  1. Update:

The judge who did our ceremony never did fix his error...and our senator said he really didn't have any jurisdiction in this matter. We ended up contacting the cheif judge in our county and he said he would make sure everything was corrected. Still, we ended up submitting the marriage certificate as-is with the error not corrected "correctly" because everyone was moving so slow. Alhamdulillah, it wasn't as big a problem as the service center said it would be. (My husband got his greencard last month.) It sounds like he was just a judge on a power trip.

This judge (and his lovely receptionist) was very rude and unprofessional. If any one is planning on a courthouse ceremony in Hennepin County (Minnesota), choose your judge wisely! ;)

  2. We have requested an appointment with the chief judge for our county. He has the right to override the other judges descision. (which has NO basis) Inshallah, he can get this done fast enough. Everyone seems to be moving soooooo slow here! Otherwise we will just submit the marriage lisence as is (since we are legally married) and just expect an RFE. We will see what happens in the next couple days...our next option may be contacting the local news stations. I'm sure they can get the ball rolling faster than anyone else.

  3. i'm not seeing anything in the op to indicate it's bias specifically against muslims.

maybe the OP just pissed them off and they arent predudiced against anything! except people who piss them off lol.... i have had things get delayed, food spit on, all sorts of things in life due to my rudeness. now i have learned from this and kill them with kindness, even if people are trying my patience

I am DEFINITLY not a rude person like you are. I am actually a very quiet and polite person by nature. lol hubby says i need to do some yelling with these people!

  4. i'm not seeing anything in the op to indicate it's bias specifically against muslims.

I can't think of any other reason... or maybe he just doesn't like palestinians. Why us specifically?? Heck, if we were two african-americans i bet we could really blow this up.

Sorry for your misfortune, but PLEASE explain what you mean???? If you and hubby were 2 African Americans you could blow it up? Can you inform an African American on how this would come about. We all have misfortunes and the Judge really sucks, but a mess up is a mess up. African Americans DEFINITELY don't get preferential treatment . If you were African American, you would still be in the SAME predicament.

Okay i know what you mean. I just mean that i feel like Muslims get horrible treatment all the time and no one ever says anything about it. (at least where i am from) I am just so frustrated with this judge because i have NO IDEA what his problem is with us and he will not give us any awnsers.

  5. The lady at the courthouse said we are legally married...its just this certificate that will not be legal unless he signs the affidavit. The only way to get it fixed is to petition the cheif judge above him and take legal action. (which sounds like it could take some time) This is what we are going to have to do i guess. It just seems so silly that he is making such a simple thing such a HUGE deal!!

  6. I'm still in shock over this one... My husband came here with a fiance visa on May 8th of this year. On May 23rd we got married at the courthouse. It was a quick but nice ceremony and we thought everything would be routine (as far as the immigration process) after that. The judge ended up writing the wrong date on the marriage certificate. He submitted it wrong and it was sent back to him. Now you would think a judge would know how to correct a legal document, but he just scratched out the error and wrote in the correct date. It was sent back to him a second time... 5 weeks later we still don't have the marriage certificate. The judge's secretary got very rude with me and told me that he made the corrections and i must deal with the county service center now. So today we went down to the service center and find out that the judge refused to sign the affidavit to legally correct the marriage certificate!!! The lady at the service desk explained that he would not give a reason as to why he would not correct his mistake...just simply refused to do it! So here we have a marriage certificate that is not legal and the judge will not fix his simple mistake. I called his secretary to try and get some clarification as to why he did this, but she was very rude with me and said it was his descision not to correct it. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD ANYONE DO THIS??? He was very aware that we needed this for immigration. And to make matters worse, he kept the marriage certificate almost a month before deciding not to correct it! The lady at the service center said she has never heard of a judge doing this to anyone before. Now we have a month to get a lawyer and contact immigration to figure out how we can make this legal. AH, it makes me so angry that someone can do this... I can't help but think this a case of prejudice. I wish i wish i wish we would have gotten married at the mosque. I can't believe this judge can knowingly make our lives hell without any explanation.

  7. woooooooooooooow congratulation faith I'm so happy for you and for your fiance amr i think this is his name

no advice cause i think you guys are ready for that step since 4 years ago

GOD bless you both and inshaallah he will pass the interview and you will get short ap inshaalah

and remember they will not allow you to go with him to the interview window

Im not sure of that...someone else had an interview in january in Cairo...and she went to window with him..both were interviewed...i have email confirming i'll be allowed...maybe its changed...

    Faith

Congratulations on getting an interview date !!!:dance::thumbs:

I think the case you are talking about was a DCF -- on those, they interview both petitioner and beneficiary.

Unfortunately, they won't even let you into the building to attend the interview with your fiance, or to sit with him while he waits. But it doesn't hurt for him to let them know you are in the country and waiting outside.

    Best of luck !

Congratulations Faith for interview , and i'm sure you will be allowed into the embassy and at window too , we had our interview for k1 visa too not DCF and my fiancee was allowed into the embassy ...and when they called my name for the interview we walked to the window together and i think because the CO was very nice and gentelman he couldn't tell my fiancee to go back and set in the waiting area , he even asked her more questions than me . go faith and good luck for you both .

will be easy interview inshallah for your fiance

  8. :dance::dance:YOOOOOOOOOO WHOOOOOOOOOOO :dance::dance:

AHMED WAS APPROVED!! ONLY 4 HOURS AFTER ARRIVING AT THE EMBASSY AND I GET THE CALL  WOW I THINK IT IS RECORD TIME.

