Thanks for sharing that! I would also suggest IATA’s website is good for checking for open boarders.

One thing to keep in mind is always looking at the date published or updated. It took a few days before IATA’s website updated their language to match Croatia’s new “open to tourism” allowance and some of the older Coronavirus Travel Restirctions by Country articles contain 2-month-old restrictions that have vastly changed for better or worse.

We are entering my second week in croatia. Croatian police are fine with a paid tourist booking or proof of Croatian property, pay close attention to the Connecting flight’s country’s restrictions. Ours were in Frankfurt but before we could check-in in Spain, our airline Lufthansa, was extremely hesitant and critical before issuing our checkin and boarding pass. Bring proof and emails from embassies and boarder police clarifying what is allowed. For more see our post here.

The trouble is Turkish airlines have cancelled on us with the possibility of flights restarting on July 1. Serbia Air is running from Belgrade to JFK but has cancelled all ZAG, Croatia to BEG, Serbia flights until July 1. Check your flight search engine around that time, and watch Turkish, Serbian, and Croatian news for hints of trouble or new updates. RIght now we are looking at the option to drive across because Serbian boarders are open. See IATA’s website and Serbia’s official police website.

thank you for your response, that really helped. By the time I’ll be able to fly from Croatia it’ll be the first week of July anyway so hopefully that will be ok, i won’t have the choice to drive so i’ll be going hoping turkish airlines start around that time. fingers crossed!

Hi everyone! I'm very late to the party but just like most of you I'm waiting for the European travel ban to be lifted and in the meantime considering traveling to Cancún. As a girl alone I don't feel very safe doing that, so if there is anyone considering going to Cancún on the 18th of June and wanting to travel together, please let me know!

Hey, this is one of my concerns to! where in europe are you travelling from?

Indeed that's super weird! I tried to follow your link and when filtering by route, 0 flight found either from AMS to MEX.

Is it because you are on klm.co.uk or would the website region be irrelevant in this case? I understand your confusion

maybe it’s an IT error because i don’t see how a region difference should change a flight schedule. Super weird bc on mine it’s showing no flights the whole month of June so i can’t book anything

Maybe these are considered to be repatriation flights but for now, the flight status checker includes a couple of flights from Amsterdam to Mexico City from beginning of June.

that’s so weird i just checked that date on my phone and it’s saying no flights. This is confusing. https://www.klm.co.uk/flight-status/flight-list?date=20200606

I booked my flights with Air France and KLM for beginning of June. I know seing the flights online does not mean they are available or we are able to take them (e.g. flights from Croatia to Mexico City via Istanbul) but I am confused, did they tell you flights to Mexico from June onwards are cancelled?

I believe many of us have flights booked as of beginning of June.

i contacted them in regards to flights early june to begin with and they said about using the flight status checker and it shows there are no flights from Amsterdam to Mexico City the whole month on June. i’ve just double checked this and it’s still the same on the KLM website.

They said it’s cargo flights and repatriation flights mainly that’ll be flying.

  6. Hi everyone i’m from the u.k. and could really do with some advice, it’s really helped reading your stories, so my story is kind of different. My loved one is a US citizen in Idaho, I really need to get there to visit him and his family, I haven’t seen him for a very long time, so i’ll be travelling on the ESTA route and staying for 3 months with him. I’m contemplating travelling to Mexico for for 14 days then heading to the US. Does anyone know if this will be ok with the being the ESTA route? on the border protection website it states that if i can prove i haven’t been in a restricted country for 14 days i should be ok. Does anyone know if airlines flying to Mexico from the u.k. or where layovers can be.  I’d just like advice if you’ve already done it or are planning to. My heart breaks every day being away from them all, thank you in advance.
