  1. Hey ! What is this ? Everyone is affected by not being able to talk to their husbands, but no one cares that I'm not able to post !!!!

    :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

    Just kidding.

But, anyway....the internet at our house is muuuuuuuuch faster and seems to be connected well right now. We noticed that it was fast around 2am. For the past 2 days or so, only Egyptian websites were available on our computer!!!

Happy Saturday, I mean, Caturday..... I hope the connection comes back for everyone!

  2. Honestly...it was a little bit of both!

It brought alot of pressure to our visits because we always had interviews or things we had to do or deliver to the Consulate. Hicham would get frustrated because he thought I should just march in there and demand that they do something. He had a hard time understanding that it just doesn't work that way.

But at the same time, Hicham and I have learned to communicate on a level that I don't think we would have matured to had we not gone through this ordeal. We had to learn to talk things out because that's all we had.

In the end, it's made our relationship much stronger and we will cherish being together again more than we did before.

Hang in there girlie! You'll get there. :):):):):)

Hi, allousa. Have you met my husband????

It's YOUR embassy, YOU call and cuss them out!! YOU can make them do something. I can't.....

How many times we've had that discussion....

Fighting sucks. Long distance fighting sucks hard. Hey, bridget. Make-up WHAT ?!?!??!?!! you never tell me this thing~

  3. If you like Amores Perros and Y tu mama tambien, you'll love Bad Education and Los Pecados de Padre Amaro. Both star Gael Garcia Bernal.Bad Education is directed by Alomodovar.I LOVE HIS MOVIES !

I have seen both of those. Padre Amaro is one of the few movies that I actually own (and watch) on DVD. I love it!! Gael is fantastic!

Como Agua Para Chocolate was a good one, too!!!

  4. It's wonderful news that he got his visa, even stamped wrong!!

They should be able to fix it in a short amount of time, and at least you know he's got it, no more wondering when AP will end.

    :dance::dance::dance:

Congratulations. And let us know what they say about it!

    These are my sentiments exactly!!

    Good luck, water & Ayman!

  5. I was searching for a daily thread to post an update and a quick hi to you guys, but I couldn't find one.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday. The rain finally stopped in Cairo, and the sun is in the process of drying up the mud. How is Sunday going in your neck of the woods?

UPDATE : Mina went yesterday to have bloodwork done & the updated medical exam. They didn't need his passport- thank God....

because of the freaky Cairo rainstorms, he couldn't go to the police station this morning. He will go tomorrow. He will have all of his results & reports by Thursday (we hope) and we will send them in to the embassy.

  6. elwalk-- thanks... that was definitely the most exciting line of the email !! "AP FINISHED ??!?!??!"

but, lucky for me, I am already with my husband....this news just means that we will be travelling soon. which is great because i have missed a lot of baby birthdays :( (my nieces')

  7. Hey, sereia! Was the Bollywood film good ? I love Amores Perros & Y Tu Mama Tambien... some of my favorite Spanish movies.

I borrowed a cd of the movie "Om Shanti Om" from a girl at work (she loves Indian movies) and it was okay. I like some of the songs from the movies. I want to find a good movie with a moving story. Have any kleenex-type recommendations?

    Recent movies I watched:

I am Legend - Didn't like the movie overall... but i did cry once :crying:

The Bourne Ultimatum - we didn't finish it

    Superbad - funny

I'm downloading the Invisible, The Kingdom, and Notes on a Scandal and Stranger Than Fiction

Any thoughts on those movies ?

  8. Cheryl, that is exactly how my husband feels about it. But, if it's not too expensive, you can get Medo to do it again and have it waiting in case they ask for it. But, who knows, because some people don't get asked for it even after a year..... I hope they don't ask you for it. **fingers crossed**

BTW, one of the dr's said he doesn't need the passport if Mina can bring his immunization record with the # on it, so we won't have to wait for that. And, he will go to the exam today at 3pm..... so, I hope we will get it taken care of quickly.

  9. I agree, MK.

There are some great thoughts and beautiful sentiments in many of the posts here.

    Thanks for spreading peace.

Ganja, the people here can let you all know that the best thing to do is ignore the people who take jabs at you. I hope you have a peaceful journey here and I hope that we can keep these things in mind.

    (L)(F)

  10. That's a funny pic, ganja.

Yeah. Apparently, JP, they have both expired.

Becky, even though they didn't request a movement certificate (and i don't think my husband needs one anyway cuz i think it's only for people who are exempted from the army) he will request one when he gets his new police report.

That way, if they ask for it, they will get it !!

Thanks , water. We are taking it in stride. It's just an inconvenience. It's not difficult. But, still, we have to get his passport from the embassy and redo (and repay for) his exams & x-rays plus the police stuff.

I hope to post some better news soon !!!

  11. Who knows, bridget.... It has been a year all together since his first physical.

It took them 5 months to schedule his interview, and then 7 months of AP = 1 year

His first exam was done Jan 15th of last year, so they just now reached the one year point. I don't know when they become outdated, but my husband is peeved that we have to jump through yet another hoop.

  12. Just a little update on our AP nightmare.... my senator's aide emailed us this pleasant news yesterday.

The administrative processing on Mr. xxxxx's immigrant visa case has been completed. He now needs to update his medical and police reports and mail them our office before we can issue his visa.

Once we receive the required medical and police report, we will process his case to conclusion.

I guess AP is finished, but his medical exam has expired. He's going tomorrow to talk to a Dr.

His passport is at the embassy & he has to present it to the doctor. What to do ? What to do ?

And who knows if they'll have to do more AP after we send that stuff in. Oh, well.... here goes another step.

  13. Congratulation on the happy reunion !!!:dance::dance:

P.S. What's the difference between these two visas?

I believe the CR1 is a conditional permanent residency for the beneficiary of a spousal visa that has been married to the US citizen/resident for less than 2 years. They have to file for a lifting of conditions.

Differences in filings, paperwork, etc. ... I have no idea. Maybe someone else could answer that. But, I think she was just saying they gave him the conditional visa.
