  1. Do I belong here? My fiance sent the I-129F on May 29 this year and received the NOA1 on June 1. Does this still make me a May CSC filer?

Yes, its up to you. But Jauque has a point. If you stick with the June 09 filers you will be the first to get your NOA2. I am actually going to be one of the last ones to recieve my NOA2. I would love to have more company :). You are welcome to join us. The more the marrier :). Welcome to our group. The decision is yours.

I would join the June 2009 Filers...

  2. I actually have the same problem. I have not gathered all my documents yet and one of my police certificates will only arrive in three months time and I am expecting my Packet 3 this week, as promised by the embassy. Worried about the delay to return my checklist, I wrote to the embassy and they told me this:

"There is no time period to submit the checklist but you have to do it immediately after gathering all your required documents."

Therefore I suggest that you should let the embassy know of your situation and apply for extension of your NoA 2. NoA 2 has four months of validity.

    Good luck!

We received the NOA2 notice December 14th, so that would imply that my fiancé' would have to return the packet 3 forms (required forms + copy of Passport) back to the Embassy by April 14th. That would work, then they would schedule for an interview, at which time we can request for an delay in entry.

On the other hand it would be better to ask for an extension of the NOA2 from April14 say September 14th. Has anyone here requested for an extension of the NOA2. Would like to know how that process went. Any advise is greatly appreciated. thanks CG.

  3. Hello Everyone,

I have had a smooth sailing so far...but now I have a snag, but it is not with the Embassy. My fiance' got her Packet 3 from the Brazilian Embassy in January, but because of property settlement issues she won't be able to leave for the US until October of this year. She has yet to apply for the K-1 visa, we thought we would wait for a few months until she applies, so that October will fall within the 6 month window, after visa issuance, that she need to leave for the US. The questions is can she wait 4 or 5 months before she applies for the K-1 Visa...does it expire? I would hate to start this whole process with the INS here in the US again. Or should she just apply and then advise the Visa Office of her desire to leave later in October. Please advise, I just don't know which way to proceed.

    Thanks much,

    CG

  4. Hello geordielover and everyone,

I thought I would have to wait 3 to 4 weeks before I hear from the NVC, but today in the mail I got a letter from the NVC in Portsmouth, NH and it states:

    Dear Petitioner:

The State Department's National Visa Center has recently received an approved I-129F petition filed on behalf of your fiance' This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place.

then it goes on to names who the petition is for and gives the

    INS Receipt Number EAC##########

    and a Case Number RDJ##########

This case will be processed at RIO De Janeiro

Then it goes on to say..Your Fiance will soon receive a packet with instruction from the consular section on how to apply for the K1 Visa at that post and what documents will be required.

    Sincerely,

    Bureau of Consular Affairs.

I was quite surprised to get this letter so quickly. I think the National Visa Center is very efficient when it receives approved K-1 petitions...at least that is my experience. Are other who received their NOA2 getting this type of letter?

Well I am tickled pink!

  5. Congratulations are in order to everyone on this thread who has gotten notification of approval and I hope the remaining ones will be here shortly. I had called USCIS to change my address in October, and I wasn't sure if I will get the NOA2 by mail, to the new address. Ans so I called USCIS today to verify my change of address, but the agent Helen wasn't very helpful about the address verification...she said that she does not have that info.

Anyway this evening, the hard copy was in my mail box, It was beyond belief! It actually worked, I was indeed surprised to see that the address change actually went thru.

A brief question, Under the Notice Type: it says that the Approval Notice is valid from 12/6/2007 to 4/6/2008. Not quite sure what this means, as it is not a visa? Does this mean that my fiancee will need to submit all her documentation to the Embassy before that date? Any help in making me understand this is greatly appreciated. :help:

    Thanks,

    Cliff

  6. Great Congratulation to StillThePrettiest and everyone in July who has gotten NOA2 so far. I too was approved yesterday, got the email early this morning!    Yes, I was complaining about not hearing anything, not even a touch...then bang I am approved. No touches, no RFEs nothing before my approval. All I can say is that I am soooo gald that I had VJ to guide me during my application process, I followed all the recommendation on VJ to a T. I think without this site I would have had many RFEs. Thanks to the folks to created this site and manage it. Also I must add that the timelines are quite accurate too. I had tears of joy, which is not what I expected on reading my email, but then I too felt very calm. Now I have to start thinking about my next step in the process. Have a nice weekend.

  7. Congratulations to all who have received their NOA-2s. I am hoping mine will be approved next week. I am in Kuwait on assignment at the moment and can't seem to access the USCIS site from the hotel, it is blocked. I wonder if anyone else out here has had a similar problem. Are Proxy servers being blocked by USCIS?

I hope I get an email with some good news soon. I am very hopeful!

  8. Thanks to Debz for adding me to the the list. I have mostly been in the backbround, reading lots of posts and getting to know the dyanmics here on this thread and other Forums. I have gotten such great info on VJ and am so gald I learned about VJ before I filed From 129F. I just know that a slew of July filers will get their NOA2 in the next two weeks. It just so happens that I have to go to Kuwait on assigment for a couple of weeks, just when my petition will be reviewed. I just hope that I don't get any RFEs, as I will not be able to get to them unitl I return from the desert kingdom. I was hoping that my Honey will be here from Brazil before December, so that I can claim one additional dependent and lower my taxes...guess I will have to wait for 2008. Anyway Congratulations to those CSC July filers.

  9. When I filed for my K-1 in July, I was living in an Apartment. In October I moved to a town home that I purchased and called USCIS to change my address. To date (Nov. 19th) I have had no confirmation by mail that they have updated their files with my new address. According to VJ my petition should be adjudicated some time in the end of December. So because, I will be on business travel for a few weeks after Thanksgiving, I called USCIS today verify my address change request and the woman told me that there is no way for her to verify my change of address over the phone as she does not have access to that information. Instead, she said that I should be getting a letter in the mail within 45 days of my request, confirming the change of address. Then in passing I told her perhaps I should notify the US Post office to reroute my mail to the new address, and she told me that USPS does not/will not reroute Official US Government mail, and that it is simply returned. unbelievable!

My problem is that before these 45 days, my petition should be adjudicated. Now I have to sit and worry where my NOA2 notice will be mailed to...hopefully to my new address. The best thing I can do is cross my fingers and hope the address change took place. Has anyone here had a similar experience? And if so, please give me some assurance that perhaps hope that the new address will be used when USCIS communicates with me in writing. Thank you.

  10. I don't think the officers care to read what we have to say on this site. It is just a job and they have other interests they like to pursue after hours, just like each one of us have and do. But make no mistake about it, there are other in the Homeland Security Bureaue, who is tasked to search and read sites like our, and provide short synapses to the Managment, so they are aware of things.

Most probably one of the reasons for the increase in the K-1 processing fee is to defray the cost of Security and background checks on each one of us (USC). This background infomation is gathered by privite companies and are not cheap to the US Goverment..yes, they too have to pay for this infomation...it keep the economy going. Information is power! Don't you agree!
