    Hi everyone.

My N-400 interview is originally scheduled on March but it was de scheduled because of COVID. It was rescheduled on August 12, 2019 below is the story of how my interview went (this was posted on another thread):

WOW it was a long day basically spent the whole afternoon at USCIS. We got there at 12 noon and there’s no line to get in. My husband came with me. The waiting room is full so we waited outside but they didn’t  let me husband in so waited for me at the lobby. I was called around 1:30pm and I asked the IO if she needs my husband. She answered yes and she let me call him. He waited in the waiting room this time. First she conducted the N-400 it is very easy and passed 100%. So we moved on to I-751 and I sworn in etc. I brought recent bills, tax return etc and handed it all to her. Then the questioning started it was very long!! I was there till 3:30 then it was my husband’s turn and he’s interviewed for almost an hour. We’re both very hungry and thirsty also we’re the one of the last group of people to leave there. They’re just checking bonafide marriage. How we met? Who propose? How many marriages? If my husband has any tattoos, marks? What do we like to do together and so on. I was not prepared for this type of questioning but my husband and I had nothing to hide. I was a bit concerned about his recollections of events and when it happened.

My memory is really good with dates and events. And the IO asked me if my husband remembers everything I remember. I said he will most likely remember the event but not the date LOL. And that’s exactly what my husband told the IO. At the end I was given a paper that my case is under review since I added more proof of bonafide marriage. She said she will talk to her supervisor and recommend approval. She said everything looks good and she just needs to review it.

    FAST FORWARD TODAY 8/14/2020

I received a notification that our I-751 and N-400 application is APPROVED!

Now waiting for the Oath ceremony date. Good luck to everyone that's still waiting.

Please, your initial stated date says August 12 2019. Is that an error or does it mean your interview was in 2019? How long was the wait between your interview and you receiving an approval notification?

Since my passport was expired, I did some research and it states on the USCIS website that if a passport is unavailable, a form I94 can be issued with a I551 stamp.

i informed USCIS on the phone that I spoke with my consulate and their offices are closed for COVID and could push my renewal to 3 months.

so they gave me an appointment at my local field office, which confirmed they can give me the i94 form with a stamp. I went in and took 2 passport photos with me. Process was easy once you’re in the office. It’s getting the appointment that’s difficult.

if you could have financial impact by not providing work eligibility to your employer, I would tell USCIS that it is an emergency or your job is at risk. Then escalate to a tier 2 rep and see if they can escalate your appointment for you. I waited 9 days from their estimated 5 days for an appointment.

I hope it works out for you. 😢

Thank you, that is really encouraging. Appreciate the information.

I called them as well. The escalated officer closed my request because she said I needed a valid un expired passport. But after doing research.. the USCIS website says that if a passport isn’t available they can stamp it on an i94 form with a photograph. I’m so frustrated and have been in tears because it seems every officer has their own way of doing things.

it took me 8 months to obtain a job. Now I’m scared I won’t be able to have the paperwork required in time.

I’m so sorry to hear about your situation, unfortunately I’m in the same boat: expired passport; embassy minimally functional relative to COVID-19. I also read on the website that an i94 can be issued in cases of an expired passport. Does that mean we are screwed? No passport, no residency documentation. This is scary!

If it puts you at ease mine expired May 3rd. Went through similar exercise.  Instead of call I got an email that only emergency infopass are being scheduled. Then I called and spoke and the response was unless you have a travel need or critical need you will not get an infopass appointment. Also was told that extension will not be send.

From what I understand, this my assumption is that the GC should still be good even if the date has expired.

I have been calling also and each time the officers say infopass is only offered if it’s an emergency. I am out of work right now and need to secure employment. How can I do that without proof of legal residency? Mine expired since the first week of May.

I couldn't wait and called in to check on my pending I-751 and this is what I got as the reply " On August, 2019, you also filed a Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.  Our records indicate that your Form I-751 and Form N-400 are currently pending and will be adjudicated at the same time.

On March 18, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services temporarily suspended routine in-person services to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). USCIS plans to begin reopening our offices on May 4, unless the public closures are extended further. USCIS staff are continuing to perform duties that do not involve contact with the public.  However, USCIS will provide emergency services for limited situations. To schedule an emergency appointment, contact the USCIS Contact Center."

Exactly the same response I got from them. 18 months extension expires this month.

So I finally got through to Tier II. My case is languishing at Lees Summit, MO. I live in California and their local office is - according to the Tier II officer - set to ask for an interview. Um, what? I very gently pointed out that I live a long way from there. This point was noted by the officer.

    *sighs*

    World spins madly on.

