1. I still haven't been able to get through after many tries..... happy to have almost all of our local documents in (just got the 2nd and final police clearance certificate back today). I was wondering if it was related somehow to my attempting to call in on Skype, but I suspect not.

    Peace,

  2. We're in this boat, too, received our NOA-2 on May 22 and they mailed it on May 23. I called yesterday (way too soon, really...), but it hadn't arrived yet.

As for it being shipped off from NVC for the embassy/consulate in question, don't they have to receive the I-864/DS3032 as well as paying the IV bill, et al?

It does seem like CSC has been getting busy with these, there've been a bunch of approvals on this board.

    Peace,

    Matt & Chandra

  3. Hello again,

Well, since we're likely to have to send in a fresh set of I-864's, I have another question. As the petitioner, my legal address is my mother's address, and in fact we will be staying with her at least when my wife initially comes to the US. She has agreed to be a joint sponsor. Is there any particular benegfit in having her do the I-864A rather than another I-864 (as joint sponsor)? Or are they the same in terms of demonstrating that one's sponsored immigrant will not become a public charge?

Thanks again (and my, oh my, do I so wish I had found this board a year ago).

    Peace,

    Matt & Chandra

  4. You need new forms because the tax returns on the form must be from the last 3 years .....

You only need one tax return, the others are optional. There is also a fee of I think $70 for processing of the I864.

Many thanks for all responses on this. I had figured I'd likely need to do these again (and was aware that we now need only one year's tax returns), but I was hoping that perhaps the earlier sent forms would be sufficient. If anyone does have any experience with this which indicates other than tat I will have to file fresh I-864 forms, then please post to this right away if possible.

    Thanks!

  5. A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far away...... (last August 4, 2006, to be precise)

I sent in the I-130 petition for my wife. At that point, I had not discovered this wonderful site with all of the useful information contained therein, and along with all the other things for the I-130, sent in a filled I-864 form (and a supplementary I-864a from my mother) along with tax returns, etc. We just received the NOA-2 on our petition, and are hoping and praying to see things move as quickly as possible. I understand now that I likely sent in the I-864 erroneously, as it usually comes later in the process (once NVC generates a bill for it).

Now my question is this: Does anyone have a clue as to whether perhaps they may accept the I-864 forms which were sent in last year with the I-130 and just require the payment, or is it more likely that the ones we sent in earlier were discarded and we will need to send in fresh forms?

Any help in understanding on this would be *greatly* appreciated.

    Peace,

    Matt & Chandra

  6. We're in pretty much the same boat as you, except we've been married nearly 14 years with a son, and have been waiting longer for the I-130 approval. That aside, we had our cases transferred from VSC to CSC (I-130) and to VSC (I-129F) about the same time, and our cases were last touched on the same day as well (May 15).

As for why the shifting of apparently a number of cases from VSC to CSC, I can only guess: VSC seemed, at least, to be fairly hopelessly backlogged (for how many months were they processing applications from March 12?), whereas things have moved somewhat at CSC. Again, though, just a guess; It'd be great if someone who had some information on this could inform us.

    Peace,

    Matt & Chandra

    HI,

I AM WITH YOU AS WELL,,,

Well, Janab KhanShahid, I hope that, God willing, you will be with us on this, too: We got our approval yesterday!

It would appear that the CSC folks have been making their way through the pile that was forwarded from VSC, judging from the number of approvals I've seen of late from there.

    Peace,

    Matt

  8. Hi, this is my first post,

Timing wise, we seem to be in a similar situation to that of Khanshahid, as we originally filed I-130 in August (and when I had called to fix a major typing error, was given a "guestimate" of about 6 months for my wife to receive the GC). Ended up filing I-129F for the K-3 only last month, and after an 8-month gap, our I-130 was transfered to CSC. I'm hoping (perhaps quixotically) that we'll get one or the other approved this month; we're kind of in a rush to get to the US before our son's school year begins in August.

I'm encouraged to see that so many have received their approvals in such a relatively timely manner, though frustrated as well: Why, then, has ours taken so long??

In situations such as ours, does calling one's congressman/senator's office really help? Any other advice for moving along an apparently mired process?

    Peace,

    Matt & Chandra
