  1. Abdul Rahman arrived on February 25th through JFK and received a 90 work stamp in his passport with no problems. We applied for his SSN on March 3rd and are still waiting. Anyone know how long that takes? I am so fliiping happy and just cannot believe he is really here. Wow! What a horrible time we have all had. What obstacles we have overcome and what emotional turmoil. Kudos to everyone for their patience and neverending faith in good things. Congrats to us all!

    ...i just love him :star:

  2. My fiance passed his interview!

 The embassy officer took his passoprt and told him to return on Valentine's Day to get his VISA! WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

They asked him many questions and I will find out more details in the next few days. He said they asked him what kind of wedding he wants...big or small? He said that he did not care. They then asked him what kind of wedding I want...big or small and he said, "Of course she wants a big wedding!" Hahahaha...so true

I am so thankful and happy!

  3. Wonderful...thank you!

P.S. He passed his interview  , they took his passoprt and told him to return on Valentine's Day to get his VISA! WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    Hello there.

My fiance has his interview in a few hours OH MY GOD! Okay and I wondering for those who have been approved and traveled to the US recently through JFK:

Did they ask for a work permit stamp?

    Did they get it?

Since my fiance will be tranferring to Seattle from JFK...how long did the process take in NY immigration?

I do not want him to miss his connecting flight and be stuck in NY overnight or anything.

    Thank you!

    Crissy

    Hi Crissy,

    How are you?

There is a whole review on JFK in the POE section of this website.

i tried to paste the link: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poereviews.php

There's lots of reviews... looks like JFK is not so bad??

    Good luck,

    hz

I went through JFK this past September, got the EAD work permit stamp.

I had a 4 hour layover between the flights, that was more than enough.

  5. We picked up my fiance's packet at the embassy in Nairobi in early January, he did his medical and police report...called the number they gave us and has his interview on Feb 6th (in just a few hours Oh My God! :help: ). I am freaking out! We started our K-1 process in July 2007 and I went to Kenya (2nd trip) ON ELECTION DAY and stayed until January 11th. It was pretty crazy. As far as the bonus of the pressure the political cris involves...dunno! Your guess is as good as mine. We are hoping that basic humanity and common sense due to the political scene will fill the interviewers' heart and stamp that GOSH DARN VISA  ! I will update my profile with any additional info that I get. Good luck!

We met in Germany back in September 2006 and got engaged in July 2007 and generally see each other every 3-6 weeks. Meanwhile, her visa to Germany is about to expire, so with the time it takes to get approval to come to the States, we thought it best to just do everything back in her home country, Kenya. She went home for Christmas and now all hell is about to break out over the elections there. We want to do the Consular marriage in Nairobi but my work schedule will not allow me to go before late February or early March. I have never been to Kenya, so I have no idea what exactly to expect there. We are very anxious more than ever with the political instability now cropping up in Kenya.

I have heard, that getting her approval to come here can be done start to finish in a about month.

I have a couple of specific questions if anyone can help.

    1. Does anyone know approximately how long it takes to get everything through at the Nairobi Embassy? (assuming no problems)

    2. Will the local political problems have any affect on processing?

    3. (Wishful thinking) Will going into a country with posted travel warnings buy me any points to get things rolling faster?

  6. I just read your interview questions. That was a really super thing to do...thank you! I found it helpful, but freaky. Man they asked you a lot. I heard they just ask like 2-3 questions. My fiance has his interview in a couple of hours and I am just freaking out!

Since most of the July bunch are seasoned K1ers now I wondered if you could point me in the direction of decent info on what to do next. I've read the flowchart on the guides here and had a quick look around for threads but I'm lazy not sure which forum is best for this stuff.

    Thanks! :D

Haha - I haven't really done anything... Post NOA2 you can wait a week then try calling NVC/DOS to see if they have your file yet - it is recommended you call each day after that but CVC is so ####### slow that it can take around a month :P I'd call once a week then after three weeks call back each day :) They will then tell you your LND# if you ask nicely and tell you when they received it/sent it to embassy :)

I've attached instructions that were posted on VJ as well by rouguewave to help you try and track your case from NVC to embassy :)

Start trying to get the evidence for your I-134 now as from what I can see - other than the forms (which you can fill in online) this is the most time-consuming thing :)

  9. couldn't bear it...called NVC....AGAIN!!!

file was entered into their system yesterday and should be with london in 5-10 business days.......may have my packet 3 before christmas after all!

