Quick Q to all.. our interview is coming in China... at the walk in when embassy staff take your docs........do we provide copies of paystub, employment letter, irs transcript, SSN benefits, bank statement, 1040, W2 OR must be original OR certified copies?
Also for petitioners divorce docs - copies or certified copies or original?
Also for petitioners prior legal history - copies or certified copies or original?
Just provide both, original and copies.
If there's no original, certified copies still acceptable

UPDATE:
So I got my interview yesterday on October 1st 2019, and got a 221g Form (request for further information, immigrant visa) from the consular that asking me to submit more document of my fiance's paystub because of the incomplete and/or missing information, and my fiance did sent them the email of his paystub scan at the same day. Today I tried to check my application under Administrative Process and here's what it shows. However, I still need to wait until 2 to 3 business days for the embassy to confirmed about my visa and passport. I hope my case could help those who are going through the same issues. I'll keep everyone posted.

They did the same thing to my husband but with my irs taxes. he emailed it to them and took no longer than a week and a half and they mailed his passport back to him. We were freaking out too because they didn't tell him yes or no they said the same thing. so just have a little bit of patience
I know how stressful it is. It's such a relief to know that it finally works on your case

We had to go through the same experience. Lucky for you they held to your passport. Our was given back to us and IO told us to bring back the requested document. So it really up to embassy what processes they have implemented and to an IO.
Guess each cases had different issues and it all really depends to consular

I have just sent like a year's worth of pay stubs and supporting bank deposit information to my fiance before her interview in a couple weeks. I decided I'd rather go overkill on it than risk possibly what you're going through now. I hope they can resolve your issue soon and everything else goes smoothly for you!
Thank you for your kind words. I wish we knew that earlier

It sounds like the Jakarta embassy needs to update its instructions/guidance. I looked at what the embassy sent us, and yeah, there is no mention of pay stubs, just W-2 and tax returns. My wife brought the pay stubs just because of what we had read here on VJ.
Anyway, good luck, and at least it is an easy fix for you! I'm sure you'll get approved once you submit the pay stubs.
That's exactly what I mean. The Embassy didn't mention about it at the guidance email they sent. Should have done a better research though, considering it as a supporting documents.
Thank you anyway. My fiance already sent his paystub to the email of the embassy. Hopefully there will be good outcome 🤞 and I hope this would help other couples who might needs more references about the required documents for the interview.

It's actually up to the individual CO. The entire I-134/taxes/paystubs are all optional under the law and via policy (FAM). The only (income-related) requirement for a K-1 is the CO must not believe the applicant is likely to become a public charge.
When you get to AOS in the US, the I-864 is actually required by law and has more defined criteria.
I see. Thank you for explaining that to me, now I have a better understanding

@Vivian08 there are lots of people here with different opinions and different experiences what has worked someone may not work for you and your embassy.
Provide them with information they have requested and you will be fine.
Thank you. I appreciate all of the input, I guess the rest is just up to the embassy however. I just try to look for an advice from those who might be experience the same thing, and most of the answers are clear though

Proof of income is required. at least a letter from workplace that your fiance makes X amount of money.
That's right. However I only submit the required documents as listed on the email from embassy, that's what we missing

Ok, so it sounds like you submitted a job offer, not a letter stating he is employed. That's what you needed. Now they want to verify he is currently earning. Easy fix. Have your fiance download his pay slips and email them to you, then forward to embassy.
That's what I exactly told my fiance to do, but actually I did submit his employment letter during the interview. Guess they just need more evidence

So, they want the current pay stubs as she is Only offered a job and they are trying to verify her employment????
They basically only ask for his paystub because the rest of the documents already complete

It's too bad that your fiance didn't include his pay stubs with his I-134. As mentioned before, the consulate holding on to your passport is not a bad sign. Ask your fiance to send you copies of their pay stubs, and I would recommend a copy of the W2 associated with those pay stubs. It's frustrating because it's not the outcome you expected, but the sonner you submit the requested items, the sooner you and your fiance will be off. Good luck!
Thank you for your kind words. I guess we just really missing the important details and you are right that the consular did asked to complete the information as soon as possible. Hopefully it works

K1 does not allow the alien to work until all the applications after the marriage in the US are approved and you get the work authorization so the offer of a job was not needed
Sorry what I was meant is my fiance's letter of employment

A refusal is NOT a denial. I know this is a stressful process but you have to relax. All they are doing is asking you to provide the documents needed to make a decision. If it was a straight denial, then it would be something to worry about. A refusal simply means that a decision can't be made because something is missing or further investigation is needed.
Thank you for your answer. It is indeed stressful because I thought that I already prepare everything accordingly. Guess it's right that I'lI just need to relax and follow up their request as soon as possible and wait for the embassy for the next step.

I think you should also provide the W2 that was suppose to be included with the tax returns
I got my documents in order based to the instruction from the email, including provide them with the W2, Tax Return, and Job offer letter but I really have no idea that they gonna ask about the paystub. That's why they gave me the 221g form of requesting for further information because I couldn't provide that during the interview

Just a little clarification on what happened. You actually were denied. That's how visa works, you are either denied or approved, once you appear to make the application for a visa. The denial can be overcome by fixing whatever caused it. In this case, they want those paystubs. As mentioned, the fact that they keep your passport usually means that they think this can easily be overcome when you give them whatever missing that they're asking for, and other than that, your case is approvable.
I see, that's why I need second opinion just to make sure, because the consular didn't answer with a yes or no to my question whether I got approved or not. But clearly the paper said it's refused until I can provide the information that missing, then they could do a revised to my application

They wouldn't hold on to your passport or request more documents if it was a straight up refusal
That make a perfect sense to me. I just feel anxious because I didn't expected this

The fact they held on to your passport is a good thing. Read the sheet you got clearly and give them the documents that they are asking for. They are asking for a specific document, what is the confusion?
Just need some affirmation because I thought I got denied already. But thanks for clarifying it
2 minutes ago, MelOe said:sounds like you need to get those pay stubs to them as quickly as possible. since they kept your passport i imagine they might think it could be a quick fix and you could still get approved in a short time
I hope for the best but still prepare for the worst though

I just had my interview and I have all the documents presented based on the email instruction but then the consular asked me about my fiance's Pay Stub which I couldn't provide (because I have no idea if it's also one of the required documents). And the consular gave me a white paper which stated "Request for further information, Immigrant Visa" and told me to send them the requested document as soon as possible to their email. I asked if my visa got approved or not because the paper said that it got refused due to incomplete information and they said that they gonna wait until I send them the additional information before they can decide. They haven't return my passport yet and it makes me even more confuse. Can someone explain?

Don't worry about it
I'm trying to convince my fiance that it'll be okay that I can explain it to the consular if they ask about it. We just sort of need an affirmation.
Thank you for the reply
