I know what you mean. Our interview is Nov 1st. However, be confident and positive. Everything will work out just fine.

Good luck to all who have an interview coming up this week.
Do stop back and let us know your experience and how it went.
Our's is next week.

Same here we got Packet 4 ...
Did you fill out DS230 Part 1 and 2? Also did you fill out DS156k? They are not listed in the Packet 4 but VFS guy asked for them anyway....
-
Hey all, I guess they don't do the Packet 3 anymore, cause I did not receive it. I only received Packet 4. Can anybody confirm?
-
Glad you submitted the paperwork to the VHS office.
We did K1 and they only asked for DS-230 Part 1 not part 2 (I think Part 2 is only for married couples). Anyway we submitted both Part 1 and 2 just to be safe, and they accepted them both. I would suggest filling it out and bringing it with you to the interview just in case. Better safe than sorry!
Try to get the Local area police report, I have heard of visas being held up until that is submitted. (Also heard of people not submitting it and still getting visas - again, it depends on the IO you get and the office, so better safe than sorry!)
In several places I read that DS156K is specifically for men not women. For women, The DS156 is enough (men submit that too). I have heard of women filling that out and submitting it too anyway, just to be on the safe side. It is a very small half-page form basically just requiring a signature. It is probably not required for you guys but again, if you have a few minutes to print it up online and fill it out, that is an option.
Hey ELW, Thank You Thank You Thank You. You are always so helpful and always try to help out. I really appreciate it. Thanks again.

Hey all, as per your advise I submitted some of the paper work. I went to the Nehru place VFS office in Delhi today to submit some docs.
I submitted the following:
-Photocopy of Passport
-Photos
-Birth Certificate (Original & 1 Copy)
-Marriage Certificate (Original & 1 Copy)
-Proof of Relationship (I submitted the wedding card and a couple of emails. I figured I will bring most of the evidence at the interview)
-Police Report from Her Local Passport Office
-DS156
-Medical Report
I did not have the following:
-DS230 Part I & II
-Local Area Police Report
-DS156K
-Affidavit of Support (I thought I would just submit this at the interview with up to date infomation)
Here is the problem. Do I have to submit DS230? Because my packet 4 doesn't even list that as a requirement. I never had my wife get the Local Are Police Report, I didn't know we needed it. We did get the report from her local Passport office, I thought that was all which was needed. DS156k? We submitted DS156, what the heck is the one with the K, and what is the difference. Again Packet 4 only lists DS156 as a requirement and does not list DS156K.
If your wife's passport was issued within the last six months, you only need to get the police certificate from the local passport office.

Yeah I saw that, however her passport was issued in 2004. Thanks for trying

Ok, thanks guys. You probably saved me from making a big mistake. I will get together all the papers based on the Packet 4 they gave me and submit it all. The only thing I don't have ready is the Affidavit of support, I will submit everything besides that.
Thanks,
Jas

Yes it is confusing but I would go with the written instructions that the Consulate sends directly to the applicant, in Packet 4 (10-15 working days).
thanks elw!!!
god bless u
I thought that it's best just not to submit anything...and I am going to bring everything to the interview instead. The only thing I am doing before the interview is submiting the courier fee.

Hey Everyone,a little update from me:
Medical part 2 passed today!
Packet 3 sent back to the Embassy.
Now waiting for the appointment letter to get my interview date.
Good luck !
-
Congrats Jas S, great the medical appointment is set up. Looks like it is smooth sailing for you two!
Thank you, not only was it setup, it has finished.
We went yesterday morning and got it done. Since she is pregnant, she only needed to get the general checkup and blood test. We get to pickup the reports tomorrow. Now I am just trying to figure out, how I can get my Affidavit of support notarized in India? hmm....

