  1. I had an infopass today about my case being out of processing. One of the questions I asked was to understand why my NOA for the EAD had the correct A# and the EAD card itself had an incorrect A#.

She told me in April the A# changed and I need to start using the new number going forward. I did not receive a notice in the mail about this. Is this even possible? I thought this number stuck around forever? Has anyone else ever heard of the A# changing during the AOS Green Card process??

  2. Infopass today. Found out that they changed my wife's A# in april... I don't know whats up with that, but that's what the IO said and is why she has a new A# on her new work card. They said we were scheduled for processing in janurary and they started working on it and stopped. The IO called her supervisor to come over and they sent us back to the waiting area while they talked about it. The lady called us back and said she has no idea why they stopped and that nothing is wrong. She said she sent an email requesting the CSC to locate and process the case. She then gave me a print off w/ a code on it as proof she sent the email, but did not provide the email.

I'm hoping to see a touch this week if her email means anything.

  3. My wife received her renewed EAD card yesterday. Today we noticed that the A# from her old to the new one does not match. We verified the A#'s against all of her other paper work and see that only the new one is wrong. The NOA has the correct number, but the paper that came with the card and the card itself is 1 digit off.

What happens now?? I assume this card is invalid for work purposes (she lost her job 1 week before the old one expired which was 1 week before the new one came :( ).

We are currently stuck in processing for the GC (approaching 1.5 years with no reasons why... but that's another battle).

Sometimes i swear they are just effin' with us because they can.

  4. Just an update:

No green card yet and no further touches. I'm going to schedule another info pass to find out whats wrong now.

I also have not heard any about the work permit and the Wife's permit expired today and she lost her job. Oh well, what's $2,000 a month in despoable income... right?

Woohoo, gotta love the USA. 14 months and counting on this AOS that was transfered to Cali for "speedy" processing and has no interview needed according to the last Infopass.

  5. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...0004718190aRCRD

If you are filing this application concurrently with Form I-485, Application for Permanent Residence, no fee is required to file this form. As of 07/30/07, if you file your Form I-765 separately, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797C, Notice of Action, as a receipt of evidence for the filing of your I-485.

Basically it looks like it's free, but its a gray area as it says nothing about a renewal fee. I read on other message boards that you can write a letter to the processing place that has it showing you were charged automatically by the efile system and attach copies of proof from USCIS I do not need to pay and proof that I did pay.

I think it's worth the 20 minutes it'll take to put that together to see if they refund me...

  6. I'm going to go ahead and order the new EAD so there isn't a gap in coverage... Of course this means i'll get the green card the day after i pay the EAD fee... right?

The $340 extra i just had to pay is because the EAD is going to expire and I would rather spend $340 one time than have my wife lose her job and the couple thousand a month that she makes.

As I understand it, there is no fee to renew EAD for everybody who filed AOS after July 15, 2007.

Have any proof of that? It automatically charged $340 on the online renew, and i did select renew. Obviously $340 is worth still working so if I loose it or they approve before I even get my letter from the renewal, its no big deal. The weekly paycheck every week is more important :).

I just received this email from CRIS:

Blah blah list of personal info>......

The status of this service request is:

Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 60 days of the date of this letter.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Like you, my AOS is also pending. And like you, I also recieved same kind of letter after calling the USCIS 1800 number 3 times. Can you believe that?

But you may want to still want to schedule an INFO PASS appointment because in cases like ours, where it is taking a long time for USCIS to process, there is certainly something wrong. Our interview was Sept 15, 08. Me and my hubby went for INFO pass appointment sometime January. The Immigration Officer at room 1001 told us, there should have been a decision already considering our interview was long been finished, but for some reason that we don't know for a long time, it was pending. We were then directed to go at the room where the approving officer sits and after hours of waiting, we were told that we need to submit more documents of bona fide marriage. My EAD expired just because I was assuming and believed that my AOS card will arrive before EAD expires.

So, I suggest you schedule for INFO PASS, be deligent because USCIS does not care if we lose our work because of their slow process.

    Just sharing my opinion.

