2 size and US visa photos are alike.

yep 2x2 n US visa are the same, make sure the bckground is white/off white...

    Hi,

Bring 3 pics with you, they will ask another 2 pics from you together with your passport to be forwarded to the embassy, aside from the 1 pic to be attached to the SLEC form.

    good luck

  12. Hi dj1206,

That's great news! We also received our Packet 4 today as well. I think there are at least four to five of us from VJ with the same interview date. Best wishes to you and your SO!

Hi! Same medical and interview sched too! :)

Same here. Almost to the finish line!!!

    Good luck to everyone.

Hi, we have the same medical and interview but I will have my medical early Aug 13, I just called SLEC and they also recommend an early medical just in case something will go wrong.

    Good Luck.

  13. I got a smaller credit card of mine put in my fiancé's name. That works very well. I get monthly statements and it is only $5 for her to get money. It is working out well

My aunt is going back to Vietnam so I figured I would pass some money to her to give to my fiancé to help her out with bills, food and school. I just wanted to show financial support in helping her out. I know that giving cash is hard to provide. I also figured that there might be no way of showing proof when it comes to cash.

Giving someone money is NOT proof of a relationship.

I completely agree that giving someone money is not, in and of itself, proof of a relationship. I do wonder however, if demonstrating support of your fiance(e) would/could be one part of a total picture of an ongoing relationship. I have often wondered if this fact would be looked on favorably or unfavorably by the consulate officer (CO) during the visa interview.

On the possible favorable side, the petitioner is demonstrating their comittment to support the beneficiary (loosely analagous to the support demostrations that will be required later at the approval phase via I-134, etc).

On the possible unfavorable side, the consular officer may view this support in a negative light: ie that the beneficiary is somehow demonstrating a (financial) dependancy on the petitioner. Even if no such dependancy actually exists, could the Consular Officer latch on to a perception of one?

Folks, please...No Flames...Please read the whole post...It's an honest question regarding perception of the CO at the visa interview.

Nowhere here am I saying that one should or should not provide money or other financial support to their beneficiary. Everyone should do as their circumstances and heart dictate.

Nowhere here am I saying that demonstration of support during the pre-interview timeline is asked for or required by any rule, form, law or any other such governmental vehicle.

The question is what is your opinion regarding the disclosure of any financial support that you may have given in terms of its potential impact on the CO at the visa interview: Irrelevent?, Beneficial?, Negative?

    Thanks!

    Warm Regards,

    Samby

    Hi,

Although my interview is scheduled Sept 10, I would like to share the experience of my friend when she had her interview. Thankfully she was approved, but there was one lady there who was denied a K1 visa. According to her, one of the proof that the consul asked from her was the financial support and she can't show him any because the money was sent through her relative, there was no paper that will show the name of the sender and the recipient. so just to be safe, just sent it through a money transfer, the charge is reasonable. I don't think it can be taken as a financial dependancy on the petitioner unless it will involved a large sum of money. If they will ask just let your fiancee explain it to the CO it's for your fortcoming wedding and you need to buy things you need (like wedding dress, shoes etc.) in her country since it's much cheaper, because that's what we are doing now.

    cheers,

    babycakes

  14. Yes, indeed! Congrats Epiphany!:dancing: Good luck and best wishes. And, good luck to us all!

    Hi,

We have the same medical and interview appointment dates. Good Luck.

Where are you seeing the medical appointments?

St. Luke's, May I ask what place here in the Philippines does your fiancee originates? I'm from Cebu City by the way.

  15. Hi,

I'm from Cebu also. Although I still don't have my medical and interview schedule, I'm hoping it will be next month too. And I'm also planning to book at Cherry Blossoms. Can you be kind enough to give me their telephone numbers? I've heard that they have a decent and clean place but with a cheaper price. Thanks a lot.

    Sure BabyCakes.

Cherry Blossoms Hotel contact number(s): (632) 524-7631 to 36. You can also e-mail them. Their e-mail address is blossoms@i-manila.com. If you want them to pick you up from the airport going to the hotel, the charge is 600.00 pesos.

Good luck and may you have your medical and interview schedules soon!

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it. Godspeed.

  16. I am from Cebu too. My interview is on Aug 6. My fiance and I decided to have my medical earlier than scheduled, so I have to go to Manila twice, July for medical and Aug for my interview. However, I only have my father as a chaperon for fiance don't want me to go to Manila alone.

My father is a senior citizen and PAL gave us 20% discount (must show his senior citizen ID card) on his plane fares...20% on each flight. Fiance gave me the money and I bought our tickers here at the PAL office for it is a lot cheaper than doing it himself over the internet. All in all, on both my upcoming trips to Manila, fiance was able to save 50% than what we estimated based on the current price on the internet. On top of my father's 40% discount, we also enjoyed the early booking flight fares/prices.

We will be staying at the Cherry Blossoms Hotel per recommendation from friends. Room rate is 1950.00 pesos per day good for two (two beds in a room) and that includes breakfast. That's a saving also. Their room rate for single occupancy is 1300.00 or 1515.00 pesos per day. I did the reservation myself too. Internet prices is expensive.

My fiance is not coming with me for the interview. I am on my own. We decided to wait until I will have my visa on hand before purchasing a ticket for me and for himself. He will come to Cebu to pick me and we will fly back together to the US. And as for my ticket to US, we will purchase it here in Cebu, a lot cheaper.

We list everything I possibly gonna need and compute the expenses based on the current prices. Then fiance gave me the money. TRUST and HONESTY are very important and makes the expenses a lot less than doing everything online. And yet it is still very expensive.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck and God bless!

  17. I know it is tough on everyone just trying to get some answers from USCIS/NVC. I just hope all of you get your petitions forwarded to the embassy's, so that you can get your appointment dates.

    Good Luck to everyone!!!

    Hi Eddie & Mary,

You two are so lucky. We have the same approval date and we still don't have any packet received or appointment posted online. Good luck to your medical and interview Mary. We hope we can hear next week on our case.
