  • Our Story
US Citizen (husband) and SA spouse (wife) met in Hanoi, Vietnam. Traveled SE Asia for a year and a half, then returned to SA to meet the family and get married. We began our process shortly after that. So far so good!

  1. Update! Had my medical yesterday with the Cape Town physician. Was super simple and took about 2.5 hours altogether (including x-rays) Now the (hopefully short) wait for my interview date.
  2. Nice! Good luck for Wednesday I hope I get my interview that soon as well. You're flying to JHB from Cape Town could you let me know what permit you got for travel and how your flight was?
  3. Don't be nervous I'm positive it's good news for you guys in Germany. I'm sure in a few days you'll receive good news and things will move forward for you. Good luck and hope you get your good news soon!
  4. My case is expedited so it's difficult to say with 100% accuracy that this is for CR1/IR1 cases in your country whether expedited or not. I have seen others that were not expedited get this email and they have had the same process as me who is expedited. I can only thinks the consulates and embassies are pushing the spouse visas through now but doing things a bit differently. Like here we have been requested to have our medical results before we can schedule out interview. Normally we are given an interview date and then we schedule a medical. Life is backwards but interviews are happening 🤗
  5. This means you'll be scheduling your interviews with the embassy directly. My case is expedited and I received the same email shortly after receiving my expedite approval notice. This is good news for you all promise! You should receive another email from NVC stating that your case is being sent to the embassy and from there you'll hear about scheduling your interview from the embassy. Your case status on CEAC will change to "In Transit" and a few days after it will change to "Ready". This when the embassy should start contacting you about scheduling.
  6. Medical is schedule for Monday morning, once I have the results I can schedule my interview. They may be doing expedites first, but not sure on that. Anyone else get a request to book medical and interview? Will let you guys know how the medical goes - it's Cape Town doctor, but the Consulate did the option of both JHB and CPT. They look to be doing interview scheduling once you have everything together including your medical results.
  7. Too add to the good news - South Africa is starting to schedule CR1/IR1 now. Looks like they are doing expedites first, but its one more country opening up
  8. Anyone else receive an email from the Consulate regarding scheduling an interview - we have progress it seems 🥰
  9. There's lots available from now till August and more will come up as well. Thankfully SAA isn't the only option
  10. I'd think it's due to the whole bailout debacle with SAA at the moment.
  11. SAA isn't doing many it seems here's the latest ones on the consulates website with other airlines. There's lots going at the moment and they've been consistent throughout lockdown. These are normal commercial flight routes as well but they're being used for repatriation only at the moment. I've seen a few for Turkey as well https://za.usembassy.gov/health-alert-upcoming-repatriation-flights-u-s-embassy-pretoria-south-africa-july-21-2020/
  12. June numbers - visas issued by post, is up. Looks like nearly every country has been processing IR1/CR1 visas since being declared mission critical https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-statistics/immigrant-visa-statistics/monthly-immigrant-visa-issuances.html WI be great to see what July numbers are like
  13. Visas issued by post - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-statistics/immigrant-visa-statistics/monthly-immigrant-visa-issuances.html June stats have been released and everywhere is doing CR1/IR1 visas except JHB. This includes Brazil and India who's numbers are way above ours. @April M Kenya has processed CR1/IR1 visas in June (Nairobi) maybe worth enquiring again on your case. If I understand correctly you're in Kenya?
  14. Yes both are open there probably will be a backlog though. Home affairs was shut down for about 2 - 3 months and police clearance about 3 - 4 months. When I did my PCC late last year it took about 2 months total. Wasn't bad at all but I'd expect there's a backlog now. Didn't use an agency, was a pretty smooth process. Birth certificate was about the same amount of time, did it earlier this year, but I used an agency to get it done faster.- Doc Assist
  15. You're most welcome @mimi206 I'll definitely let you know if hear about an interview date please let me know your side as well. I think our interview date might be the same as well 😉