We have not even started processing after first sending it. We have not had an interview scheduled yet or anything. We are still at the submitted and transferred stage.

    The good news?

    03/12/2009 TOUCHED!!!

This is the first touch since being transferred to CSC. Here's hoping for the best...

Now, should my case be approved short term, is there any way to get the $340 back if we don't end up needing the EAD, or is that a SOL case?

  7. I'm nearly certain my file was lost in transition. I just hope they locate it. I'm just looking to get my first touch in 8 or 9 months heh.

I still love how the NOA for the transfer said "We are transferring your case to speed up processing" or something like that.

The $340 extra i just had to pay is because the EAD is going to expire and I would rather spend $340 one time than have my wife lose her job and the couple thousand a month that she makes.

  8. Are you applying for 10 year green card or are you still trying toget your 2 year green card. We were transfered to CSC and had no problem. An has had a green card since July of 08 you should have had all this back by now.

We are still working on the 2 year green card.

are you stuck in the FBI name check? if so here is some info

    http://www.usvisanews.com/content/view/180/2/

accdg to your timeline, your tfr to CSC is march 09, i am assuming thats a typo and its March 08 right? you need to find out if its the name check if so they are required to grant you the GC its been way over 180 days since the tfr

CSC transfer date is March 17, 2008. I'll update the timeline.

I just got off the phone and they were able to confirm I am well outside of the processing window, however, they could not take further action with out my wife present as they needed to confirm information with her first. He said to call back and have them to talk her to see if they are able to make a decision on the case do to the long period of time out side of the processing times.

According to the Infopass in Dec '08 our case was not in FBI name check and was slated to be looked at in Feb '09.

  9. I'm stuck in CSC "Pending normal processing" after a transfer on 4/22/08 from my field office. The Infopass (in Dec '08) basically said all is fine and I'm in line and it'll be my turn in Feb '09 + or - 3 months and won't be needing an interview. I've had 0 touches since 4/22/08.

    Meanwhile...

CSC is now processing August 15, 2008 for I 485 and my field office is processing July 14, 2008. And i'm just sitting here getting ready to choke up another $340 for a EAD because it looks i'm on permanent wait. I'm going to call in the morning now that CSC is processing beyond my date all the sudden, by 6 months!!!

Any experience of what happens when your Infopass and case status say you are processing normally and then all the sudden you are 6 months behind the processing date posted on the CSC after a transfer?

  10. Actually, I think I am last from feb '08.

  11. Welp, I'm home already. Everything went... well. I was pretty shocked. I had stayed up all last night worrying about today's appointment and it was all for not.

Appointment 7:45 at the Tampa, FL office. The Biometrics was on one side of the city (the one furthest from me lol) and it turns out this was on the closer side. I left my house an 1:15 early because I thought I had a lot of city traveling do, but I was wrong.

    7:45

The wife and I walked up to the building. One set of doors said "EXIT DO NOT ENTER" and the other said "WAIT OUTSIDE UNTIL YOU ARE CALLED TO ENTER." One by one a security gaurd was letting people in if they had a letter. They would then put their stuff on an xray belt and you would pass through one of those metal detector things where another guard would check you out.

    7:47

They let us in even though my paper said the earliest they'd let us in is 15 min before the scheduled time of 8:30. We pass through security and they have us wait in line (1st peeps there) for "check in."

    7:49

We get checked in which was pretty much just confirming our letter and zip code and they print a number and tell you to go down the hall and sit and wait.

    7:50

We are the only ones in the room with 1 couple at the only open window.

    7:52

We are called to the window. A nice gentleman in his mid 30's was there to great us. Both parties were very polite. He asked how he could help.

I presented him with my documents 1 by 1 and explained we submitted in late Feb and that their website showed March as the processing date, but that I had been transferred to the CSC and they show july 2006. He looked through everything i had, typed some stuff into the computer, scanned some docs in, and asked if we received the work card (yes). He said everything is fine, and we are under normal processing with nothing out of the ordinary going on. He said the wait time in CSC is actually about 1 year and he expects us to be processed in Feb with the normal 30-90 days of leeway. He said not to worry and that it was showing we would not need an interview (cool).

