  1. Finished my interview and oath ceremony yesterday.

Nothing unexpected. Following civics questions were asked

    - Tax filing date

    - Longest river

    - War fought in 1900

    - President during World War 1

    - Current Vice President

    - Father of the nation

Now wife's interview is on Oct 30th. I asked two separate officers if she'll need my Naturalization certificate. They both said she'll not.

Will update here about her experience too.

Thanks everyone in this community for all your help.

You are both applying under 5 year rule I assume? With that, each applicant qualifies individually so your certificate should not be required for her naturalization. I would however double check this with the IO during your interview, since you have them right in front of you and don't need to go through the mis-information line :)

Thanks a lot. That is a good idea.

We just finished completing interview and oath ceremony similar to your case in Newark.  Spouse was in Sep 15 and mine was in Sep 16. I did not require her Naturalization Certificate during my interview next day. IO did ask about her status during interview I just responded she became a citizen previous day.

Just to summarize recent experience in Newark

Whole process took about 4-5 hours -- For us Oath ceremony completed in the same day, but IO did suggest sometimes it gets carried forward if there is a hold up

Seating area is sufficiently spaced and everyone wears masks, for anyone with Covid concerns

Civics interview was as expected, all questions coming from the booklet

IO did not ask for any documents in my case

I did mention about traffic offenses, but IO said that is ok and did not ask for any details

    For my spouse,

they did ask her EAD which she did not have, but IO was ok with it. Not sure what triggered , probably they wanted to confirm she wasn't employed as mentioned in the application

Tax returns for 4 years helped

Thanks a lot for detailed notes. This helps.

My wife was scheduled for the 12th of April and she is yet to receive a new date. I think they are rescheduling based on dates filed rather than interview dates. Another user here was an August filer and was originally scheduled for the 17th of April and has already received the new date. My wife was a September filer so I am guessing she will be scheduled for sometime this October or maybe early November considering the timelines I have noticed up to now.

Thanks. She is August filer. Lets see how soon it'll come.

Congratulations! My wife was scheduled to be interviewed in Newark on the 12th of April, but we are yet to be rescheduled, so I'm guessing you were among the lucky ones. Good luck!!

Thanks. I know someone else on the forum also had interview date in March but still not rescheduled. I hope it happens soon. My wife's date was April 22nd so hoping that it gets rescheduled soon too.

Had my interview scheduled in Newark, NJ on April 15th, but this was canceled. No word yet on when I can come in now.

Any other August 2019 filers in the same boat?

Mine was scheduled on April 16th. No word yet on rescheduling. I am not even sure if they have started rescheduling any of the original April interview dates.