Mine has also been there for about 130 days since been transferred; the last time I called the officer told me it looks like my case will be scheduled for a combo interview. Haven’t heard anything except that my N400 completion date keeps fluctuating.

Please, did the officer say the interview is expected to be at Lees Summit or at your California local office?

Yeah, we were so surprised (pleasantly)!

No indication anything was happening and then....BOOM....the card was in the mailbox!

We got the Approval Letter just today (Monday, Nov 18).

    Thanks for the well wishes.

I know how you feel...just waiting...wondering...hoping. Hang in there. Remember - Few people get denied. It is generally just a waiting game.

We are relieved that no combined I-751 & N-400 interview. Now just the citizenship test, go over the app answers, and get the oath scheduled.

Hang in there...YOUR TIME WILL COME. Hopefully real soon.

    Forward and upward.

Thanks, we are all encouraged by your miracle. Congrats! Enjoy!

No status change on the my.uscis site.

Also, got the card before we got the approval letter, though the letter was mailed one day earlier.

That is such a surprise good news. Congrats! I’m sure you were overly excited. Good luck on your N400.

its 86 days mine was transferred to NBC, no news yet. Case status still shows case was transferred. Wish I could just receive a card in the mail like you... lol!

    Just passed my N-400/I-751 interview.

    Charleston, SC
    July 24, 2019 applied online
    Aug 8, 2019 biometrics
    Interview scheduled 23 September, 2019
    Interview November 12, 2019
    Oath November 21, 2019

Had pending I-751, the officer conducted first N-400 interview and then approved my I-751, my husband was with me but was left in the waiting area.
N-400 I was asked few questions from the N400 (yes/no questions). Then asked me 6 civic questions.

    1. Who does a U.S. Senator represent?
    2. Who vetoes bills?
    3. What is the highest court in the United States?
    4. What is the capital of your state?
    5. Why did the colonists fight the British?
    6. 81. Who did the United States fight in World War II?

    Reading:

    “Where is the White House?”

    Writing:

“The White House is in Washington, D.C.”

He then told me my application was recommended for approval.

Since I had my I-751 pending he printed out two pages and wrote down notes. First he said he had looked up some things before I came for my interview so he knows our marriage is not a fraud. He just wrote down that my husband and I owe our house, that we have kids, what my husband does for living and told me I was approved. Didn’t want to talk to my husband, didn’t want to see any documents. He had my entire file in front of him.

After I left within 30 minutes I got e-mail from USCIS worker letting me know I had my oath scheduled for next week and sent me a copy in my e-mail so I can print it if I don’t get mail in time.

    Good luck!

Congrats, this kinda thing only exists in my imagination, hope it becomes reality sometime soon for the rest of us waiting.

it's six of one half a dozen of the other. by the time you are eligible to apply for Naturalization, your I-751 is nearing its completion (is withing the last 6 months of when your extension expires). USCIS reality is rather removed from the theory.

I guess there’s no sure formula on how to do this thing. It’s just a hit or miss situation. Just make sure the paperwork is on point and the rest is personal luck? Hopefully they respond before the end of this year with an interview.

  11. This is something I read from an online article yesterday, I am not sure of the authenticity of the information.

On account of the significant delays in I-751 petitions, it is sometimes a wise strategy to file an N-400 application for naturalization while the I-751 petition is pending, as it tends to expedite the process. The USCIS schedules in-person interviews for N-400 applications significantly faster than the I-751. While the USCIS cannot adjudicate the N-400 naturalization application until the I-751 is approved, the USCIS is also required by law to adjudicate the N-400 within 120 days of the interview. Therefore, if you file the N-400 while the I-751 is pending, the USCIS is then required to adjudicate the I-751 quickly after the N-400 interview so that it can adjudicate the N-400 within the 120 days required by law.

I hear you. I think since our wait time for N400 is so long they sent the I751 somewhere else since it doesn't make sense to make it wait that long. Other people's that got transferred to local offices have a short wait time so it makes sense to process them together. Our I751 will probably be processed before the N400 hopefully. Mine is sitting at Potomac currently originally sent to CSC.

Good luck! hope they don't make us wait that long for the N400. Can't wait, I wonder what it would feel like the day we dont have anything to do with USCIS anymore. Can you imagine?

    @Eaglehead

mine looks just like this. As for the case completion date it depends on how long the wait time is for your local office. My local office is Seattle so it has a long time and the case completion date is December 2020.

BTW if see that you have 2 case transfer notifications. Did they transfer your case to local office and then transferred it again somewhere else because that's what happened to me.

Yes exactly, transfer - local office - then another transfer. Case is currently at NBC. Ridiculous, lol! Yours is the only one I’ve see longer than mine in estimated time.
