  1. I tried. They don't want to discuss these issues. They say it is up to HR. I work for a large company. Recently they had an audit and removed everyone who could not produce a birth certificate/marriage certificate and social security card. I files a complaint with HHS.gov. I'll see how that goes but honestly I'm not very optimistic.

  2. The AOS packet ended up being sent back to me due to an error on my part. I corrected it and resent it. I noticed that I had not checked the box requesting a social security number. I checked it this time. I noticed that the money for the AOS was deducted from my bank account which means the application was accepted. However, I have yet to receive official correspondence from USCIS. I have read some people on this forum stating that employers can not require social security numbers in order to add employees or their dependents to the company provided health insurance plans. I have spoken to representatives and a supervisor at the benefits department at my job. They say there is no way of getting my wife on my plan without a SSN. They say I will also not qualify for retrospective coverage from the date of our marriage. I'm already getting medical bills in the thousands because she is expecting. I have a decent job and benefits. I though adding her would be a peace of cake. I would love to believe that it is unlawful for my job to deny me this service as some have stated in this forum. However, the evidence that I have saw seems to be to the contrary. On the social security site it states:

Can I refuse to give my Social Security number to a private business?

Anyone can refuse to disclose his or her number, but the requester can refuse its services if you do not give it. Businesses, banks, schools, private agencies, etc., are free to request someone's number and use it for any purpose that does not violate a federal or state law. Sometimes they will issue a different number if you ask.

Is there a way for me to hold the social security administration accountable for loosing my application? Since my job is refusing to add my wife is there a government agency to which I can report this "unlawful" act? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

  3. My wife sent a simple noterized letter to a family friend abroad authorizing him to accompany the children to interview. She also sent a noterized copy of his government ID. The children completed the interview last week. The embassy is holding their passports and they were told to pick up the visas on Thursday.

    Thank you for your help.

  4. Thank you for your reply. I have already done exactly as you have described. As soon as she arrived I made an appointment with my local SSA department and she applied for a number. Initially we were told it would take about four weeks. Weeks then turned into months. Every time I called I was told that there was no update and I should call back. After about four months a representative realized that this was not normal and a supervisor finally admitted that they lost her application! All along I thought the delay was due to the pandemic. We have the receipt stating that she applied for the card at the local office. However, the local office had no trace of the application. The supervisor apologized to me and stated that it was thier error. She further stated that it was too late for me to apply again because the nintey days have passed! All she could do was apologize and I wish their was something I could do to hold them to account for their error. However, I don't know what to do. They can not deny that we applied because we have the receipt. This error on their part was very costly on my part because my health insurance will not cover my wife without a social security number. Therefore, I have to pay for any medical expenses out of pocket or apply for what is called charity care from a local hospital. It would cover a part of the expenses but not all due to my income. It is not considered a public charge. She also is not able to get state ID without the social. This is my situation and that is why I wanted to request a card with the I 765 application. When I initially filled out the form I did not check the boxes because I was still waiting for her card from the SSA. When I realized that she would not get a card I can't recall if I checked the boxes before signing the form and sending it off with the AOS. The other error I made was not making a copy of the form before sending it.

    Thanks again for the reply.

  5. I'm not sure if this is in the correct category. I filed form I 765 concurrently with I 485. It was recently mailed. I am not sure if I checked boxes 13a, 14 and 15. These are related to applying for a social security number. My wife needs to apply for a social security number. Are there any suggestions as to what I can do at this time.

    Thanks so much

I would think they both need POA, I mean her brother (Kids guardian) and whoever will pick up the passport. However its possible to prepare the POA in the USA with a copy of their passport (Guardian and who will pick up visas) If you prepare the POA yourself it needs to be  notarized and you must sign and date copies of their passports and staple it to the POA. Since it is addressed to the US consulate you should not have any problems with legalities. My advice is that the Guardian and the appointed person to pick up visa be the same person otherwise you will have to name the person that will pick up the visas on the POA. This is based of the experience of a friend that went through the same process at the US embassy Togo....I presume Senegal might be slightly different...It might be beneficial to find out exact requirements from the consulate as @Crazy Cat recommended.

How do I go about preparing a power of attorney myself? I have seen some templates online. Are we basically talking about a letter from the children's mom stating the she permits a particular person to go with the children to the interview and collect the passports? I can use one individual to keep it simple. However, the person is a family friend and I don't think he has a passport but he does have an identification card. Would he have to send me a copy of his identification? I apologize if I sound ignorant. I haven't done this before and I found it about this at the last minute. I guess I never thought that they wouldn't just give the passports to anyone. The interview is on September 30th. If possible I can prepare the power of attorney here and send it to Gambia to my in laws via DHL.

