  1. 4. Look at http://www.gorillamobile.com/ <- 13 cents landline / 19 cents mobile

I like gorillamobile. It may not be the cheapest, but it gives a clear connection and doesn't drop calls like a lot of the other calling card services.

Gorilla too, love it as you don't have to fanny around carrying cards and putting in pin numbers. I have all my overseas numbers stored on one touch dial in my cell phone.

Obviously internet cheapest way to go but you have to be both by a computer, don't have a landline so gorilla works for me!

  2. It's 7 years or so since i lived in pittsburgh so i know it's the most diversified of cities (besides the CMU students) and McKeesport even less. Have you thought about putting an advert on Craigslist looking for friends?

I did a quick search and found the pittsburgh branch of filipino association...

There's also the La Filipiniana restaurant in Lawrenceville and Squirrel Hill....

BYOB too, oh I miss that in Pittsburgh!!!

  3. Jonah, so so sorry to hear what is happening but you need to listen to the advice being given by every one on here, it's all solid and what is required. Every one is being nice about it but you surely must detect the untertone is they really want to give the pair of you the "tough love" approach which I am now trying to give you ever so lightly (trust me very unusual for me).

The two of you can't live on just being young and in love any more as you are parents, you now have a single most important person to take care of and need to step up to the plate and be responsible adults. Get Mario on the plane to start getting a home for you to start a new life ASAP!!

We're all on your side and wish only the best for you!

    Take care

  4. Hi All,

I just got my visa today 5:30PM. The delivery man was so thirsty and ask for cold water to drink hehe. Thanks to all!

This must be the guy's MO as he pulled the same routine with my fiance...bet he also asked if you needed a hand opening the envelopes?

  5. He can book on North West Airlines using his credit card that is what I did after being told by EVA and China that I couldn't because she needed to show the card at check in. She know has to change date so I had to give her the number to tell them at NW office.

  6. Ciela finally got the damn thing today, sooooo happy it's here, even if I'm still a little bitter about the whole process...still now is not the time for that - more of this....

We did have a little drama, the Delbros guy asked for a drink of water and offered to help her open envelopes, she said yes but he started opening whilst she was getting the water. So when he'd gone there was a minor panic as she hadn't seen the number of envelopes he'd opened. Anyway I read her the info from the Manila sticky and we got to the fact that it's just the brown envelope (it's actually yellow apparently) which remains sealed which it was!

Anyway she's calling Northwest tomorrow to try for the 18th but looks like the northwest Seattle leg of flight is full so will have to come through LA, still can't believe we're going to be together in a weeks time!!!!

  7. sorry out of my territory, you'll need the VJ experts for those questions. The letterhead i would imagine should try to look semi professional, the notary in theory is verifying the signature is that person so make sure they state their title as being the boss very clearly.

  8. your wife can have the CFO seminar WITHOUT the PASSPORT. JUst tell them that the passport is at the embassy. Just bring proper Identification documents (and more than one too). She will be given a CFO training certificate after she attended the said seminar BUT she cannot have her passport stamped yet (because she doesnt have her passport yet :) ). She needs to go to the CFO office once she receive her passport. She needs to present her CFO training certificate prior to the stamping (or gluing) of the CFO sticker.

    cheers! :)

Perfect, a precise answer to my question...I doth my cap

Here, have a shining angel smiley....

  9. You may as well have her wait and do it all in the same day after she gets visa in hand in the PP.

And your reasoning? We're tired of waiting, she's and her daughter are sat at home just ready to go, for one it would give her something to do.

We have a tickets bought and so the minute she has her visa she can be on a plane, be nice to have this sorted instead of pissing around with stupid government red tape yet again unless you are going to tell me she can just walk in and get it the minute her visa is in her hand...no thought not.

So no one can answer my original question then?

  10. Firstly sorry if this is a repeat question but I've trawled through the search and not come up with my specific answer.

So I've got the point that you can go for this seminar before receiving the visa, you get the certicate and then just go back and get the sticker....BUT can you go while you are awaiting document verification when the embassy holds your passport?

Many thanks in advance of the VJ oracles delivering me the answer :star:

Yes! My wife did it successfully... With the visa stage of the process, results may vary. There are inconsistancies because folks that work in various aspects of the visa stage do not understand the process. For more information, please read Section 6.2 of the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide.

    Good luck and Cheers!!!

    Sheriff Uling

Yeah i'd read that which is what motivated me to ask the question because 6.2 only stated you didn't have to have a visa. The CFO web site has number one requirement to be an "Original valid passport". Sorry to be fussy and to question you but you're saying your wife did it successfully without a visa AND NO PASSPORT?

    Cheers matey!

  12. Well just call the embassy on monday morning and they will tell you yes/no if you or your fiance was included in the previous friday's pickup. I spoke to Grace the last 2 Mondays around 9.30/10.00 am local time and last week she said no we weren't and then this week yes she was included. Why call NSO, they clearly don't want to give any info yet the Embassy has a person in place to answer these calls. Grace is very pleasant and encouraged me to call again to check up on how things are going (although she did accuse me of being Australian...I'm originally from England :D)

  13. Just spoke with Grace at embassy and Ciela was in the batch sent to them last friday...but she still wouldn't tell me any more than it would still take any time from a few days to a few weeks...one step nearer though!!!

    My update for chart is:

    Paid May 2

    Fwd to nso Jume 18

    Fwd to embassy June 27

  14. Note however, if you book from the US, Philippine air will not allow someone to board on a ticket booked with someone elses Credit card. Not sure what other airlines may have this policy, check with your carrier first.

EVA and China Airlines also have this policy, if you pay by CC you have to show the card when checking in. North West let me book on their web site but as she now has to change the date she has to give them my CC details as proof...or maybe Ciela just told me that to go buy herself a new wardrobe :D
