I had my interview today, you can see the list of things I took here.

    Congrats on the approval!

I never got an EAD or AP so I wasn't able to work or contribute much financially, nor did we get to travel. The list that I gave is all we have so far.

Also, what should we expect at the interview? We've been together since 2016 and everything is documented through the embassy. And we've been living together for a year and some change now since I got here. What more "proof" of bonafide relationship do they need?

  2. Hi,

Our interview for K1 AOS is soon and we just wanna make sure we have everything ready. So far we have:

    1) Passport
    2) Birth certificate
    3) Marriage certificate
    4) Joint health insurance
    5) Joint bank account
    6) Proof that we live together

No medical as it was done abroad within a year of filing for AOS

Is there anything else that we need to bring?

Also, I did not receive my EAD or AP. My case was scheduled for an interview instead 10 months after filing. I'm not sure if that means anything

  3. Hi,

So my AOS interview has been scheduled for next month. I did my medical exam for the embassy in Nov 2019 and we filed for AOS on Oct of 2020. I was told that I don't need to re-do the medical since I filed within a year of taking it.

Can someone tell me how do I get a hold of the medical that I did for the embassy so I can bring it with me to the interview? I never really got a copy of it when I did it since it was sent straight from the doctor. to the embassy.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. It has now been 8 months since I filed for my AOS and EAD/AP.

I checked the case status today for my i485 and it says that as of Feb 19th, my case is ready to be scheduled for an interview. It's June now and I have not received anything in the mail in regards for an interview. Yet when I check the case status for my i765, it still just says received.

I tried calling USCIS to inquire about what's going on or what I should expect, and I keep getting the automated voice service.

Does anyone know if this is normal? Why would it say case ready to be scheduled for an interview in Feb and I haven't received anything yet and its now June?

  5. Hi,

I applied for my AOS on October, right before the deadline where they increased the filing fees. It's been 6 months now and I still haven't received my EAD and AP combo card. Recently my wife has been handling the finances for the most part, but its putting a lot of pressure on her and is putting a strain in the relationship. I have been applying for jobs and I've been getting decent feedback from employers. I thought the wait time for EAD is 3-6 months. But it's been well over that time period now.

Is there a way to check the status of my EAD or at least call and inquire about it?

We flew into Atlanta from Paris Tuesday

30% of flights from there are now cancelled as only USC and green card holders are allowed in

Charles de Gaulle has closed 2 runways to park the planes that are not flying

in Madrid a CR1 holder is stranded as they closed the city (that was Monday and i don't know if he is able to fly here yet  or not)

Air France is honoring tickets purchased before the 31st but not selling any after that and they are only coming to certain airports

don't know where you are coming from or what airlines but the above is what i am seeing

JFK still coming in but they cut flights also

    and this happened today

So K1 visa holders are no longer allowed to fly to the US?

  7. Hi guys,

I've asked this question in one of the other forums and I only received one response. So I'll ask it again here for reassurance purposes:

Are there any rules/regulations for the type of company,  job, or salary I would have to receive from the company giving me an offer letter, in order to receive an EAD expedite? Or  just a simple offer letter from any company would do?

For example, does the job have to be a high skilled position? or can it be something simple like retail or sales rep?

Does the company have to be e-verified? or a multinational company? Or can it be something local or a startup?

Lastly, does the company have to be within close proximity to me, or can it be located in another state? (and I would be working remotely)

  9. Hi folks,

Can anyone please fill me in on how to look for and find a job in America?

I know people use job search sites such as Monster and Indeed. Any other methods that I should be aware of?

I know working in America sometimes entails starting from scratch. Which I have no issue with. If anyone would like to share or offer some pointers on how to find a job, I would highly appreciate it. Thank you.

"Being that I told the CO that we would like to get married before Christmas, and instead I would be arriving 3 days before the visa expires, "

Since they don't have a timeline, and they are talking as if they are making firm dates, it seems that they want to marry, then enter on the K1 with 3 days left.  This would be bad.

They have no idea how long it will take.  10 months *should* be enough.. but who knows.  I get that many are not native speakers, but many times what they write and what they actually mean seems quite different.

Oh no, I meant getting married before Christmas in the US. I know we can't get married outside of the US with a K1 visa. Thank you for raising that concern though.

So.. we have the interview coming up shortly. I keep flipping between being worried something will go wrong and we won't get approved, and being excited because we are getting so close to being able to be with each other!!

How did you all try and stay calm in the roller coaster run up to the interview?! 🙂

I've been keeping myself entertained with the 90 day fiance show - it's so funny!

Come prepared. Come dressed well. Be yourself. Be honest. And that's really it. It's not that deep.

  12. My fiance and I were planning on getting married before Christmas. During the interview, I was asked by the CO when are we getting married. I said "hopefully before Christmas." Visa was issued in a week, giving us enough time to get married before Christmas.

As far as us wanting to get married before Christmas, things didn't really go according to plan:

    1) I got a promotion at work end of last year and I want to reap the benefits of the extra income I'll be getting. Especially if I go months without a job waiting for my EAD

    2) My fiance and I decided to do some more traveling, since it'll be hard for us to travel once I'm in the US (waiting for AP and/or AOS)

    3) I live with my parents and I would like to take care of them for the time being

My visa is set to expire mid May. I plan on arriving to the US 3 days before my visa expires.

Being that I told the CO that we would like to get married before Christmas, and instead I would be arriving 3 days before the visa expires, would this cause any issues at POE or in the future?

    Thanks for your input.
