  1. Hello all.

Thanks for answering my questions so far. I just wanted to mention, that all the questions I asked in my posts are hypotheticals. The only fact right now is that I am waiting for an interview date with the consulate in Montreal.

That said, my spouse initially put through my application while they were in the US. Their residence was, of course, the US. They then came to Canada while the application was being processed in February 2020. They got a Canadian work permit and a job here, as we had a baby. It is not with a US organization, or anything special. They just got a job at a Warehouse. They are still here, though, and they are still working. But they have maintained their presence in the US, for example, they did their 2019 US taxes, maintained their US bank accounts, registered to vote, etc. Our documents were DQ August 2020.

As of June 2020, we will be married for two years. If they are still in Canada whether it is before our two year mark, or after the two year mark, will my spouse being in Canada during my interview with the US consulate be an issue?

    Thank you so much.

  2. I think I understand what this means. It sounds like this says, it's not the date of the interview, but the date that we cross into the US. So, if I do the interview April 2021, but enter the US in July 2021, even if our wedding anniversary is June 2021, there will not be conditions.

I appreciate the options. Someone else also mentioned that I can cross into the US and come back. As long as I don't have to cross until After June 2021, then I am happy with the informative answers. They are extremely helpful. I will admit that I am crossing my fingers that I don't have to get the interview before Spring 2021, but we will cross that bridge when we get there.

    Thank you to everyone!

  3. Hello,

My documents were DQ from the NVC in August 2020. I am a Canadian citizen waiting for a consulate interview @ Montreal. I am in a very strict lease in my apartment AND an employment contract here in Ontario until July 2021. It would be so much better to transition to US after my lease and work contract end in July 2021. My spouse (An American citizen) agrees it is better to go after July 2021. If the consulate contacts me about an interview between January 2021 and June 2021, can I ask them to schedule me after July 2021? What is the process when they contact me?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Hello,

My spouse (an American citizen) got married on June 2019. I am a Canadian Citizen. We have child that got their born abroad US citizenship documents while here in Canada. We submitted my application for US permanent residence from abroad on February 2020. Our documents were qualified in August 2020. We are now waiting for a consulate interview.

If I do the interview at the Montreal consulate on August 2021, and move to the US in September 2021, would I still have a two year conditional permanent residence?

    Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi,

    I have a quick question.

The petitioner had a job when they filled out the financial affidavit for support (i864). They submitted all the documents to petition for their spouse to receive an immigrant visa and the application has been approved so far. The application successfully went through NVC processing and all the documents were qualified. The petitioner had lost their job due to COVID. Now,  the primary applicant has an interview scheduled at the consular office,  and the petitioner, gets a new job that pays more. What is the process to take once the petitioner gets a new job. Do they have to fill out a new i864, or does the primary applicant bring a copy of the petitioner's job letter to the interview along with a copy of the initial i864.

    Thank so much
