The folks in this thread might know --
In Brazil, yes an appointment is needed to pick up the passport/visa at the consulate. Some people have it shipped directly to their home instead though.

Quick update: just got the package today. Exactly 30 days after the interview in Rio.
Congrats, looks like our process is going to last 60 days!
Keep us posted on how everything goes.

Finally got the tracking number today. Overall, a little bit over a month from the interview until I actually get the passport (which should arrive by Tuesday next week).
Did you get expedited delivery or is it arriving at your local consulate?

Sadly I’m back in the boat with those that are waiting. My fiancée opened the packet that says not to open. Don’t do that. The consulate isn’t very friendly about it so I’m stuck in Brazil while we wait for them to reseal the packet and send it back. They refuse to give any information about the process beyond instructing us not to make arrangements to go to the United States.
Wow sorry to hear that! Keep us posted and hope they can process it quickly for you.
They wrote back to us and told us it may be up to 60 days after the interview and all supporting documents are provided before they issue the visa.

29 days. Don't necessarily take that as typical if you're still waiting. Others in this thread have had it come much faster. We were initially REFUSED while they were 'waiting' for the medical.
Been 33 days since our interview. Still waiting. I'm guessing things slow down during the holidays.

I wonder who we pissed off in Rio. We had not yet received a tracking number a week after going ISSUED on CEAC so I sent them an e-mail last night inquiring whether or not the visa had been sent. They sent my fiancee an e-mail this morning with no words - just what appears to be a tracking number (but no link). It looks like a number for Correios, but of course nothing shows up yet when I put it into their tracking site.
How long did it take for it to show as issued on CEAC?

When you schedule your interview, you select the delivery method. I believe you can pick it up at the Consulate in Rio, have it delivered to your home or pick it up at one of the ASC (Applicant Service Centers). We chose to pick ours up at the ASC in Sao Paulo.
Yes i was just curious if some methods are faster. One of our friends stayed in rio for another 6 weeks after her interview before she was able to pick it up.

Congratulations! Our interview was a little over 4 weeks ago, hopefully ours will be issued soon.
Are they delivering your visa to you or do you need to go pick it up from a consulate?

Hello again! I just saw this today, and I thought I would share the info here since I know a lot of you have schedule the medical exam or are waiting to do so like me.
Effective today (October 1st) the CDC will require K1 visa applicants to receive a full COVID-19 vaccine as part of their medical exam, prior to being issued the visa. All the vaccines offered in Brazil (Coronavac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Janssen) make the criteria of being approved through the WHO.
Here is the source with more info: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/changes-to-vaccination-requirements-for-immigrant-visa-applicants.html
Yes they also send this information when scheduling the medical exam. We finally heard back from the doctor in Rio three weeks after first requesting a date for the medical appointment.

We called the doctor in Sao Paulo to schedule the medical exams, they said that we needed to send an email. I thought the wait might be long like Rio, but they emailed back in less than an hour with an exam date of Sept 30. We then changed our interview date to October 8.
That's great. I'm not sure what the issue is with the doctor in Rio, but it's definitely hard to get any kind of feedback via email. We've emailed 3 times starting 10 days ago and have heard nothing back at all.

No, not yet. It's at NVC.
Oh I see. Yes you can use the application ID "RDJ........." number to look up the case on https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx page. I don't know what other type of number you would need.
You could start getting all the information for your DS160 now if you wanted.

I'm very happy to see progress in this group after so long!
Since, you are all ahead, I was wondering if someone can clarify a couple things for me. My application was approved and is currently at NVC. 1 - Do I need to get an invoice number from them ? (and if yes, what is it for?). 2 - Do we wait for the application to be send to the consulate before completing the DS-160 form?
Did you get an email from nvc with the following subject line yet?
The National Visa Center sent your K1 visa petition to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

Thank you for the information. You already scheduled your interview and now you are waiting to schedule your medical exams?
That's correct. Our interview is in late November so we're trying to get an appointment the week before.

We also received the Packet 3 email today. Near the top of the email it states that you can send the medical exams after the interview, but near the bottom it says you have to complete the exams prior to the interview?
What city are you scheduling your exams?
In Rio. One of our friends had her medical exam 1 week after the interview.

Well Confirmation came in today after repeated emails. We have to reschedule interview to November as soonest doctor examination appointment is in November. So one trip to Rio for both.
Did you already make your doctor appointment? We're still waiting for them to write back. We reached someone on the phone but they said appointments could only be made via email.

Don't know if this is correct or not, but what others is telling me is that once status changes to Ready you can go ahead and schedule your interview. The consulate used to schedule the interview and contact you but that's no longer the case. Again don't know if this is right or not, this is what I've read from others going through the process.
We received an email with all the details.
Is anyone else scheduling their medical exam in rio? It's difficult to get prompt feedback from the doctor there.

email from the NVC will be "NVC-do-not-reply", I am not sure about the consulate.
The subject line we got was "The National Visa Center sent your K1 visa petition to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil"

I'm thinking the second email they've sent us may be what used to be in a physical packet. It seems to have a lot of the same questions and we can schedule the interview now.
As an update, there was no physical packet sent. We are able to schedule our interview online and the consulate will bring up the info when the interview is conducted so there is no need to bring the duplicate information.

Oh no, we haven't received the physical packet yet. I'll provide an update once we do.
Our lawyer also received the notification to confirm that everything in our original submission is still accurate.
Did the consulate say anything about your package and why it is delayed? I've seen other couples who have gotten interviews and had NOA2 after yours.
Will send an update soon.
Still didn't receive a physical packet but received another email from the consulate about completing the DS-160 and scheduling an interview.
Will update this once again if we get the packet soon.

But like, I'm not talking about the notification saying that the visa was sent to the consulate. I'm talking about the actual letter from the consulate to the beneficiary with instructions for the interview and the good to go for the beneficiary to schedule their interview. Without getting it you're not supposed to schedule the interview. And also the Packet 3. My NOA2 is from september 2020 and I still haven't gotten it.
