  1. Hi All, to cut a long story short, I got married overseas, applied for a K3 visa (similar to K1), arrived in the states and applied for AOS. I now have my biometrics appointment next week and am not sure what is required. From looking at some of the posts it seems they require my social security number but I haven't been issued one yet. Is this going to be a problem? What should I do?

    Thanks

  2. OK, so my wife was approved on a K3 visa and is now in the states with me (yay), but now we have to file these AOS documents and we are having a lot of difficulty with filling in the forms. If any of you could help out with our questions it would be greatly appreciated :)

    1) G-325A - what is the File Number? Where can I find it? I have found a number on the I-94 form on the visa that has an A number on it. Is that it or is it the A number found on the approval notice from USCIS??

    2) I-485 - What is the current USCIS status? Is it K3 Non immigrant?

    - What is the A#?

    - What is the non-immigrant visa number? Where can I find this?

    - What status did my wife enter as? Would it be non-immigrant? (i know these qus must seem silly but im being very pedantic)

    3) I-765 - Again, this "A#" please let me know which one it is

    4) I-864 - In Part 5 of the document I need to know how to fill this out, its very confusing... It asks "persons sponsoring in this affidavit", i pressume i put 1 in. Then the next question is "persons not sponsored in this affidavit", do I leave all these boxes blank except the 'yourself' box? SO that would leave a total of 2?

I hope someone out there can help me, esp re this whole "A #" thing! I know these questions may be silly but I really don't want to get it wrong and later get one of those dreaded RFI's!!

    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

    Hi...

I would guess that the file number you are talking about is her alien number. You can find it on the visa in her passport. I came in on a K-1 visa, and my alien number was in my passport on the visa they put in. That's the only # that starts with an A... But I'm not sure about that!!!!!!

I believe that K3 is a non immigrant visa... that's what I found on uscis.gov... How Do I Become a K-Nonimmigrant as the Spouse or Child of a U.S. Citizen? (K-3 and K-4 Visa Classifications)

The non-immigrant visa number (this title already tells you that this typ of visa is a nonimmigrant...) is also on the visa that was put into her passport.

The status she last entered the US would be as a K-3 Visa holder (in my case I put K-1 Visa holder)

In I-864 you have to put the number 1 for question 21 a and a number 1 for question 21 a. That makes 2 people in your household. If you have kids or somebody else living with you you have to put them into the proper line, for kids 21 d, for other dependents 21 e.

When you open her passport with the visa in it, you'll see from the top to the bottom... Issuing post name, surname, given name, passport number, entries, annotations... under that word it should say petition #, to the right of the pettition number you'll find you A#, which is the alien number.

I hope I could help you somehow, but as I said, I'm not sure about the nonimmigrant stuff.

Good luck to you guys... oh, and there is no silly questions!!!!!! that's why we all are here for, to learn more!!!!! ;)

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to me! It has been really helpful :)

Wow Congratulations to the both of you - you must be soooo happy!!!!!

I got goose bumps reading that you will have her in your arms when you return from Iraq.... That is a gift worth comming home to!!!!!!

I couldn't take it anymore... I am going to visit my husband! Leaving on the 19th July from South Africa.. It is only for two weeks but that will keep me going until my papers are finally processed....

    I cant wait!!!

Hopefully it will not be long from when I return and then my daughter and I will be reunited with my husband to!!!

Well good luck and again - Congrtulations!!!!

Thank you so much :) She's got her interview tomorrow, so fingers crossed it all goes well.

I hope your approval comes fast and that you have an awesome time on holiday!!

  5. I just called to find out whats going on.... well I called twice.. and the answer was the same...The Lady does not even know , that the California Service center has a problem with the system ...I could not get any informations out from her... mayby I still called the wrong number. I need the number from the california service center. who can help...with the details. I really wanna call to find out whats going on.Thank you.

There is no direct number for the California Service Center. It was disconnected a while ago. The 1800 number is the only number to call. Trust me, I have searched everywhere for a direct number and it doesn't exist!! The problem with the 1800 number is that the call operators are usually contract workers who have no knowledge of visas...My only suggestion is to get an infopass appointment. HOwever if you were like me and are overseas, theres nothing you can do except sit tight............Also, everytime you call the 1800 number they record it on your file, so you should try to call as little as possible... Sorry to be the bearer of bad news......

  6. Look at my timeline.

Congratulation!!! So it took 16 days after the last touch on your cases?? I went to Local USCIS office through info pass once again, and the officer told me she spoke to the VSC office and they said something can be expected at the end of this week, and it's already tuesday I found no touch on my case yet...and tomorrow is holiday then only 2 days left... so I guess that was something like sympathy!!!! :crying: :crying:

Same here. Ours was touched then nothing for a week until we got an email of approval (but it had actually been approved the week before!!) So there is still hope. Good luck.

  7. Its the only number to call unfortunately. All the direct numbers to service centers have been disconnected..... To make it worse, the people normally on that 1800 number are contractors and have no clue about details of visa processing. Just rely on your online case status. Its the most reliable piece of info you can get...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news  Hang in there

I have just read alot of posts where the VJ'ers have been receiving their package 3 without the Case Status Online even changing...

I guess that would be a bonus "Nothing lost".

It would just really be nice to get through to someone who can tell me if my papers are ok as we had an issue initially with the cheques....

Oh well cant help but Wishfull Thinking!!!

I just hope I get to my hubby before they decide on deporting him.

I have actually heard of that too. If you want to keep trying to call I think they operate on east coast time. So that would mean it would be 6am i think? Try to call them in a couple of hours. If the person you are talking to is hopeless and you are not in the states at the moment, tell him/her that you have an urgent situation and you can't make an infopass appointment coz u are overseas and you need to chase up the status of your case. Once I said this to the call operator and she put me through to someone else. However i was put on hold for 50 minutes and she didnt end up telling me anything worthwhile anyway... Try though, you never know your luck!

Looking at my NOA1 for my I-130 it was received in March therefore I would probably be a March filer then... Ah man this is all to technical for me... Well I will just be an April filer and just hope for the best then....

Soldiers Story - Thanks for that I really appreciate it! I will give annother try - Heck I have nothing else better to do with my time!!!

Ya i know how you feel, the whole process is so frustrating! I hope you get through on the phone :)

  10. After searching through the forum it appears some Febuary filers are still waiting for their NOA2 approvals and most of the March filers are still waiting.

Anyone with some good news on receiving NOAs?

We are March filers and are still yet to receive an approval AND we have applied for an expedite request! There are quite a few rumours in the March thread which speculate why the delays are occurring. Some say because of the transfer to electronic system, some say because of a delay in transferring cases to the CSC and some say because of lack of staff either due to the increased need for staff on passport services or because of holidays... All reasons seem plausible and it could even be a combination of all of the above factors... We all just gotta hang in there and hope for the best! Heres to hoping that they start churning through our applications asap

  11. Join us to the list. I have no idea whats happening and uscis are useless when we call to find out whats happening. We have so many touches, but no approval!!! SO frustrating!

Hey! Thanks for replying. Definitly feeling your pain. You're luck to even have touches. We dont. Not since April. I know how you feel, i'm actually in the Air Force and i've been here in california for a year and a half now working/training/flying. And my husband is all the way in the Philippines.

Im pretty sure your expedited request will be approved. That is actually one of the requirements. You are very lucky.

Good luck, Take care over there in the desert and God bless you both.

Thanks so much! I hope you get approved asap too!!

We only found out about the expediting last week, so im not sure if it will make a difference now, but we'll see i guess.

    Good luck :)
