Hello, unfortunately, my husband applied for divorce. I never liked it here, I came here to be with "MY MAN", I never wanted to moved here, but I did. The marriage did not worked out. I am planning to leave US for good as soon as I get permit to export my pet, which might take about 3 months after the divorce is finalized. I plan to keep my job and work until I leave the US. Will there be a problem with me being divorced and still working? It is not me, but US government (Fish & Wildlife) who takes that long to approve export of my pet. I know this is not an excuse for USCIS, but I really plan to leave. Is there any way for them to find me or to get in to trouble?
Receiver Cond. GC april 2008 - valid until april 2010
divorce in september 2009
still plan to work until I leave - poss. in November 2009 (hopefully the freaking US Fish... will hurry up and we can leave sooner)
Thanks for any answer or judgement

To OP. I am sorry for what's happing to you. Your baby is the most important person in your life. I do not know much about charity and church help, from time to time I read here that if one has problems they can contact some church and people there will guide them to help. Try to go to as many churches as you can, people there are nice and will help you to find what you need, possibly some place to stay until you will be able to live on your own. Or you can go back to your home country. You are strong, you can do ti on your own!!!
I understand how hard it is to stay with person you married no matter what. But now you have your baby, new life. Do it for yourself and your safety. You will be happy again.
I came here too, believing in marriage and to my husband, we do not have kids, for many reasons, he wants divorce, I strongly disagree, but now I know that he really does not want to be with me. It hurts a lot, my heart is about to explode, marriage means everything to me. Well, it is his choice. After he applied for divorce he really got greedy, taking more than he had, all we made together, all I worked for so hard. But there is nothing I can do. I just believe I will be happy again with somebody who really believe in marriage, not just say it. And I am going home, to be with my family and friends.
You can make it!

Hello! I was leaving US 3 weeks ago with my green card, for our vacation and at the check in was asked to show my green card and the flight att. documented it. I know airlines arent part of immigration but still...better to have it before u leave

Hello!
We are leaving in 3 weeks for our vacation to Asia. My husband is US citizens and has no problem to get medical travel insurance. Im US resident, non US citizen, I m citizen of Czech republic - holder of czech passport = my home country as insurance describe home country is the country of which passport u hold. In case of transport (medical reason or death) the insurance company will send me back to my home country Czech r not to US.
I know the probability of this (emergency medical travel) is very, very, very low but still...I live here in US, have my job and husband and pets and everything over here.
Is there any insurance company for immigrants traveling out for US for leisure and in case of emergency the insured person will be transported back to US - country of residence?
Thank you all for any help or recommendation.
And any recommendation what the best part to stay in Bangkok for 3 nights? Preferably noisy streets with markets and so on, not business district. I know I can get good value with 5* hotels but I prefer to stay close to ordinary thai people, maybe close to the river??? Thank u.

my I - 94 was still valid at the time of changing the name with SSA. ... I know its hard, sometimes they dont even know what they do. i was there with one of my friend, she came as me on K-1 visa and they refused to give her SS #. I tried to explain to her, that I got it and she can get it too as a K-1 holder with valis I-94 and she still refused. she came back there later with her husband and got it (in maiden name, coz they didnt have paper work done yet). Depends on arguments and mood...

Hi Danielle Justin.
Im from FL and was in the same situation year ago. I used my international DL (from czech, valid 1 year) until I got FL DL.
I was asked at DMV to change my name at SSA first because in their system they found only my maiden name. I was told to wait about 3 days after the change they didnt need to see my new SS card with married name (got it 2 weeks later). So I went to SSA same day and showed them I-797a or c - it was NOtice of Action - that USCIS received my applications, with that they were able to change my name and following week I went to get my FL DL and got it. They wont change the name without NOA I think coz we are immigrants.
Good luck!