    8:00

We were on the highway headed back home.

In and out in 15 minutes!! The wife and I both dressed nicely, had all of our docs ready and in order, were polite to each person we encountered and followed all directions. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood and it went well.

The wife and I both feel relieved to have some information other than "We are currently processing July 2006, call back when it is 1 month after the current date blah blah." The wife is upset though because she will probably lose her job do to no green card. Our company is switching away from commercial contracts and is going strictly government, aerospace, and military only. Because of this, they require a green card at minimum. Thankfully, my wife is an outstanding worker and I have a good amount of connections being a manager at the company. I'll be able to find her work in another division until she gets her green card at which point about 5 different managers will fight to the death to have her on their team lol.

Just because the option is there and we'd prefer her to stay employed where she is and move into the new building where she will have far more opportunity (and more $$$ at that), I will write a letter to my Rep to see if he can get it pushed through a little faster since her job is at stake. The Rep for me is pushing economy and jobs in his blog right now, so maybe he'll take heart to it. If not, its just a bunch of inconvenience for us for the next couple months until she gets her card.

    We'll see...

  12. Congrats on the GC's! It looks like i'm not the only one still waiting out there. You guys had your I485 submitted a couple weeks before mine and are just now getting the interviews done. I hope I find something out soon.

I have my Infopass scheduled for tomorrow at 8:30am. I'll let everyone know how it goes. I've got all my docs and questions prepared already. I basically want to know why i was transferred to "speed things up" when I would have already been done, and what is happening with my case out and no mans land, and let them know if the card doesn't come soon it means my wife will lose her job and go on unemployment. Hopefully being face to face with a decent person will help and they can do something. If not, I'm off to letter writing. I have all the info for my local rep so I can email and snail mail letters. I need this to get mooooooooving.

  13. So this really, really SUCKS.

I called and they said that even though I'm outside of the window for my field office (they are working on March 10) that I have to go by where it was transferred to. That's fine... The problem is that CSC shows July 06 as their current processing and that's for work based only. So now i'm effed. If they never would have transferred, i'd be done already. Stupid government strikes again.

So now not only am I outside of the 6 month + 1 month window for my last few notices, i'm also stuck in no man's land.

I'm writing a letter to my Rep and going to make an infopass.

  14. Congrats guys.

I think i'm the last one left lol. I'm now out of the processing time frame for my field office. They show March 10 but i'm from feb. I'm going to give them a call today because that's what it says to do on the processing time frame page. I know i want hear anything special, but the wife is freakin' out becuase there is a push at her work to go to only green cards or citizens and she's fearing a layoff (they have them once a month, and are moving towards military and gov contract only).

I'm guessing i'm one of those that getting the FBI look over. *sigh*

  15. Hey, looks like there are a few of us Feburary'ers left, I have not had a touch since Mar. 18, 2008

I called on congressmen office and the lady told me that my application was is process and that

she was closing me case, an other congressman aid doesn't not return my calls. I call uscis several times

and finally got someone to open a service request. She told me that I would be hereing from someone in the Denver office, by Dec 19. im not holding my breath  I

Also, 1 quick question. after you get your green card what other documents do you need to travel out of

    the country?

    Happy Thanksgiving

    Pat

Nothing for me too. My last touch was 4/22. I guess I'm going to work on getting an Infopass to see what's up. I'm sooooo glad that they transferred me to the CSC to speed things up in April. (sarcasm.)

  16. I got my Welcome Letter and I-130 approvals on Monday. Card Production was ordered last Friday, only updated on Monday. I'm hoping my card will come in the mail later this week - if Lili's experience is something to go by.

I hope you hear about yours soon.

    Congrats!!

So now that I am on my 9th month overall and working on my 7th month since my case was sent to the CSC for "faster processing." What is my next step? Sit here and keep waiting, or infopass, or letter to someone? Or am I not quite to that time yet? My field office, Tampa, says they are working on Jan 16, 2008 for the I-485, however, I was transfered to the CSC. CSC doesn't have a processing time for I-485s.