I want to call again to see if ours has laft NVC yet, but I don't really want to be a pest! Well, I do, but

I'll see how I feel this afternoon. Maybe I won't be able to resist then knowing I won't be able to check until Monday.

STP - inexplicably, the glass in my office window just shattered. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that would you? :P

I called them...well, actually I called the State Dept after hearing from NVC that they entered our case in the system on Monday (12/3/07). I just got off the phone with them (State Dept). Are training to be sarcastic and mean? The guy was a total ^%$%**&^%$#@$^&***%^ ! He said..."NVC sent your case electronically to Kenya, but has not mailed out the package yet." I asked him how Rama will be notified of the packet once it arrives and he told me, "Well, NVC will hunt him down. You know they have a lot of Kenyans to do that!"

WHAT FREAKIN EVER! I am sick of feeling at the mercy of these careless people. I have EVERY right to marry whom I choose. I paid the fee. I am signing a paper stating that I will be finacially responsible. He will come here and pay taxes. No one is losing out. Why do they have to be so damn vicious?

Sorry...had to vent. I just want a smooth interview and Rama here. BOO HOO! :crying:

Dang! That was totally unprofessional and uncalled for! It's scarey to think that people like this jerk have our lives in their hands! If not for that.... I'd be tempted to call and complain! What an ###!

I know...it was very surreal. It did not all sink in until I hung up, because I get nervous even talking to them. It is a strange relationship with these people....THANK GOD I am not marrying USCIS...talk about abusive, hahaha!

  11. Well unfortunately I did not make enough in 2006 to go above the income requirements as almost half the year I was in Kenya. This year however...I have done well, but do not get my W-2s until maybe January and do not want to delay the interview any longer as I will have to provide that info with the I-130 after he gets here (God willing) anyway. I got a letter from my employer, am getting a bank letter that shows how much has been deposited into my account this year AND I am including a most recent paystub to...once again...show my yearly accumulation. I am going to bring that to Rama when I arrive in Kenya on Dec 27th and by that time he should have his medical exam and packets done...ready to get an online interview appoitment scheduled.

I called NVC yesterday and they JUST received our paperwork that morning. I anticipate they should send the package to Nairobi within about a week. I keep checking weedebz profile to see if their packet arrived at the embassy yet...to give me hope!

    Take care!

  12. Hey there. Now that we are approved and Rama is getting his police report and immun record while awaiting his packets....I have a question. I am getting a letter from my employer and notorizing the I-134 to send to him by DHL. Is that all that I need to submit with the I-134? I have read that paystubs and tax returns are not necessary at this step, but rather when we apply for status change after he gets to the US God Willing. Does this sound about right to you all? Thanks!

    These days are bright! :)

    Happy in Seattle :jest: ,

    Crissy

It is my understanding that you want to send paystubs, tax returns with to the interview! at least I have heard that London has been really picky about seeing these at the interview. I wouldn't leave anything to chance and send it all to the interview and then keep it all for the AOS process.

    Just my 2 cents!

    Thank you!

  16. Are any of you planning to go through JFK to get a temporary EAD? Ny NOA1 was issued Aug 1st, so I expect my interview around end Feb/early March (hopefully). Our wedding isn't until May 31st (Debs, now we are date twins!), so I am thinking of going out for good straight after the interview. If I get the temp EAD, I am hoping to pick up some waitressing work, even if it is only for 8-10 weeks. I know that the temp EAD will run out before the 1 year EAD arrives, but I have some connections with a couple of restaurants, so hopefully it'll be ok, I can have a break, then start again.

Does anyone know of someone going through JFK and getting refused the EAD? I would hate to go out early, then not be able to work for 6 months, when I could have been a bit more patient and waited until closer to the wedding.

We are going to try that route too! I hope it works. I have heard it is the only airport that can offer a work permit, but I do not know much more about the process.
