  1. US Domicile will probably be questioned. That's what happened to me during my interview. My husband was deployed in the middle east at that time and the consul wanted more evidence that he would be coming back or had returned to the US. Even I showed them his employment certificate that he's working in the US Airforce and US driver's license, these weren't enough to prove his US domicile. When he came back to the US, he asked his supervisor to write a letter that he returned to his home station and started working there again.

My husband just completed his medical at SLEC today. He was walk in no appointment. Arrived at 8am and registered there inStead of online. He got his medical report release by 2pm.

SLEC website has been down for days now.  I cannot register online. When you say medical report, is this the same to the sealed envelope that will be hand carried to the interview?

If nothing has changed with the process at SLEC (during this beer virus) then a sealed envelope with the medical file will be released at the completion of the medical.

Two days between the completion of the medical and the interview is just fine.  Many have done this ...  before the beer virus.

Thanks for the response. Hoping and praying for the success of our daughter's medical and interview.

  4. Hello everyone. Is it a alright to schedule a medical at SLEC 2 days before the interview date? Applicant is from the province and will need to be home quarantined for 14 days after travelling to Manila. Will SLEC release the medical result (sealed envelop) same day of medical completion or it will be sent directly to the USEM? Thank you.

Bayview is a good fall back option.  I just checked Agoda and for Sept 9-11, City Garden has rooms.  Not sure your planned days but they have something then.

Yeah. I see it now. I placed 3 adults and 1 child as the number of guests before that's why City Garden is not appearing in the hotel list. I changed it now to 2 adults. Thanks again.

Youll be fine.  Usually the "social distancing" in a vehicle is half the normal passengers, but this is what they are using on buses, UV Express, etc.  I would bring a copy of your medical appointment as if there are any checkpoints, that copy will be your pass to continue to Manila.  As long as Manila stays at GCQ (including areas such as Bulacan, Rizal, etc) then you will have no issues getting there.  Just check CNN Philippines, Philstar, or GMA on the 31st.  Usually its quite late local time when they announce the new lockdown rules.

    Thank you for your tips...

I have heard to plan for two days, but we just did the medical for the K1 this past Monday and they did everything in one day.  We were done by 3pm.  They may be trying to get everything done in one day now as you need to book online and it only allows you to book for one day.  I have a feeling the 2 days were when they were still doing walk-ins.

Look on Agoda after September 1st for hotels.  They have a full refund guarantee up until the day before check-in.  There are a few more hotels in the area and you can even write to the hotel and ask if they are just doing temperature checks.  Most hotels dont require a COVID test, it appears most condos do as there are more locals living in the condos so it would make sense.

I might book them a room in Bayview Park Hotel. Hopefully my daughter's medical will go smoothly to avoid going back and forth in metro manila.

I was going to add, from Isabela they were having vans running from that area to Manila (practicing social distancing) so only about half full, but prices are higher.  Also, there may be buses but not sure on that.  Vans definitely were running a few weeks ago.  Your fiance should know where the vans stop when passing through that area and she should go there a few days before and ask.  Also, you may want to consider coming down 2 nights early or arriving in the morning of the day before the medical.  This will provide a buffer for any hiccups along the way.

Right. They will be using my mother-in-law's private car so they have no problem with social distancing. I'm not sure if how may person is allowed in a SUV type of vehicle.

The government is announcing new lockdown levels every 2 weeks.  The next announcement will be late on August 31st or September 1st.  Wait until then to book a place for the medical.  If Manila increases back to MGCQ or MECQ, SLEC will close.  If GCQ stays past September 1st, then book your place to stay.

Avoid Airbnb places for now.  Many condos are requiring a COVID test which makes it impractical to stay there.  We booked this past week at City Garden Suites which is right around the corner from SLEC.  Just stay there.  They take your temperature upon entering and thats it.  Breakfast is delivered to your room.  Literally a 2 minute walk for the medical.  Rooms are fine for a night or two.

You may need to hire a private car to take you from the province to Manila and then drive back to the province.  Grab is running throughout Manila as well as taxis.

Just wait until after September 1st to book.

Thanks for the heads up. Will be waiting for the announcement for booking for a hotel. Tried checking City Garden Suites, but it's already fully booked for our schedule. Do you have any idea how many days will it take for an IR2 medical to be completed?

  10. Hello. My 3-year old daughter will be having her medical at SLEC this coming Sept 10. She will be accompanied by my mother-in-law with a private car. They are from Isabela (region 2). Anyone here has recently traveled to Manila from province via land? Can you share your experience? Did you encounter any checkpoints along the way while passing from town to town? Do they need to be quarantined after coming from Manila? What was your experience with staying in a hotel? Are they requiring CoVID test? Thank you so much.

@flicks1998 can my daughter have her medical without interview letter?

We are at the same stage too. My daughter's case got expedited and received the same email. We're wondering too what's the next step to take? I've read in other forums that SLEC can perform medical by just showing them the NVC expedite letter and they will just let the applicant sign a waiver. But I'm not 100% sure. I'm only basing it on what I've read.

If the NVC isn't requesting it you might be fine.  You should be able to request it online if you want it.

