  1. My stepson was recently documentarily qualified with NVC. We are now awaiting an interview date. I know that that this is not a fast process because I went through this process with my husband not long ago. I was however curious of anyone recent experience though. He will be interviewed through the Nigerian embassy in Lagos. Any ideas of what the wait time on an interview with the embassy currently is? He is only 6 and currently staying with his uncle because his mother passed away last year. We want him hear as soon as possible but know we also have to use patience.

    Thanks!

  2. I went on USCIS to check the status of my case today. When I look at the processing time, it now says, " Your case is taking longer than expected to process. You do not need to take any action at this time". Last month it said 7 months. My questions are, does this mean it will take longer the the 7 months?  Has anyone ever experieced this , how much longer did it take?

  3. My husband is Nigerian and has been in the US for over 2 years. He has a 7 year old son in Nigeria and last year the child’s mother passed away and we have petitioned for him to come to the US. We recently tried expediting it but it was denied. The only thing we could think of is that we didn’t have the death certificate of his mother. My husband ‘s family in Nigeria are trying to get this but we don’t have it yet. Has anyone gone through anything similar. We’re hoping we don’t have to wait for the regular I 130 track.

  4. I definitely hear you pushbrk. That's my concern because they didn't clarify if they simply don't have my marriage certificate or if there is some pertinent[l1]  information missing from it.  It just says the following about the certificate of marriage:

"Submit a photocopy of the original marriage certificate for the marriage of XXXXX and XXXX. The marriage certificate must be issued by an appropriate civil authority. In order for the marriage to be considered valid for immigration purposes, it must have been legally valid in the location where the marriage took place. The document must include the date of registration and signature of the registrar".

Our marriage certificate meets the requirements. I just don't want to make any assumptions. 😖

  5. I just got notified by USCIS that the they need more documentation to submit my form. The only requested document is the certificate of marriage. My only concern is that I submitted this with my packet initially. Could it have gotten misplaced by USCIS? If there was something wrong with the marriage certificate I sent would they have specifically said what the issue is? Since I only have one chance to submit this proof, I just wanted to make sure?
