  1. Hello everyone, Hope you and your families are all safe and well during these scary times. I apologize if this question is not in the correct place but looking for some insight or direction. My husband and I were lucky to get an appointment at our local Social Security Administration yesterday(we had been on a list for about a month). When they input his information, specifically his K-1 visa number they were unable to verify the document with USCIS so we were given a letter stating that the verification of documents provided would take up to four weeks and that they would get back to us with an update on if he would be issued a SSN. He had a bit of an issue at the port of entry (they lost his documents from the embassy and were very frazzled) so I'm wondering if this hiccup could be related to that.

I also had an AOS question and have not been able to find the answer among the other boards. We are filing I-485, I-131, and I-765 concurrently along with I-864 and I-944. I am very confused regarding the fee schedule. I called USCIS to verify and spoke to two representatives, both said that with concurrent filing I would just have to pay the I-485 fee plus the biometrics for a total of $1,225.00. I asked about the October 2nd changes and they said they never went into effect. I had read here (but cannot find where I read this) that the fees had gone up and needed to be paid separately for these forms. Any help or guidance is immensely appreciated!

I'm glad he made it to your arms. BTW, the immigration agent was giving him a test on the wife/fiancé answer. Since your fiancé chose the correct answer he was on his way to you. If he had answered wife, he would have been on his way back home.

Next steps are to get an SSN before you marry. It will save you a lot of headaches after the marriage. Also, to view the AOS process use the "guide" tab in the blue ribbon at the top of this page and seek out AOS. Good luck and stay engaged.

So am I😍 Thank you!! I figured so too he said they were just soo flustered trying to find his packet.

Can I ask what is the difference of applying for your social now vs after? We were looking to get legally married asap so we can file AOS and hopefully visit his family this summer. Would filing for an SSN now cause us to have to wait to file AOS? Not sure how long that process takes. EDIT: Oops just seeing your link above reading that now!

Thank you for all your help!

  3. Hi all!

Hope everyone is staying safe and well during this scary and unprecedented time! My fiance was granted an emergency interview at the Macedonian embassy in October. I had written a letter to my local representative and our initial request was denied. The embassy then randomly called my fiance granting him an interview jus two days after the call they told him he had to get his medical the next day and emailed him a list of documents to gather. That morning (before the embassy called) I had booked a month long trip to Macedonia after not seeing each other for 9 months. We scrambled to gather all of the documentation his interview went easily and swiftly they did not tell him he was approved took his passport but didn't give him a 221g (I think it is called) and told him not to travel through any Schengen countries. Three days later we received notification from DHL that a package was ready for pickup. The visa was issued. He arrived lastnight at JFK!! I hope and pray you all reach the end of this heart wrenching journey soon!

His experience passing through JFK was very interesting they took his finger prints and the packets the embassy gave him (they gave him two) asked him to have a seat. He waited an hour and half and an officer came over and asked him where his documents were. He explained that he gave them to the first officer. They were scrambling to find them and eventually did. The officer was very flustered and held up a photo of me and asked him is this your wife? He replied that is my fiance. The officer replied oh yes right and then said you have 90 days to get married stamped his passport and said he was free to go. I thought they were giving him a document for the adjustment of status process but all he got was the stamp on his passport near the visa.

If anyone would be so kind to please link a resource for next steps it would be soo appreciated because I was trying to prepare before he arrived and I was confused about the fees and the concurrent filing of the forms.

Thank you all immensely for your help on this journey and best of luck to you all!

The Australian government is being so frustrating. The exemption to leave are really frustrating. I have applied and not yet heard back. The flight I put in leaves in less than 24 hours. I have shown proof of canceling everything including where I live and shipping it. As well as my fiances health. Due to this they escalated it to the people who confirm or deny but they said there's no guarantee I will even hear back. Really stressed as I bought our tickets for $800USD and now all tickets seem to be around $3700USD.

    hi there

curious to see how your experience went. Did you have any issues upon entry with DHS? Hope it all went well!!

  5. I just received my case number today!!

@GreenbaumI'm sorry If this is a redundant question but I am wondering if we can start the DS-160 without the P3 I have the case number and invoice number. The NVC rep told me today our case will be on the way to the embassy in a few days. You didn't have a copy of the Macedonian P3 and I'm wondering if based on other P3's should we start the DS160 now or wait until we receive our P3. Sorry if any of this is covered in the google doc I read it but still unclear on this. Also will definitely send you a copy of the Macedonian P3 for future cases once I receive it.

    Thanks so much!!
