  1. Thanks for the response. She is from the Philippines! I am not quiet sure what is her VISA type. She heard that she is allowed to stay for a month but not allowed to apply for green card.

    Hi my sister works in a cruise ship and we would like her to stay for a month or two while her contract expires. Does anyone have any knowledge on what to do so she can stay here in the US for the meantime??

    Joint Sponsor is a term you will find in the INA, co-sponsor is a term you will find on VJ.

    In immigration terms, a person who lives in the same household is a Household Member. Your mother-in-law does not fit the definition of a Household Member, she could be a Joint Sponsor.

    is joint sponsor the same with co sponsor? what forms are needed to fill up? does the co sponsor needs to live within the same household? my mother in law who lives in the other state will be our co sponsor. is it ok? we used her as a co sponsor during our K1 visa process.

    thank you for the info. What kind of form does she needs to fill out and what documents she needs to pass?