    Thank you

  7. My wife's children are scheduled to be interviewed later this month for K2 visas in Gambia. I was just informed by the embassy that since my wife is in the US her brother will need a power of attorney in order to accompany the children to the interview. I wanted my wife's brother to bring them to Senegal for the interview and then they would stay with family in Senegal. Once the Visas are issued a family friend would pick up the visas. Would that family friend also need a power of attorney in order to pick up the visas? The embassy does not respond to my emails all of the time so I am asking if anyone here can assist me. Does it have to be a US based lawyer or can it be a lawyer based in Gambia or Senegal? In addition, what do the children have to bring with them to the interview? Their mom came to the US on a fiance visa less than a year ago. So far I know they have to bring the ds-160, passports, birth certificate and medical exam. I believe they have to bring pictures but I'm not sure how many.

    Thank you so much

  8. Hi,

My fiance arrived in the US in January of this year. She performed a medical exam abroad earlier that month. However, she did not receive all required vaccinations. I read that the medical is good for one year. However, I did not receive a copy of the completed I-693 for the Civil surgeon abroad. Rather, it was sent directly to the embassy. My first question is: Is this medical on file with the USCIS or must it be completed again? I contacted civil surgeons here in order to have them sign off on the vaccinations my fiance received in the states. I was told that I have to pay for the entire medical because I have no proof that it was already done. We completed the medical again along with all of the vaccines except some due to my fiancé's pregnancy. The surgeon said he explained to USCIS that the remaining vaccines would be taken once she delivers. I ended up delaying the adjustment of status due to personal reasons. I'm ready to adjust now and I am reading that the medical has to be sent in within sixty days of the surgeon's signature. I thought it was good for one year. Some are saying the medical is still valid if I don't send it in but rather bring it to the interview. Others are saying it is invalid. Do I have to do the medical over again? I know I'm stupid so please go easy on me.

    Thank you

Congratulations 👏 Lawkev you're almost there!

l am not an expert in this platform. However, regarding your 3 questions l would advise you to follow the process as instructed. For any further information contact directly the ambassy in Dakar they are the only one that can authorize any changes.

Lawkev! Do you mind telling us with specific dates if your interview was previously canceled then rescheduled? I am DQ September trying to see when should I get an appointment 🤔

    Thanks and good luck!

I'm already on it! I sent these questions to the authorities and I am awaiting a response. I never had an interview scheduled. I'm not one of those who had an interview cancelled and is now rescheduling the interview. The last correspondence I had was from the national visa center saying that my visa was going to be forwarded to the embassy Dakar. The interview date that I have been given is January 5th providing that I pay for the Visas by November 24th. I did not expect to be called at this juncture because they were calling people who had canceled appointments. They are moving faster than I expected. I received an email from the national visa center on March 31st. Hope that helps. Can anyone direct me to a thread on this site that goes with green card holders bringing their children to the US?

    Thank you

  10. Hi, I received an email from the Embassy in Dakar instructing me to schedule an interview. I have a few questions. Perhaps someone here can help me:

    1. I was given the location of three doctors in Senegal who perform the medical. According to travel.state.gov there is also a doctor in Gambia who performs the medical. My fiance is in Gambia. Is she able to go to the doctor in Gambia to perform the medical?

    2. According to the instructions given to me by the embassy my fiance is required to be vaccinated. According to travel. State.gov one can receive a K-1 Visa without being vaccinated. Vaccination is only required at the time of adjusting status in the US. Does anyone have experience with this situation? I'm not sure that all of the vaccinations required are available in The Gambia.

    3. According to the instructions I have to pay for the interview at a participating ecobank in Senegal. Ecobank also has locations in Gambia. Is it not possible to make the payment at an Ecobank location in Gambia?

    Thanks

  11. Thanks for the replies.

I hired a law firm and part of the contractual agreement is that I follow their instructions. They will screen everything that I'm sending before forwarding it to immigration and if they believe the information is too much then they won't use it.

I'm going to try to print out the screen shots in color on a Word document and see how that comes out. The responses are much appreciated. Thank you.

  12. Hi,

I am trying to gather proof of correspondence for the I-129F. We mainly use WhatsApp to communicate with each other. I have months of measages and call logs. The problem I am having is I am trying to figure out how print them. It's more of a technical issue than anything. Can anyone recommend any apps of computer programs which can assist me?

    Thank you
