  1. A good estimate is about 2 months and I think they have already scheduled all the March interviews and I would look at late April or early May.

YES, I would drop off the DS230 instead of waiting on pkt3. The embassy is known not to get the pkt 3 to you and you will have to call the embassy to schedule an appointment to drop the form off and you will have to wait until the embassy gets paperwork from NVC before you can do that

  2. Wanted to start a thread for Jamaica VJ'ers who are about to be scheduled an interview or who has been scheduled an interview in Jamaica.

My SO talked to the embassy on 1-21-08 and they told her that we would have an interview scheduled by late Feb. or early March. But still no word yet.

Has anyone been scheduled an interview yet for the months of Feb., March, or even April?

    Hey J.,

I called the embassy on Monday and they told me pretty much the same thing. They are very behind, but all late feb. Early March interviews should be scheduled by next week the LATEST!!!! I am at my wits end at this point!! I just want a date so I can book my fare and GET ON WITH IT!!!!

    Bless-ed,

    Gill

P.S- Let's keep in touch...it looks like we will be scheduled around the same time!! If I hear anything I will tell you...you hear anything PM mi...Zeen?

I will keep in touch....lets pray that we both get scheduled by next week and have our loved ones here by early March.

thanks...hope this helps out...because I know its hard to to talk to your soul mate

It's 0.36 cents for Jamaica mobile, which is double what I pay with the Sprint international calling cards

JATam - I wish there was an unlimited calling plan for us Floridians :crying:

I call my wife's mobile (digicel) and it only charges me 0.15 cents per min. I just checked my billing summary

  5. My wife called the embassy today and they let her talk to someone. They told her that they will put our case in the batch for next scheduled interviews. They told her we should have an interview by Feb or no later than early March. Just wanted to share the good news, I am getting excited, I want to see my baby!

  6. I need some advice.....

Look at mt time-line and you can see the frustration. My wife (who is jamaicn) dropped off the 230 form on Dec. 27th and we still have not heard anything. Seems like the embassy in not organized at all. Should i call to see if they have scheduled an interview date yet? If so what is the best number to call?

Also, we still haven't gotten a passport for her daughter yet....how long does it take to get one?

  7. I am white and my wife is Jamaican. She is still in Jamaica and has not been to the US as of now, but I have spent alot of time in Jamaica and I think the people there are very wonderful people (most of them). Her family is very supportive and loving and has no problem that i am white. BUT, there are some (ok alot) of racial men in Jamaica. I had to learn quick to just ignore them and smile at them as I held my wife close to me. They made many remarks like white man, why you with a white man, and they would tell my wife that no white man can please like a Jamaican man (they could be right, but my wife thinks different, she is very happy in all depts.)

As for my family, they are very supportive and can't wait to meet her (except for 1 aunt who laughed at me, but i don't even speak to her anymore -- its her ignorance not mine). My church which is 95% white are very supportive and anxious to meet her as well. (which brings up a point -- We all serve the same God, so it does'nt matter in His eyes, so we should not worry about what others think)

  8. Good News! Yesterday I called USCIS (1st time calling) but all I got was a generic answer like everyone else. Well today I checked my e-mail and got 2 e-mails from CHRIS. It was 2 APPROVALS, the I-130 and I-129f.

Hopefully my wife will be here by Christmas. Does any one know what the estimated time for my paperwork to get to the embassy is?

G&A: Thanks for your chart is was exact!!

  9. My first trip ever to JA was in March 05. I went there on a mission trip to Morant Bay. I went to Spring Garden church and met a young girl (my sister in law) there. Then I went back on another mission trip in Feb. 06 and the young girl I met the previous year, brought her sister there to meet me. The next day me and her sister hung out until I left 2 days later. We talked just about every other day. Then I went again on another mission trip in Mar. 07. The third day i was there, i asked marla to marry me and she said yes and we got married the day before i had to leave. leaving was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I have been back since our marriage and i plan on returning next month.

We fell in love fast but i know it all was from God.