When a third country national interviews in that third country, you can expect to meet the requirements for both Manila and the interviewing consulate.  We were DCF so we skipped NVC altogether, but brought the ROM to the interview along with Mary's NBI.

I guess I'll just request one just in case they'll ask. Don't want to regret not getting one in the end.  Thanks for your help.

We were not married in the middle east but if you are married in the Philippines you need to CEMAR/CENOMAR.  If you are a FiIipino married elsewhere then they ask for a Report of Marriage in addition to the Marriage Certificate.  We had our Report of Marriage and they glanced at it in Juarez and returned it.

Hi. Thanks for the response. We got married in the Philippines. We have already the PSA marriage certificate. Apparently, there is another type of form from NSO called CEMAR/CENOMAR which shows any recorded marriages under the applicant's name. This form is required in USEM manila as per the pre-interview checklist posted online. I was wondering if the said form is required as well in USEM in the middle east.

  14. Hello there. Any CR1/IR1 Filipino filers who had their interview in the Middle East here in VJ? I just want to ask if during the consular interview did the consular officer ask for your CENOMAR? I've read in USEM Manila pre-interview checklist they require CENOMAR  for those married whose petitioner was born and lived at least 1 year in the Philippines.

My fiance (beneficiary) is from Russia and has an apartment there. For the last few years she's been working in China and is there at present. Currently, her situation is fluid - she might not get her Chinese work visa renewed (then she'll have to go back to Russia), otherwise she will be moving to a cheaper apartment in China. So at this point it's hard to say where she will be in a month.

I want to file I-129F soon, and my question is - how critical the correctness of her physical address on the application would be? I will be putting her address in Russia as mailing address, her current address in China as physical address, and the desired consulate - in Russia. If her physical address changes, how do I update USCIS with it after filing I-129F and will it somehow delay the proceedings?

In our daughter's case, during filing of I-130,  we wrote Qatar as the desired consulate and Philippines as her physical and mailing address. When we received the NVC welcome letter, they mentioned there that her interview will be in the Philippines. So, I think they will base the interview location based on the beneficiary's current physical address. I'm not entirely sure with this. I'm only basing it on my daughter's case (IR2).  Since you are still on USCIS filing stage, don't worry about this as consular interview will be processed at the NVC stage. I'd say continue with Russia as the desired consulate. When you reach the NVC stage and fiance is still in China, inform RIGHT AWAY the NVC via call or email about transfer of consulate. But I've read in one fb visa page, the process of changing embassies might take 30 days.

    Hi,

I got recently approved by uscis, the case status is just ‘case approved’, do they update to ‘sent to dep of state’ once is really sent to nvc
How long usually is the wait of receive the welcome letter ?

does any of you used the shortcut to call nvc to receive earlier code for caec?

    Thanks

Did you file online or via mail? From what I've read in different visa groups, if online you'll receive your welcome letter (via email), within a week. In our case, since we filed via mail, we waited 21 days before our case status was changed from approved to sent to department state, and then after 14 days we received email from NVC (welcome letter) containing our case number and invoice number. We didn't call NVC  since we thought that it will be counterproductive on their part given the current situation. We just waited patiently.

Assuming he earns above the required threshold for the household size, the tax transcripts are enough.

His 2019 income in his tax transcript is a little bit short of the required threshold.  But if we will write his annual income based on his predicted 2020 earnings, which we computed amateurly, it will pass the income requirement. He's only new in the military. And we don't want to take any risk of getting RFE and delaying our cases. That's why we included bank statements just in case.

  18. Good day everyone. Our cases (IR1 and IR2) are now sent to NVC. We know that it can take up to weeks to receive the case numbers. While waiting, we would like to prepare the supporting documents that we will be needing to upload in addition to the I-864 form. My husband (petitioner) is an active duty USAF. These are the documents that we are going to upload. What do you think guys?  Are we missing something?  Do we need to add other documents? Thank you for your input.

IRS tax transcript 2019 (most recent)
     W-2 Form 2019
Pay stubs or Leave and Earnings Statement (last 6 months)
☐ Bank statements (last 6 months)
☐ Letter of employment  (Example: "NAME and RANK  has been a full-time employee of the United States Army since 2019 and is in good standing with an annual income of "$$$$" - Signed[immediate Supervisor]")
      Proof of Military Active Duty

If the daughter is born to a USC doesn't she qualify as a citizen already?  Why would she need to interview or am I missing something?

A person born abroad in wedlock to a U.S. citizen and an alien acquires U.S. citizenship at birth if the U.S. citizen parent has been physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions prior to the person’s birth for the period required by the statute in effect when the person was born (INA 301(g), formerly INA 301(a)(7)).

Our daughter was born when my husband was not yet a USC. That's why she is not eligible for a CRBA.

  20. Hi guys. I hope everyone is doing well. Our IR1/IR2 petitions were recently approved (USCIS stage). My husband (USC) filed petitions for me and our biological daughter who is almost three years old now. The problem is that I am currently residing and working in Qatar and our daughter is in the Philippines. I understand that there will be different interviews for the both of us. But, will the embassy schedule the interviews based on our current locations? Or will they schedule the interviews at the same day and same location? I was wondering if someone had been in the same situation before and what was the arrangement made by the embassy. Anyone's input is highly appreciated.  Thank you.
