  1. Hi everyone. My I-485 application for Green Card based on marriage to a US citizen is pending and my combo EAD and Advance Parole card is about to expire in a few weeks. I submitted my EAD renewal application without I-131 form about 3 months ago. I only submitted I-765 and I did not know that I-131 will be required at that time. Today I noticed that submitting the I-131 form is necessary to renew a combo card and I'm going to submit it as soon as possible. My question is how this will effect the priority date for my EAD renewal application? Will I receive a combo card or two separate cards? If I receive a combo card will it be based on the priority date of my initial I-765 application or this later I-131? I appreciate any information or experience you can share with me about this case.

    Hey EAD filers,

I''d love to get some thoughts on how I might best proceed with my case based on the experiences people have had recently expediting their requests. I've outlined my situation below:

I chatted last week with a USCIS agent about expediting my EAD request based on financial hardship and they have requested further evidence to be faxed -- For context, my husband has gone from earning a very good salary that could comfortably support us both to now being signed on to the $400/week Covid unemployment 'stimulus' allowance. He is a contract worker and his job got shut down in March and has not restarted. I appreciate this situation of relying on the government's Covid stimulus package for income is not uncommon for many people right now! We are now struggling to make ends meet in the way that we were once able to. Whereas I do not have a written job offer from a company ready to employ me, I am a designer and could easily get work as a freelancer if I had my EAD. I mention this as I see a lot of people who have recently been approved for an expedited request have all had written job offers to support their case.

Secondly, there is a chance that my husband's contract work *may* get restarted at the end of September. Whilst this is good news for sure, as it would mean we would no longer rely on the unemployment stimulus for income, this would end this period of financial hardship and therefore not support my case for expedited processing. The KEY issue is: my husband's contract is in New York (we live in LA). He works within the film industry and there are extremely strict Covid precaution guidelines to restart movie filming, which mean that I would not be allowed to travel to New York. The close proximity of crew and actors mean that he has to quarantine for the duration of the production and have no visitors. This would mean that I stay alone in LA for several months, unable to work, unable to drive (as in California, I need an EAD to get my Driver's license), and we would enter new financial hardship where I would be unable to support myself without being employed, both financially and have no mobility.

I would value any input or advice anyone may have on how they think I should progress my request and evidence to provide? Should I lead with our current situation, relying on the Covid stimulus, but me not having a job offer? Is that a strong case? OR should I mention in advance that my husband's work is about to restart and due to me not being able to accompany him due to Covid, I will need to begin work to financially support myself while he is gone, as well as being able to get a driver's license.

Thanks in advance, sorry about the long post!

We tried to expedite my wife’s EAD based on financial hardship because I lost my job and I’m receiving unemployment benefit payment, also a letter from an employer that interviewed my wife and stated that they are interested in hiring her when she receives her work permit, and the result was they rejected our expedite request. It looks the chance of getting approved will reduce to minimum when you don’t provide an official job offer with your request.

My AP status online never changed since "Case was Approved" (didn't even reflect fingerprints taken etc) but I received an EAD card which says on the bottom "SERVES AS I-512 ADVANCE PAROLE". I believe if you applied for both you should also receive them together even if AP hasn't updated online. I hope this makes sense.

    That makes sense. Thank you

Hey we have very similar timelines, but we applied for AOS from K1 for my husband.

We applied January 15th, 2020 and did biometrics February 4th, 2020.

Case is ready to be scheduled for interview since mid-March :)

I wish you get some good news soon. We are still waiting for my wife's EAD and it's already been about 2.5 months later than other people here and we are very disappointed. I wish at least the green card processing goes a little faster. please keep us updated here.

Anyone from January still didn’t get their EAD/AP?

We are still waiting for my wife's EAD/AP. The NOA date for her I-765 was 1/6/2020 and the case will be Outside Normal Processing Time (6.5 months) in a few days and we will file for a Outside Normal Processing Time case . Also we requested to expedite processing EAD on 6/23/2020 but we haven't received any response yet.

Does anyone here have a filing date of 1/16 or earlier and didn’t get approved yet for EAD/AP? I see a lot of people with later dates have. Is this something to worry about or just business as usual, that things progress like this?

My filing date was 1/4/2020 and my EAD/AP is still pending and we are very concerned about it.  It’s still not too late for your filing date I think

I just checked again and just received “Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview”! I guess I’m a bit behind, haha.. that RFIE set me back a bit.

anyone know how long the average waiting times are for the actual interview?

    xx

Good news that your I-765, I-131 got approved. Congrats!

Actual interviews wait time is different for each local field office and it depends on the number of similar cases that they are processing, but I heard they putting green card requests on hold for a while to focus on naturalization cases. you can read about it here.

Mine as now it says estimated completion time 2 months  January 2020

but estimated wait time 18 days.

I am wondering whether I will get my scheduled for interview when my wait time going down to 0 day.
I know they give you 1 month in advance till interview dated.

was your estimated completion time December 2019?  Did you get your notifications for interview after your wait time down to 0 day?

    thank you again

I already received my interview notice for interview at December first week. In my case I received the notice in my online account after about a weeks from the day that my counter became zero. During that weeks it was showing we are taking longer than expected to process your case message.