U.S.Embassy Adjusts Consular Exchange Rate
October 12, 2007
Effective Monday October 15, 2007 the United States consular sections in India will adjust the consular exchange rate from Rs 42/- to the dollar to Rs 40/- to the dollar, thereby decreasing all rupee denominated costs of applying for visas and passports at the US Embassy and Consulates General.
Effective October 15, the payment of the $100.00 visa application fee at any of the designated branches of the HDFC Bank will require payment of Rs. 4000/-. Receipts issued by HDFC Bank prior to October 15, that reflect a payment of Rs. 4,200/- will still be honored and there will be no need for a supplemental payment.
******
The fees payable at HDFC Bank per passport are: -
1. Visa Application Fee (MRV Fee): $100 in Indian Rupee equivalent at consular rate of exchange. Rupee amount at current rate of exchange (Rs. 40/-) is Rs 4,000/-
This fee is payable in cash or by DD/HDFC Bank cheque favouring “US Embassy - Visa Fees”. DDs issued by cooperative banks are not accepted.
2. Service Charge: Rs.322/- which includes VFS’ service charge Rs310/- & Bank service charge Rs12/- (inclusive of Service Tax @ 12% and Education Cess Tax @0.36%)
This fee is payable in cash or by DD/HDFC Bank cheque favouring “HDFC Bank a/c VFS”. DDs issued by cooperative banks are not accepted.
Thank you

What forms of payment do they accept in Delhi Embassy? Do they accept cash, draft or something else?
-
Hi all, thanks again for all your help. Here is the update:
I had emailed the consulate last week, so they replied back today saying that our interview is set for Nov 1st and if I hadn't received a letter in the mail yet, I can go between 4pm-5pm to Line #1 and get a duplicate of that letter if needed. Also I called up the medical facility where need to get our medical done, and they gave us the ok based us bringing in something which shows my wife's name, case # and the type of Visa it is. I am just going to take the letter that I had gotten from NVC showing all that info. for when they sent out a letter stating that our info. is going to be forwarded over to the Delhi Embassy.
So now we have a medical appointment tomorrow morning at 9:30am.
-
Jas I just want to remind you that if you do get your I-134 notaried in India..make sure it is before a U.S consular or immigration officer. This is stated clearly in the first column of the I-134 instructions. Please read it carefuly..as you don't want something small to be an issue for you. good luck.
Hmm any ideas on how and where to get that done? Where can I go in Delhi or Gurgaon to do that? Thanks Neel

how to check November interview list for Delhi?
The link I have only shows Oct dates:
New Delhi has been posting the interview dates very late recently. They posted the September interview dates on August 31 and the October interview dates on October 1. So according to this trend, they won't be posting November interview dates until about October 31 or November 1.
Ouch that sucks. That is a problem for me, because they gave me a verbal go ahead to get my wife's medical done and scheduled us for a Nov. 1st date. However, I have not received an official letter in mail yet and I heard you need something on paper showing that you have a set interview date in order to get your medical done. That is why I want to see the date schedule so I can print it and get my wife's medical done.
Does anyone know for sure if at the hospital they ask to see a letter with the date on it?
Also for Delhi, do you know which medical facility out of the ones we have to choose from have the best turn around time and most efficent?

I am in India visiting my wife and helping her with the interview. I did not get any stamps done in States...did I need to?
Didn't you notarize the Affidavit of Support? If not, you can get it done in India.
What to send to your Spouse once the I-129F is approved (NOA2):
2. I-134 / I-864 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is notarized (by a public notary), with all required supporting evidence. Some consulates may require one or the other forms. You will need to verify with the consulate which they require. You can call or email the consulate to check ahead of time. Additionally, the consulate will notify your fiance(e) via mail correspondence which they prefer.
Thanks

How is everyone doing? Any progress? Good luck to everyone, I have a feeling this will be a good week for you all.

Thanks for your support Kalina and everyone.

Congrats!!!

Thanks all.... Good luck to you all also. I am glad this all worked out, because our doctor said that it's only safe for my wife to travel uptill Nov 10th, and she does not recommend traveling after that. So a Nov 1st date is perfect.

congrats JAS. happy for you. my husband's interview is on NOV 6th... good luck to both of us.
Thank you. I am glad our journey is nearing it's end...
Good luck to the both of us for the interview in Nov. So how is the prep coming along?

Hello!
The VFS office will not let you pay the $100 draft.
It is only given at the Consulate on the day of the interview.
When submitting the documents at the VFS office, what you have to pay is the Rs 365/-- courier fee.
Hey the 365, can this be paid in Cash? Or what forms of payments do they accept?