HE SAID THE CO WAS NICE..FIRST ASKED IF HE WANTED INTERVIEW IN ENGLISH OR ARABIC.....HE SAID ARABIC. THE CO ASKED WHY HE SAID TO PROVE I CAN SPEAK ENGLISH GOOD AND UNDERSTAND MY FIANCEE WHEN WE COMMUNICATE

THEN THEY ASKED FOR MY ORIGINAL DIVORCE PAPERS. ALSO ASKED FOR PICTURES AND HE PULLED A WHOLE STACK OUT AND THEY SAID OH NEVER MIND WE HAVE PLENTY IN OUR FILE ALREADY. SO HE PUT THEM AWAY.

THEN THEY ASKED IF WE HAD MARRIED EVEN IF JUST PAPER AND NOT LEGAL..AHMED SAID HE LOOKED WORRIED BUT HE TOLD TRUTH THAT WE DID DO THE SIGING OF PAPERS SO WE CAN STAY IN FLAT TOGETHER BUT IT IS NOT SIGNED BY JUDGE AND NOT LEGAL. THE CO THEN SAID DO NOT WORRY WE JUST WANTED TO SEE IF YOU HONEST OR NOT. IT HAS NO EFFECT ON THE K1 VISA.

NEXT THE CO ASKED FOR OUR GENERAL HISTORY. SO AHMED TOLD HIM WE MET ONLINE IN CHAT COMMUNITY CALLED PALTALK IN ROOM CALLED INTERNATIONAL CAFE FOR FRIENDS OF THE WORLD IN JAN 2007....THEN IN MARCH WE DECIDED WE IN LOVE AND WANTED TO MARRY AND I CAME IN JUNE AND WE SIGN THE PAPERS JUNE 21 2007 AND WE ARE MARRIED IN ALLAH EYES AND OUR HEARTS JUST NOT LEGAL YET. THEN I CAME AGIAN IN OCTOBER.....CO SAID SHE CAME TWICE....AHMED SAID YES.

HE SAID OKAY CONGRATULATIONS! HAVE GOOD LIFE IN USA AND HAPPY MARRIAGE ALWAYS. YOU SHOULD GET VISA IN 2 TO 3 WEEKS.

HE GAVE DIVORCE PAPERS BACK AND SENT HIM FOR FINGERPRINTS AND TO PAY DHL FEE. THEY KEPT HIS PASSPORT AND GAVE HIM COPY OF THE DHL SLIP SO WE CAN TRACK VISA. (WE SENT OUR PASSPORT WITH PACKET 3--- THE ORIGINAL ONE NOT COPY)

HE ALSO DID NOT HAVE TO PAY HE ADDITIONAL $31 CIB VISA FEE. WE READ SOMEWHERE IF U DID NOT INTERVIEW BY JAN 31ST YOU HAD TO...BUT THEY DID NOT ASK HIM TO.

SO THAT WAS IT....ALL THIS WORRYING OVER NOTHING....MY HABIBI WILL HAVE VISA SOON!! IT JUST SEEMS SO UNREAL....I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED.

THANKS YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT.....YOUR THE BEST. (F)

    CHERYL

Congratulations  u see, the interview is not scary as you thought

speedy visa inshallah and happy marriage

  9. alrighty...so I am so happy I have finally figured out why we can never get answers from the embassies (especially Egypt) or why we wait forever...thank goodness I finally figured it out...so here it goes :D

their concept of handing out visas = all based on the show LOST

i dunno if you watch it or not but just think about it...

-they have been stranded on island for months/years = our hubbies/fiances are stranded and stuck in their countries on the island of AP/AR

-they cannot leave even if they want to = our loved ones cannot leave without their visas

-everytime they contact someone they get the same standard "we are here to rescue you soon" = everytime we contact an embassy they say "you are in AP...when it is over you will get your visa soon"

    - the island tests their patience to survive without their loved ones = so do the magnificent MENA embassies

    - the island gives them false hope with random visitors to the island who claim the end is soon = the embassies give us false hope that the waiting will end with field investigator visits to our homes

    - whenever someone attempts to get off the island through boat/helicopter/whatever, they either die or something happens to prevent it through the superpowers of the island = whenever someone tells us that the visa will be issued in two weeks and we wait it kills us inside and the laziness of the embassies prevents it from happening

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

well just thought i would give my input...hope the show does not mess too much with their heads... rabena yehdehom...LOL...inshAllah we will all be reunited with our loved ones soon :) i only pray...

    LOST :girlwerewolf2xn:

  13. Who did your husband have as the consular officer at the interview?

If it was a young, kind, African American woman with hijab.........then you really might be hearing something within the two weeks.......maybe even sooner.

Also, for those of you who have been & are waiting forever in AP in Cairo for a K3 visa.......if your I130 is not expired and you can somehow get it forwarded to the NVC and pursue a CR1/IR1 visa........go for it.

I thought long & hard before filing an I824 to have the I130 forwarded to the NVC to pursue a CR1 visa alongside the K3.......but, in retrospect, I am really glad I did because my husband got the CR1 visa 7 days after his interview........meanwhile, the K3 is still in AP.........since May. At the interview he was told he'd get it within 2 weeks.

I honestly feel that there is a complete lack of communication between Cairo's immigrant & nonimmigrant visa units. I also honestly feel that who you get as your CO at your interview has a lot to do with how long you'll wait for a visa.

Good luck to everyone still waiting. This process is very frustrating.

I think its too early to know

I think so too. I'm not going to stress it yet, but I'm also not going to be calling DOS again anytime soon

thanks for the response though

Is it true that there is African american woman wearing Hijab in the consulate??
