  1. Please stay safe! I agree and just want to add my voice to all the other replies. Sorry if this is redundant. What your husband is doing is domestic violence / abuse, and it's not legal! Get yourself to safety, please! Women's shelter, police, friend/relative (though you may not have too many here in the US). Once you are safe, you may try to go to counseling with your husband. It's possible for the situation to change, but safety has to be established first. And don't worry about the green card. Your husband can't kick you out of the country. Only the government can do that!
  2. I had to be persistent with my HR dept to get my wife added to my insurance without a SSN. It took 2-3 e-mails and they took care of it. I think you have a pretty good claim to be added even after the 30-days, especially if you show the attempt to be added within the 30 days. I think they will add you now if you ask assertively. I got my wife on our bank account, though she can't get a debit card or checkbook because no SSN and her name doesn't match her ID since she married. Our landlord is very kind and wrote us up a new lease with her name on it. Maybe you could ask them to do that, too! Worth asking. And any paper mail (official or handwritten) that comes to your shared home address, that has your name on it: bring that also. Especially if it's a bill or a bank statement or something. Even if it's not strong evidence, the more the better, I think. Not that I know what I'm talking about, but that's our plan, anyway.
  3. On the K-1 timeline, it says that we should be applying for a SSN before submitting the I-485 and getting a work authorization. Is that correct? We just got our marriage license in hand yesterday, we made an appointment with the SSA for next week, and we still have not sent in the I-485 (will do that soon). Do we need to have a work authorization in order to get a SSN? Just wanting some clarity on the sequence of these steps. Also which name to we put on the SS-5? We already have our marriage license with her married name, but her passport is in maiden her name. Also what kind of additional ID or paperwork would we need to show for the SSN appointment? The list of items in the SS-5 instructions includes a bunch of US issued identifications, which of course Cintya does not have yet. Thanks! Aaron and Cintya.
  4. The "tiny link" comment was actually a clue... I found the answer in another thread. Click here: https://www.visajourney.com/reviews/ and then at the top, above the drop-down menus, there is this *TINY* link that says "Edit Previous Consulate Review on ____ (date) _____" I hope that helps!
  5. Here it says "another form of valid ID (as defined in the SS-5 instructions)"... but in the instructions, all the valid forms of ID are U.S. issued, which recent K-# arrivals do not have. So what should we do for this?
  6. I've been trying to log into CEAC, and I'm not sure I am using the correct numbers. For the Case number, I'm using the one that starts with MEX202*********** , which is what the NVC gave me when I called (they never sent me anything). And for the invoice number, I'm using the Receipt number on my NOA2, which is WAC209*********** Are those the correct numbers to use to log into CEAC? Thanks for the help.
  7. OP again: I just talked to NVC, and they said we were okay. Our case was changed to a different embassy (the one in Mexico City), and the agent gave us our case number! (I had not received a case number yet.) But the case is delayed due to COVID and still sitting at NVC waiting to be sent to the embassy, and so we just have to wait for notification. Thanks! Aaron and Cintya.
  8. We received NOA2 dated Feb 11, 2021, and it says it's valid from Feb 10 to June 9, 2021. We have not received any other communication. This week, I sent an e-mail to the NVC inquiring about the case, and the estimated processing time for e-mails is currently two weeks, which puts us right at the June 9 deadline. I just called the NVC, and there was a recording saying to call back later. Do I need to call back? My fiancee talked with the embassy yesterday (in Spanish, yay!), and the agent was very friendly and helpful. He told her it was very important that I call the NVC immediately, because if the notice expires on June 9, according to him we can lose our whole application process. What do I do? Could this have to do with my I-134? I was following instructions on the K-1 guide here, and it said to keep the I-134 and also to send one to my fiancee, but not to submit it yet. Do I need to send it to the NVC? Thanks! Aaron and Cintya
