I did it via USPS. Beacuse i c did not have check from my bank(i know i need a checkbook), i went to USPS. He took my photo, chekced my documents, fixed my mistakes on paper, charged me full price and divided to 2 checks. It was all in 10 minutes. I recommend that.

Thanks for the tips! I may try applying thru the USPS as well.

we kinda had similar experience. While i was waiting approval (bcuz the pc were slow and i had virtual interview) he told me that if i had my phone with me i can open and play with it.

i waited about an hour and half and my interview was around 45 mins but 30 mins was waiting for slow pc (virtual interview is slower than f2f)

congratulations, apply passport asap, huge line for it.

Yeah, I waited for an hour and half too for my interview. But my interview was really quick and professional.
Congratulations you too! Yeah I need to apply for the passport and all the rest of the things too. It still doesn't feel over yet, especially given the huge lines for the passport where I have to mail away the paper that took so long to get 🤔

  3. Hey guys, just an update that I had my interview today and received my certificate.😊

I received a notification on case status two weeks ago. I called them up on the same day to find out the interview date. I received the paper interview notice within 3 days after that in the mail. But the online notice never showed up on my account.

I went in 15 min before my appointment. I thought I couldn't bring my cellphone inside, but I learned that I can indeed bring them inside now as long you don't use it as a recording device.

I waited for about an hour and a half before they called me for the interview, most other people were called fairly quickly though. They even skipped my number. But my interview was fairly short vs the other people were in there for more than half hour on average. I was done within like 15 min. The person before me was told that they would be given video interview, but mine was in person. There weren't many people there, it was not crowded at all.

My interview was pretty straightforward. Just quickly went over all the questions in my application, then the English and civics test. Then the oath ceremony right away. And I was told to wait outside for my certificate, which I received within a few minutes.

Thank you all for posting your experiences here. This was immensely helpful during these times of so much uncertainty. This was the only window into the realistic timelines out there and also all the info here has been super helpful.

I got a call today. I barely heard him. USCIS office scheduled an appointment for N400. Today August 26, and my interview will be at September 2nd. (or September 22, I couldn't hear :) and I was so excited lol ). My case status changed to interview but USCIS account still shows nothing. I will update more when I got the notice.

Congrats! What phone number called you? Was it a local number like 425 or 206? Or was it the national USCIS 1-800 phone number?

I have heard about phone calls before but I'd like to watch out for this one in particular.

Thank you so much!! It's been a loooong way for me too..I came to US in October 2002 and have had all the visas and work permits that you can imagine. It's been a ~18 year marathon!

I am thankful to members of this Forum for very helpful advice and to US Senator Maria Cantwell, who pushed my combo cases. 😃😃😃

Yeah, it has been decade and a half journey for me too. But I think the uncertainty spiked so much in the last year, that without this forum we would have been absolutely clueless. It has certainly been nerve wracking. Hopefully I will see an end to this soon too. This forum and its people have been the sole solace during these years. Thank you for posting and sharing your experiences and advice.

There will be another notification? Hmm

Just an update we received our GC today. Our first notification was on Jun 12, saying that our card was ordered. And then another notification Jun 15th, that our case was approved. And then another on Jun 25 that the card was mailed, and another notification on Jun 26 that the card was picked up by USPS along with the tracking number. And today we received it.  No word on N400 yet. So finally after 3 years, I-751 done 😌  And now N-400 to go as it reaches its 2 year mark.

After you get I751 Notice, how many days the card will be delivered?

It says 60 days but it is accurate? or they send in a week or two? I need to schedule a plane ticket...

We got our first notification that our card was sent for production on Jun 12th, and another notification of approval on Jun 15th. We received our approval notice in the mail. But we didn't even get any online notification that the card was mailed yet.

I just wonder what will be the approach for old filers like me. I filed the N-400 almost 20 months  ago (the expected completion date was originally Dec 2019 and then Feb 2020. Still in my rocking chair).

For the 2018 filers, is it possible to complain about outside normal processing range when they keep pushing the time line to 36 months? Has anybody tried anything or are we passively going to wait other 1.5 years?

My guess is that they have a blanket processing time to avoid all case inquiries for the time being, until they figure out how much the processing times have been realistically pushed out due to everything that is going on. Maybe they will update their processing times pretty soon again, given so many things are changing so quickly. I doubt the actual processing times are going to be pushed off 1.5 years, and I doubt we have to wait for that long. But then again I say this after we waited for 3 years for removal of conditions 🤔 But I do feel more optimistic this time.

    Hey congratulations!!! Try https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

    Usually this site is updated.

Thanks, Tm and Je! Congratulations on your card as well!!

Yes, we have been monitoring our status there. We previously fell out of habit monitoring this, but found it again.

We also recently created a Case Status Online account which is different from USCIS MyAccount . The Case Status Online account has been helpful in that it saves all the recent status updates (including all the case inquiries and response to the inquiries), more up-to-date and to set up notifications.  For us, the Case Status Online account in more accurate for I-751, whereas USCIS MyAccount is more accurate for N-400. So now we are monitoring both accounts.

  10. We are excited to share that our case status has changed to "New Card is being Produced" 😃 We tracked our RFE mail, and it was delivered on Jun 1st. Since then the case status didn't change at all (like RFE was received or anything), and today it changed straight to saying that they ordered a new card. We will update you when we have the card in our hands. Our MyUSCIS account still says case was transferred two years ago though.

Does the case status online change at all?

Mine is still "Case Was Transferred And A New Office Has Jurisdiction" since last August.

If you haven't already, maybe try checking the USCIS case status online, which is more up-to-date for I-751 than My USCIS account.

We are also longtime silent visitors 😁  And we are also on the same combo boat. Applied I-751 July 2017 and N400 in July 2018. We also received an RFE for I-751 in mid-May from Boise.  But our case status on the My USCIS account is still out of date and still shows that the case is transferred to the local office. And we fell out of habit to check the other site online case status daily.  We just happened to check the online case status about 5 days after RFE date was post-marked, and we still saw no status update at that time. And then we checked again like 2 weeks after the RFE post-marked date, and saw that the status was changed to RFE sent. So the moral of the story is to check the case status online often for I-751.

Further, we never received any physical copy in the mail. So we called the customer service right away to inquire. We realized the RFE letter may have been lost in the mail. Our mail from USCIS was lost on previous occasions too, so I don't know if this problem is just specific to us.

So during our first customer service call, I requested a digital copy instead of continuing to wait for the potentially lost physical copy in the mail. But the first person said they can't give me a digital copy and suggested to fill out a form to report lost mail. So I filled it out, but the form said it could take up to 30 days to hear back. So I called again hoping to talk to a second-tier officer, and luckily this time they transferred me right away to a very helpful second-tier officer and they emailed us a digital copy within minutes. Had we waited for the online lost mail request to be processed, I think we would have gone past the RFE deadline. So another moral of the story is to stay on top of things.

Combo filers we don't have a plastic green card or an extension letter any more.  The only way to change jobs, be promoted, apply for federal grants or travel is showing that I-551 stamp.

If it is just the employment that you are seeking, as a lawful permanent resident, there are some guidelines describing alternate forms of proof you may be able to use. You should checkout these links: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/61-lawful-permanent-residents-lpr

Take a look at the I-9 form: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9 especially the first and last page.
