I believe there is a limit on the number of visas the embassy releases for green card holders.

Thank you for the response! They are DQ-ed and current and the only thing they are waiting for is the interview.

So we were just wondering if anyone else current got approved from the embassy and their timeline! Just so they have an idea. They have been waiting for the interview for a year and a half almost. :(

Hello everyone, shpresoj te jeni mire haha

Nice to see this many albanians on his site, this is the first such topic I come accross, thank you all for the valuable information you've posted!

Me and my fiance are on the K-1 route. I figure it's similar in priority to CR1. The Tirane Embassy makes me nervous

If you all wouldn't mind, can I know your start to finish timelines?

I am hanging on to the hope that my timeline will be under one year, but I am not so sure these days. (I am 5 months waiting for NOA 2) Some of you had many problems, some had it easy from what I remember reading,

    Please let me know, thanks!

Hey!  Good luck with your journey!

Mine lasted forever(like almost 2 years) because of covid but I also had a spousal visa and the fiance visa you seem to have, they are done much quicker. Also the embassy is working right now so, fingers crossed, you should be much quicker than the rest of us!

Hi @DAgg @DAgg @At175 @shosholala  Quick question, as our interview is coming up soon, we are getting ready to mail our documents to the embassy, did you all have to mail the original wet ink Affidavit of support (I-864)  to the embassy or was just a copy sufficient?

I mailed a copy as well but I took the original with me in the interview. They didn't ask for it, but I just wanted to make sure I had it. Good luck!!

@At175 How did the consular officer mention to you that your visa got approved? Did they tell you after your interview that your visa is approved and it will be sent to your local DHL in about 2 weeks time? Also are they rude there? Do you think that your visa is already approved before you get to the interview considering you will be sending in your documents 2 weeks prior so they can double check everything? THANK YOU @At175 you're the best!!!

She just said your visa is approved and it will arrive between 2 and 3 weeks!

No they aren't rude at all. They are very professional.

I honestly don't know. I've heard they already have an idea if you are going to be approved or not before the interview, but that's what I've read on the internet. I have no idea otherwise. Also even if you don't mail the documents, they already have them anyways, because you have to upload them on CEAC. Have you received that email yet telling you that you need to do that?

@At175 You made my day by replying thank you again! 😊

When you send your documents via post to the embassy, do you recommend a shipping company Posta Shqiptare or DHL? Did they give you a tracking number for you to verify your post got delivered? Also, did you have to send the original i864 documents via post or is it not needed as the embassy should have that on file already from NVC? Because I read online that whatever documents you send via post, you will get the originals back and the embassy will keep copies.

Last question and I want to thank you one more time. What did you bring to the actual interview itself? Your visa interview letter, passport, 2 photos, and was there anything else that helped you in your interview?

I'm very happy for you and your spouse!  Thank you so so much for your responses and your help you don't know how much better I feel with your guidance!

So, I used DhL, that's what the embassy recommended using. The person working at the DHL at least in my town, they knew exactly how it worked, because they do this all the time. They gave me a tracking number, and it literally arrived at the embassy that same day I mailed them. One thing to keep in mind, the embassy asks you to mail the documents 2 weeks in advance. I read that if you are sending them between 14 days and 11 days in advance you are fine but further than that, then just bring them with you and don't mail them.

So, the i-864, I mailed a copy to the embassy and then I brought the original with me, because my husband hadn't mailed it yet when I mailed the documents. But they didnt even ask me for my original at the interview. However, I think it's better to have the original with you just in case.

So, what I did, I mailed everything they asked for 2 weeks prior and then made a copy of everything I mailed and brought the copies plus the original i-864 with me at the interview, just in case. I was being too careful.

Honestly i dont know what helped me! Haha I was extremely nervous so I don't know what advice to give you there.

Thank you for the kind words! You will do great!!

Hey @DAgg @At175 How was your guys interviews? Did they ask tough questions at the embassy? I look forward to your replies! Thanks!

Hey they asked me how I met my husband and like what job he did; if he ever came to Albania.

Then, because I had been in US before, they asked me couple questions about my stay there.

Good luck in your interview!! Let me know if you need anything else! :)

@DAgg @At175 @shosholala Did you submit your documents via post to the embassy 2 weeks prior to your interview? Or are we allowed to bring them with us to the interview? Did you register for your medical exactly 3 weeks prior to your interview date or were you allowed to register ahead of that time like a month prior?

You can do either way, either mail them or bring them with you. Honestly, I'd recommend mailing them just because it was faster going thru the documents at the window since they had everything already.

You are allowed to register for the medical prior than 3 weeks before, it doesn't really matter I think.

Yes, you complete the form exactly 3 weeks before the interview. Any Luck registering the appointment and for DHL online? Mine says ‘Case not ready to be scheduled for interview’?

Or maybe they are catching up quickly.

I have not tried yet to register it. It says in there to write the DS-260 number. I can't seem to figure out where I can find that. Where did you guys find it?

So @DAgg does that mean that the Albanian embassy is scheduling your DQ date of September now for the month of August, if my understanding is correct? Also, @shosholala you are DQ in December. Did your interview get scheduled because of your successful expedite or was it because they are processing December DQ dates for August as well? I also want to submit an expedite as well for medical reasons for my spouse. Did you submit a letter from a doctor and an evaluation with your expedite request? Thanks for all your guys help!

I think you should be soon as well! Fingers crossed 🤞I heard a lot of other people getting scheduled for August. So I am guessing they are picking it up now?

I don't understand how they went from 100 IR1/CR1 visas in March to just 4 in May ... are you all in Albania? Does anyone have any information about is going on at the embassy? I am awaiting my interview in the US ....

I am in Albania, i have no information at all. I have tried contacting other Albanians with interviews but I know nobody. No success at all.

Unbelievable! 1 interview per day for the whole month??? @At175@shosholala@DAgg

Actually it's even worse. It's 2, not 4. My understanding is that the PDF by post shows how many visas the embassy issued. The PDF with Albania (by country of birth) is based on the country of birth. This is just saying how many people who were born in Albania got the visa. They could have gotten it in another embassy. If you see the other pdf, you will see Tirana embassy did only 2 visas for spousal on may. :( I dont even know what to think anymore.

For those who are still wondering, it might be worth submitting an expedite request if you have a pending job offer in the US. The HK consulate approved my request 1 day after I sent in the transfer offer letter from my HR department, though it took NVC 1 month to forward the request to the consulate (and we also had our senator office to chase NVC)…

    That's awesome! Congratulations!!

Does the immigrant have a pending job in the US in your case? because I ( the immigrant) have one and I applied for an expedite and they refused it. 😞

    Hey,

A friend of mine was called for an interview after His case had stayed at the embassy for only a week. He was a K1 visa applicant.
At the medical exam he said there were a lot of people waiting in line, but almost all were from the family preference or K1 visa category.
it makes me think they have put a pause on spousal visas and scheduling other categories to catch up.

Also, I wonder what the numbers will look like this month. God I really really hope this is not true!

Wow that's crazy! Maybe I don't want to believe it but I just find this crazy to do. First because they started processing K1 the same time they started spousal visas, and to me if they stopped spousal visas they would stop K1 visas as well.

Secondly, I watched this YouTube video where this NVC guy was talking and he said they are focusing on family reunification, meaning IR (so immediate relatives: sons, parents, and spouses) and fiancee visas are getting priority.

I don't know though, with how long it is taking for us, you might be right. I wonder if NVC would give us some more information on this if we called them.