Hi! Try to contact some school or college close to your home. I went to college for pretests and was going there 2x week for couple of hours. To me it seemed very easy, sometimes I was surprised by the question coz I was shock how easy it was.
Its very good start for future to get GED. I have certificate from my country, not sure if they recognize it here, when I started research I found it would take too much to be sure if they recognize it or not. Classes were for free, but I needed my social security number, maybe its different in the state u live. After few weeks I decided to take the test, there u definitely need SS#.
Im not planning to study in near future coz I havent decided what I would like to do, but with GED u can continue with studies.
I would recommend to take few pretests and consider taking GED. Math, science and grammar were easy. I didnt like reading, coz there were english poems written in old english and I had no clue what they were asking. And writing wasnt easy too. But I think I passed, I Hope!!! Takes about 4-6 weeks for result. I did mine on NOv 11 & 12. Good luck! Its easy!

Thank u both of u.
Yes, originaly I said 2 weeks, if it was up to me I would go for 3, coz I ll be off for 3, and I m kind of person that I want everything in order, if I can get visa in advance than I ll do it.
Old dominion, thank u for the info, thats what I was looking for but somehow I was unable to find it on their website
And the situation changed a bit last night.... husband told me he has heard that they might close the shop he manages by end of the year ...if this happens than we ll have to wait.
Thanks again for your help and I m sorry for confusion

Thank u.
Lets say I might be there 16 days, or I just want to get visa prior departure, thats the way Im, I want to be sure I have the visa before I fly there. I know, but thats the way I m....sorry

Hello! I know this forum is for visa coming to US, but now Im in US planning vacation to Thailand. Im sure there is more people like me - green card holder wishing to visit Thailand and requiring visa prior travel. I found website - http://www.traveldocs.com/th/vr.htm#nonus - some comapny can apply for visa on my behalf...I checked Thai embassy website, Washington d.c. but havent found helpful information. Im sure the info is somewhere there, but it all seems complicated to me. Shall I trust to the company and send my passport? Any other ideas or experience?
I know the requirements and I know I need the visa, those are the facts.
Thanks u all for any helpful info.
Also any idea about best islands in the south of Thailand? Going only for 2 weeks, 2 days in the air, not many days left in Thailand. Well, I m not going yet, just planning it in my head for March 2009.
Thank u.

Yes, i agree with OP 100%. Yes, there is definitely something wrong. I was alsking and telling to my husband and people around me forever, hm, they had no clue, all of them were US. When I wash the cup from milk it dye the water, looks really bad. Doesnt taste like our European milk. I m Czech but have lived in Scotland for couple of years and I would say their milk is better than czech but milk here taste like water with some dye. I have tried fat milk, skimmed milk, semmi milk, all the same fake milk. And unfortunatelly Im not going to spend fortune on organic milk or get the cow in our back yard.
Well, lots of US food taste different, sugar, salt, sugar and salt. Sometimes I wander what really it is made of. read interesting book about food and how CJD started and all this stuff, I think itha name was Insomnia something. we dont want to know....so Ill continue to drink this white stuff.

Hello.
I m not sure whether I can apply for new SS card which wont say - valid for work only with DHS authorization? I received my Green card yesterday (conditional for 2 y). Also, my EAD is only for 1 year. Do I have to apply again next year or is GC enough for proof of employment? What is my next step? Lifting conditions in 21 months?
Thanks for your help

To Tashyta
Do what u feel its right for u and your life. If u are not sure about your life with him together and dont feel enough support and love from him...
I know what I talk about. I was in similar situation. Lived with my ex for 2 years in UK, applied for de facto spouse visa and followed him to Australia (he is AUS), we kind of knew it wouldnt worked out but I loved him soooo much and I gave up everything and followed him. Well, I stayed there just 2 months...we loved each other a lot but it didnt worked out. I bought the ticket and last week we spent together was one of the worst experience of my life, we both cried all day but we knew we wouldnt be good together. So the only solution was to leave and live our own lives. He went to the airport with me and we cried and cried. I cried all the way home, almost 24 h on the plane. Took me long time to recovered from what I went through and when I got home I promised to myself I ll never move for man again. few months later I met Robert - now my lovely husband, well, I moved again but this time I was sure about my feelings.
I wish u good luck in your future and good luck with making the right decision. Sometimes u need to be selfish and do the best for yourself and also for him. And yes, if u leave, it will be very hard next few months or years. But u ll be home with all your friends and family.

