  1. Hi,

my husband who doesn’t have French citizenship nor a « titre de séjour » entered France on 11 March.

on the form, he said he was a French citizen or partner of one and they let him go.

one advice : get a direct flight from the US to France so the customs authorities will verify the information and authorize boarding... my husband was denied boarding a flight with a layover in London.

    Happy to answer more questions.

    cheers!

    Hello Everyone,

Eventhough, our file was still "at NVC" on NVC's website... I have just received the interview email !!!

July 22nd in the morning at the Embassy in Paris.

I am very happy (of course) and anormally calm about it (I think I have not processed the news).

Going to book the doctor's appointment now.

    😋

Congrats !!!! Good luck for your preparation :)

    Hey Guys,

Who on this discussion is waiting for a sign from the Paris Embassy?

Just to have a clearer view of who is in the same situation than my husband and I 🤪

    Alix

    Hi!

got an RFE last week, and we are still working on uploading new documents...

so we'll hopefully be in the same situation soon ;)

did you gather any information about the reopening of the embassy?

    cheers!

    Hello Everyone,

    Hope you are well.

I am wondering what are the restrictions for US citizens (like my husband ;-)) to travel to France. He is planning to come over this summer (in August) and I am trying to find infos on the situation right now. I know it can evolve a great deal until August but it is quite difficult to have precise information about borders open or not, quaranteene or not, etc.

Does anyone have infos on that? Thank you guys,

    Take care,

    Alix

    Hi Alix,

my husband traveled from the US to France on 10 May. All went fine, except that he was denied boarding a flight with a layover in London and had another flight cancelled at the last minute, all related to COVID uncertainties.

Context : we are married, he is a US citizen and I live in France full time.

    My advice :

    - have all papers ready (marriage certificate, justificatif de domicile in France, copy of your passport)

    - book a direct flight from the US to France (any layover might result in him being denied boarding)

    - forced quarantine is not in place - it is only on a voluntary basis and can happen at home

The whole travel was really not bad (remember, this was when lockdown was still in place in France !!)

Let me know if you have any more question about it !

  5. Hi all!

since were are waiting for UCSIS or NVC to work on our cases (we finally sent all financial and civil documents a few days ago !!) or the embassy to reopen, do you know any interesting blogs/websites created by French people who moved to the US after they got married to an American or a PR? I'd love to gather more impressions of how things went for them... until it's our turn :)

    Thanks a lot!

    Hey Alix ,

    thank you 😊

i read a lot about when we arrive there but the problem is to reach Paris From Corsica.

we called the embassy earlier but they don’t know a lot about the attestation . They tell us to bring the one we have for now at each time we go outside but they are not sure at 100% that the « motif familial impérieux » is gonna be ok.

they told us to have a wedding certificate and my visa with us .

i just want to be sure to have everything to be able to travel from France to USA .
and then once we arrive there we will self quarantine .

it’s complicate and we have to go in may .

big hugs to you too 😗

    Hi !

Some say "motif familial impérieux" can hardly be questioned, but you never know...

My husband wants to come to France from the US - he French embassy in the US said he should travel with a marriage certificate, a copy of my ID, my "certificat de domicile" in France as well as the usual form that describes the reason why he is traveling ("motif familial impérieux").

Maybe you should also bring the proof that you have a place to self-isolate at in the US ?

    Good luck !!

  7. Trump signed his executive order :

" (b)  The suspension and limitation on entry pursuant to section 1 of this proclamation shall not apply to:

    ...

(iv)    any alien who is the spouse of a United States citizen "

    About Trump's latest announcement :

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/21/us/politics/coronavirus-trump-immigration-ban.html?referringSource=articleShare

    And quote from the article:

“Officials said on Tuesday that American citizens seeking to bring their children or spouses to the United States would still be allowed to do so.”

    🤞

    I do hope so!

From what I gathered, NVC is still working (we are still missing the affidavit of support).

But with embassies closed until further notice, who knows when they'll start scheduling interviews again... 😟

Have you read anything about that?

Forget about it - too much work to hide all the personal stuff 😉

    Hi !

Sorry you got an RFE!! :( I have sent my document to NVC last week, so I cannot really help...

I sent a "copie intégrale de l'acte de mariage", with all the little stars at the end of each line ***** and a blue colored stamp.

It is the form the mairie gave me after I requested a "copie de l'acte de mariage", not the one I received on the day we got married (which was slightly different).

    Is that what you sent?

Good luck with getting another one in these times of covid!

Hopefully the mairie will still be able to provide you with another one if you need it... 🤞

  10. Hi all!

New to the forum but we've been waiting for a while (I-130 sent on 15 October 2018...).

I am really not doing well with the quarantine, feeling really lonely and depressed, and we were thinking my husband could come to France.

He is not a permanent resident and does not have a visa for France - he is always coming as a tourist.

Has anyone done so in the past days/weeks since the lockdown has been declared?

After landing in Paris CDG, would he be able to go to Gare de l'Est and board a train to Strasbourg?

Would his travel be considered a "motif familial impérieux" or any other reason indicated on the official form issued by the French government?

Any advice would be great! Thanks!
