Thanks all for the diverse perspectives! Leaning towards renewing it ahead of time (bit tricky with some upcoming travel planned, but will try to swing it).

DQ'd Oct 17, interview Feb 20!
-
I have an IR-1 interview at Montreal scheduled for February 20. My passport expires November 20, 9 months later - so as I understand it, there is no problem on the consulate side as it is still valid for >6 months.
However, I'm wondering if there is an advantage to renewing my passport ahead of time so that way the visa stamp is in my new passport and remains with me when I travel for the next 10 years? Or does it not matter, because what really matters is the physical green card?

And you are currently outside the US?
Yes, outside the U.S. and would be submitting for consular processing

I came to the U.S. at the end of 2019 on a K-1 visa and got married to my now husband. We applied for AOS but had to abandon it because I couldn't attend the interview. I am officially a citizen/resident of Canada at this point in time.
We are now looking at submitting the IR-1. Does anyone know whether the previously abandoned AOS impacts our new applications? Does it speed up the process at all or potentially just complicate it?

Hello,
I have my medical exam in Montreal next week and I'm wondering what I need to consider given that I've had a recent hospitalization.
I was in the hospital for a few weeks this past summer to deal with an infection. It was serious at the time but I got treatment and now I'm in the recovery phase - not completely out of the woods, but moving towards that. I am aware they ask you if you've been hospitalized before, and obviously I will say yes to that. However, do they care much about non-psychiatric medical issues? Should I be going to my family doc to get her to write a letter explaining the situation and if so, what info should I have her include?
I also got a chest x-ray while in hospital and have the medical record for that. Anyone have any experience as to whether they would accept this and forego the x-ray on site? When I called Medisys the person said to go ahead and bring it because they "might" accept it, but wasn't much help beyond that.
Any insights, I'd love to hear!
Registering immigrant visa appointment - do I use old or new passport number?
in Canada

Hello, I have an upcoming interview in Montreal. I have received an email prompting me to register this at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/ but am stuck on determining which passport number to input. Do I use the one I entered on the DS-260 (now old), or the new passport number I received when I recently got my passport renewed? I emailed Canada Visas GDIT support but they were unhelpful.
Also, should I be trying to update my DS-260 with the new passport number/scan? Anyone know the best contact for getting the form reopened? Or should I not worry about this and just bring it up at the interview?