I brought over 10K in cash and declared everything including every other coin i had, dollars, pounds, crowns, euros, and the officer made sure he wrote it right. he gave me really hard time, spent there about 30 mins trying to explaining how I saved that amount in cash. he didnt believe me that I saved it and all tat. I told him I had proof from all of my bank acc and working in the Uk, paying tax for that bla bla bla. But he was probably happy giving me hard time coz he had something to do in that boring afternoon.
Yes, u should declare it. Also, in the bank following monday, when i opened new bank account, the lady told me, she had to report any amount over 10K.
Good luck.

Ok, Kezzie, thank u. Yes, u r right but it sucks these laws! I was ready for work this morning, and decided to wait and call USCIS at 9 to hear that bad news from them. Talked to a nice man and he said the same - yes, even when I was approved (my EAD and card is on the way) I have to wait until it actually arrives to our mail box. ok, the garden is done, so maybe another boring day at home, coz its too cold to go to the beach, hm...few more days.
Thanks again for clarification.

Shadow 42.
Look here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=117430
I thought I had to stop working too, now my EAD was approved on FRI and I asked q in this forum, u&Dan gave me the form to read saying i ll have to wait for the card. I read the form I-9 and it says - section 2, if i dont have work permit i must present receipt of application for that - original NOA1 and actual document within 90 days (u ll get or u should get NOA2 within 90 days) so I found out I didnt have to quit the job!!!
I m working again from today, for my mother in law, she understand our situation but I believe there will be many employers not willing to do that and employ u (or continue employing) just with NOA1, print I-9 and take it with u. Good luck!
Yes, it sucks here without 2nd income!
-
Thank u U&Dan, I read that form u gave me and it sound like I never had to quit my job!
Says I have to show my receipt (NOA1) and show my work permit within 90 days. I would work again for my mother in law and she know all this steps I m going through so she knows I ll get my EAD card within few days.
I sent it to her too so she ll check it out. Thank u very much!!!

Hello all. My EAD was approved yesterday and CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED (3/21) and I checked uscis web site and tried to find answer whether I m able to work lets say from this coming monday? & havent found the answer. Or do I have to wait until I really have EAD in hand? Well, I could work for my mother in law from now on for next few days coz it only temporary until her cook will be back from sick leave.
Thanks for your answer.

Just got back from biometrics Tampa. I had to wait more than 1 hour, there were tooooooo many people with the same appointment time. And there were slow, way tooooo slow. I just thought - OMG, there were like about 50 people in 1 hour, thats about 400 people/day, thats about 100 000 immigrant a year in only 1 USCIS centre, ok ok, maybe not that much, some people go twice, 3 times...so its "only" 50 000 people in 1 year for Tampa area. Now i hope for EAD approval coz I hate being at home and working hard in the garden all day every day, i want to meet new people, make friends.
-
I also waited for BIO appoitment tooo long, ;look at my timelines. I feel its so unfair to us we have to wait so long for BIO = EAD . I was working before and had to stop coz my 90 days I-94 expired. It really sucks! Yup, god bless america
Bring a puppie with me? Any experience

I do not know exact requirements for shipping the dog, but after my experience with transporting my bird from US to EU I advise you that is not easy. I needed CITES permits from both countries - I dont think you need it, but I needed International health certificate and certificate from State veterinary and custom forms. International health certificate was valid only 10 days and prior the flight I had to sent it to validated it from the state veterinary, all within 10 days prior departure - this certificate was needed by airlines. The other paper work - State veterinary approval was saying that I am bringing suchj and such animal that wll stay on that adress and so on, I had to apply in advance. Custom form - 2 days prior departure I had to fax paper work to custom office in both countries (US and Czech republic) to let them know we were going to leave through one of the port of export of animals (not every airport is available for port of imprt/export). + I had to have 2 forms of CITES (ministry of agriculture), for export and import. To get all the paperwork in order it took me 4,5 month and cost me my nerves
I did it for me and my bird because we love each other and he depends on me because I brought him up. Lots of hard work, paperwork, help from many nice people, vets, offices, airlines, flight attendants, now I can not thanks enough that me and my parrot are together, but if you have a choice I advice you to wait intil you get to US and then buy a doggie over there with your partner. Good luck in whatever you decide.
