  1. My mom got approved for her immigration visa. I’m looking to buy her ticket and if i’m not mistaken i need to buy a round trip because US border control has the ultimate say so when she arrives right? Or can i just buy a one way?
  2. we’re starting the next leg of this long journey and mom now has an appt at the local US Embassy scheduled. The email that was sent mentioned an MRV fee. I can’t seem to find out how much -if any?- this fee is for an IR-5 visa. i see every other type of visa mentioned for the fee but no IR Visa types.
  3. my wife is the sponsor but is at basic training, so yes it’s an IR5, for my mother in law. I’m keeping fingers crossed I can get her here by her graduation.
  4. sorry, it’s been so long i don’t remember.. My mother in law has received the letter from the embassy saying it’s time to get ready for her interview and to get the medical at st lukes, (scheduled for later this month) but do we need to do anything to initiate the visa interview appointment or will that happen after the medical? thank you
  5. 5 in the house 6 counting the intended immigrant. i’d rather not state specific income level but my income is above the 125% threshold for 6 people per the latest guidelines. I DCF’d my spouse (who is now sponsoring her mom). Other than my wife, no I haven’t sponsored another immigrant/family member. I ended up submitting a i864 yesterday as a joint sponsor. i just don’t understand because that’s what i did originally and they kicked it back and said i needed to be a household member. so we did all the paperwork as they requested, then submitted and now i’ve added myself as a joint sponsor (again) and submitted the i864 with me checking “i am the only joint sponsor”. they’ve now approved me as a joint sponsor, so i guess it was the right choice. but they haven’t looked at the newly uploaded documents so i’m just guessing at this point.
  6. Hi Vj community, just wanted to check in and see if anyone has insight on this? again, my wife is sponsoring her mother. i am listed as a household member on the i-864a and my finances meet the minimum requirements for our household size and to bring her mom in. I’m contemplating submitting an additional i-864 on my part but maybe it isn’t needed? Any guidance is greatly appreciated. thanks.
  7. Hello, My SO is in the process of immigrating her mother. We received the following message: "This case does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p." My SO (the sponsor) does not earn enough money as she's in college. I am listed as a household member in the application process and my finances are submitted along with I-864A. Do i need to also submit an I-864?? Initially when we filed we tried adding me as a joint sponsor but that was denied and they said I needed to be added as a household member. So they've now accepted all the paperwork but are saying this about income requirements and to add an additional I-864. Is this just a typical message they send and the Consular officer will see my documents at the interview? I want to make sure we have all our things in order and this worries me.
